Big fan of the Collingswood location, finally had the chance to try the Cape May location and was just as pleased. Food was just as good as was the service on a busy Saturday. Got the rice balls again because of course I did.

In my opinion, this is the best Italian food on the island for sure! From the moment we walked in the door we were greeted by the owner Alfredo. He was very warm and welcoming. Our reservation was for 4 people, but another couple last minute joined us and our party was accommodated(we of course called first). We started with the Calamari Caesar and my, my, my, was it out of this world! Of course we couldn’t stop there, we had to taste the Rice Balls and WOW is all I can say!!! I’m craving them as I type. My date had the Osso Buco and it fell off the bone, it was that tender. The Veal Marsala was probably the best I’ve ever had and the veal was cooked perfect! If you haven’t tried That’s Amore, you’re missing out! I can’t wait to visit their Collingswood location next.

We had dinner on December 30th. Amazing rice balls, sunday gravy and lobster ravioli dishes, great ambiance and service by the staff and Evan the owner. Highly recommend this place and all the food. Wish we’d had room for dessert.

I really don’t want to give them 2 stars when they actually deserve at least 4 stars … We went there during restaurant week and just loved the ambiance in the dining room. Very well decorated without being over the top. Our problem was with our waiter, at first, and the quality of the food — specifically, my entrée. We were sort of rushed into choosing our appetizer, entrée and dessert, but that is what I expect during a Prix Fixe event. I chose the Rice Ball appetizer and, while it was good, it was HALF a rice ball? My wife had the bisque which was excellent. Entrée for my wife was the Salmon, which was also excellent and I had pasta with Sunday Sauce. Herein is the reason for 2 stars. I did not finish my entrée and told the waiter that I did not want to take the remaining portion home because it tasted burnt. My wife tasted it as well and we both felt that the sauce had been burnt and we were tasting the portion at the bottom of the pot. The waiter was totally dumbstruck by our comments and proceeded to disappear for 10 minutes. He eventually came back and brought our desserts, orzo pudding and cannoli, which were exceptionally good — but said nothing about our complaint. As we were leaving I spoke with the host, who may be an owner. He indicated that he and the chef tasted the sauce and felt that nothing was amiss. I do not understand why no one came to our table to speak with us about our complaint. Had I not spoken to the host, nothing would have come of my complaint. They took $ 10 off of our check and I told them I didn’t want that but felt that my complaint was serious enough to warrant a table visit. The customer is always right and I would have loved to speak with the chef — did he taste my plate or sauce from another pot? BTW, the restaurant is BYOB and also has a restriction on children — not allowing children under 10 which can make for a quieter meal for many people. We will go back the next time we are in Cape May.

Tried this Italian restaurant on Cape May’s pedestrian mall off season. In fact it was CapeMay’s Restaurant Week, and I’m going to preface my review by saying that because the kitchen was busy with restaurant week orders, the quality of the food may be somewhat off. First off, when we arrived for our early reservation the restaurant was less than half full. Nevertheless they squeezed us into a tiny corner table where my husband, a tall man, was more than a little uncomfortable. Next we chose the special three course dinner and both my husband and I chose the create your own pasta option. I regret that we did. My husband chose the penne with Karen sauce and I had the penne with alForno sauce. Both tasted straight out of a box. Both our sauces were bland and there was so much gummy pasta on our plates that neither one of us could come anywhere near to finishing. Add to that my husband ordered a side of Italian sausage and it came out stone cold. The dessert was an orzo pudding which was good and probably the best part of the meal. The other good part was the service… we had a very efficient and capable waiter. Just don’t have the desire to return. The kitchen seems to crank out meals like an assembly line. A major disappointment!

We went to That’s Amore on a Saturday night and loved it! It was our first visit. We received a friendly welcome from everyone there. The décor is beautiful and changes with the seasons. We ordered the Arancini di Riso, Carciofi Fritti, and Pork Osso Bucco. All the dishes were well prepared and very good. Our server was super attentive. I look forward to returning on the next visit to Cape May.

Very nice place with pleasant staff. This was our second time eating at That’s Amore first time was in August. This visit we ordered the exact same menu items as last time. Started off with the rice balls appetizer, entrees were Chicken Luca and rigatoni with vodka sauce and a side of meat balls. This time the food was very salty definitely don’t remember that being the case last time since I’m not a fan of overly salted food.

I love this place. I love the location. I love the décor. I love the food. I love the wait staff. I love the chefs. I love everything about this place. Can you tell? :) I have now been to both of the That’s Amore locations and I am highly impressed with the Cape May location. The Collingswood location has more of a «homey» feel while the Cape May location is more sophisticated. I felt ritzy when I came here. They have a few restrictions. One of them being no children, and honestly, I like it. It keeps it to more of a «Members Only» kind of deal and I’m cool with that. This place is larger in comparison to the other location but still small. So to take the chance on children misbehaving is a bit risky especially when you also have a certain type of clientele to please. Kids want pizza; take them there. Adults, come here on your date night. If you have no quarrels about the«children rule» try their Rice Balls as an appetizer. It is quite filling, so share, but they are delish. It’s one of their signature dishes, and to top it off with their house tomato sauce is purely satisfying. It reminds you of your Italian grandma’s cooking. As an entrée choose any one from the selection and you won’t be disappointed. Just promise me that you’ll save some room for a dessert and French press coffee. Mmmmm. I could make the drive out and go back now. ;) That’s Amore is exactly what the name means. You can absolutely tell that a lot of love went into that place. I think the owners literally thought about every little thing that went into their Cape May location and I appreciate that. Take a date here. They’ll love it.

Rob(are waiter) and Alex(our bus boy) were both attentive and very friendly. The food, however, was just ok. I had the mussels and they were small and rather fishy. They were in a delicious spicy marinara that went well with their baked bread. I also tried the calamari salad which was good, but the pasta dish was something I could have easily made better at home. Service was quick. I was impressed how fast our food came out. The waiter and bus boy definitely made our visit a nice one.

Rude!!! They said veal parm was make franchese style. OK… Do they know they are different dishes. Pasta swimming in sauce, they said they do that because when customers take it home the pasta does not get dried out. OK… The worst, the waiter, rude, cocky. He was so horrible that we could not even leave him a tip. There is no reward for bad behavior. First time in my life I left a restaurant without tipping.

Can’t really write a review because they wouldn’t allow my wife and I in with our 4 month old baby. The woman at the counter told me” we don’t cater to kids”, to which I replied” unless you have breast milk on your menu, it’s no issue”. Without even a laugh, the robotic hostess repeated and said«we don’t cater to kids». I’ve been to many restaurants in more upscale places than Cape May with my baby and have never experienced this level of arrogance. I wouldn’t go back to this place if it was now rated 5 stars, which it isn’t.

The food was out of the this world. We got the Rice Balls as the appetizers(amazing) and two entrees. We got the Chicken Luca and the build your own pasta dish(Rigatoni with Vodka sauce and jumbo shrimp). Everything was dynamite! I would definitely recommend this place when you’re in Cape May.

My family and I came to Cape May on one of our annual visits. We have been coming to Cape May annually my entire life. This year I took them out myself. We stopped by this restaurant, with our two children. The restaurant was not open yet. They saw that we had two children. When we came back after the restaurant opened at 3PM, we were told that our children were«not welcome». I am not sure why, after seeing that we had two children, they did not tell us that children were not welcome. That is poor verbiage at best, but they could have let us know. We waited around about 45 minutes to eat there. I understand wanting to go to a restaurant and not having children cry. I also understand a restaurant having a policy to remove children, or individuals, who are unruly. But to put an age on it seems rather arbitrary. My six-year-old behaves better than most 12-year-olds I know and the baby was asleep. Oh, and the restaurant was empty. The ambience seemed nice, which is why I give it two stars instead of one.

As the result of our good experience previously at this restaurant we were looking forward for another awesome meal on Saturday, 8⁄22. The first time was awesome this time was truly a bad experience. We sat in the outside dinning area which was very nice. However, our waitress was very rude not only to us but to several other patrons. Our second disappointment was when our food arrive. To start with my risotto was like glue not a rich creaming texture, the salmon only had a sprinkle of fig sauce with hardly visible of the candied walnuts. My husband’s veal was soft and mussy. Our third disappointment Was the cappuccino, which was bitter to taste, we had better at McDonald’s.

Located at the end of the Washington Mall area. This little restaurant is no slouch! They have a late dinner menu that starts at 9pm. My wife and I read the other reviews but still wanted pasta for dinner. This place is a BYOB if you plan on having a glass of wine with dinner. I have to add that a gentlemen there, probably the manager came over to our table as we talked to our waitress and told us he would have someone courier wine to us. We declined but it was a nice gesture. I ordered eggplant and spaghetti and my wife ordered fettuccine with chicken. The meal also came with an option for soup or salad and concluded with cannoli or another dessert choice. To conclude, everything was delicious, the wait staff were courteous, and the ambiance was relaxing. Loved it!!!

Had dinner the other day here. The food was excellent. The red tomato sauce here is fantastic, had it on both the bread and the meals. Service was excellent and very friendly. Would definitely return on our next trip to Cape May!

Superb dining experience. Started with the clam chowder wish was possibly the best I ever had. My wife and I split the rice balls which were outstanding. I had the pork osobuco which was again very well prepared. My wife had the salmon, delicious. Desert was the cannoli cream and fresh berries. Our service was very attentive This is a BYOB which is a real plus. They also just started an early bird — three courses for $ 25.00. Can’t beat that. Unfortunately they frown upon kids under 11. But this place is worth the sitter!

Very Disappointed. First off, our waiter took our bags that we placed on the extra chair at our table and threw them on the window sill. I placed them back on the extra chair and he did it again and said«I need that chair». There were about 5 tables open. you would think he would be courteous enough to just let us use the chair. Rude. Secondly, he just seemed annoyed with us from the get go. I have waitressed at fine dining establishments as well as even a Houlian’s and in my opinion this kid was a PUNK. He was actually very cocky. When my brother in law mentioned nicely he had ordered something different and that he may have made the mistake the waiter said«No I wrote it down» He just seemed annoyed. We were very very nice to him. The waitress next to us seemed like she was much more pleasant. I wish we had her as our waitress. If I was paying the bill I wouldn’t have even tipped him 20%. Kid if you don’t want to wait tables don’t. Our bus boy with the goatie was adorable and so sweet though… make him a waiter and get rid of that other brat. As for the food. Sorry, but Wow really not impressed. The Sunday sauce was marinara and fresh but certainly not gravy like a real italian old school. The Salad with calamari was great… Caesar dressing very smooth and creamy. As for the Main Entrees the food was so so. I wouldn’t go back NOR recommend this restaurant. Was a nice change and close to Congress Hall but wow that kid really annoyed me. What a Brat! The food for what you receive was way overpriced and the money you spend on vacation you want someone pleasant that brings some enjoyment to your outing. The food wasn’t that great and the service… if that was better Maybe I would come back but the bratty waiter put the nail in the coffin for all of us. Too many other better establishments out there where you walk away and say«What a great place!»

Went there on 6÷21÷15 with my husband, while I enjoyed my dinner, he did not. He ordered the Clams Oreganata which were room temperature, extremely small and I was surprised they were not fresh clams as you’d expect at the beach. They were chopped within the breading and the breading was so lumpy and tasteless, not at all what he expected and he orders Clams Oreganata all the time. Not worth $ 14. For dinner he ordered the Veal Parm, it cost $ 32 and all they gave him two very small pieces of veal and they were not that tender either for Milk Fed Veal. We eat out once a week in NYC, North Jersey and Cape May and I’ve never seen Veal Parm for over $ 30 unless it’s a Veal Chop. On a positive note, he said the sauce was tasty. I had the artichoke heart appetizer and while I thought it was very good it came out cold, kind of surprised since they were deep fried. For my entrée I ordered the Chicken Luca for dinner which was very good. Overall the remodel from previous restaurant looked nice and the service was good, but overpriced for what you get. They ask to join their birthday club to get free items if you dine there on your birthday but they ask for you to give good reviews and note that on the card so they know you gave a good review so I’d be Leary of what you read. I guess you need to go there and try it out for yourself but remember the Clams and the Veal Parm are not worth it.

First time here and we will be back. The Sunday gravy is to die for. You must try it! Also tried the carbonara and it was equally as good. The bread and dipping sauce they give you as a starter was excellent. Service was also in point. This may be my favorite Italian place at the shore.
