This our go to place for special events, celebrations, or just wonderful delicious food. The menu is seasonally varied and beautifully presented. The service is always personalized and attentive. Did I mention good wine?

I had the Black and Blue chicken wrap and it was very good. Friendly service, we ate outside. Great location. Definitely would recommend!

We eat dinner here a couple of times a month. I had the crab cakes recently and that inspired this review. These were the best crab cakes we have ever had. LUMP my friends. Pure lump crab cakes with tasty sauces. No matter what you try, you cannot go wrong. From salads to appetizers to entrée, the chef has attention to detail. This is very fine cuisine for a rather ordinary and modest town.

This place is ridiculous. I ordered two pizzas and was met by a man who didn’t say a word to me yet looked at me the whole time like he was pissed off I was ordering a pizza from here. This place is too small and overall the service is terrible. no where to sit inside where I didn’t feel claustrophobic and outside the waitress didn’t even give us napkins after 20 minutes we left. Try the Pub or the Shanty. Even shore treasure the local convenience store has better pizza for way less. avoid at all costs. Also the manager had all his waitresses dressed skimpy and inappropriately as a feminist I think this place could use a new management.

Had dinner there last night, off season so only a few tables occupied, very attentive staff, interesting menu and limited but great value wine list. Food and service were very good, meats(tenderloin & lamb) were cooked exactly as requested and amounts were perfect. We both really enjoyed the meal and will call again!

Ordered 3 medium pizzas to go… pick up in 20 min.(Didn’t have banana peppers) Was there in 21 min and all I got was«it’s gonna be a couple minutes.» Was asked to pay for it at that time. Got the pizzas 10 min later. Three different toppings on the pizzas and they were all just okay. Waaaaay too much crust and without the toppings, the plain crust fails.

Called at 7pm on a Friday. Was told by phone person they were having a «bistro dinner» and we could not order to go. Also heard the employee saying«it’s an out of town number.» We own a home here but was using the cell. What difference does it make? You lost our loyalty as a new homeowner in historic Cape Charles. It’s a shame — was very interested in supporting your business but you refused us :(

Jim B. was right on point with his review. I was positively blown away by this tiny little place. I ordered the French Dip and was not disappointed. You know how sometimes diners have terrible au jus and you can’t even bear to dip your sandwich in it? Certainly not the case here. Actually, embarrassingly, the opposite. I was incredibly dismayed that I had leftover au jus at the end of my sandwich(an excellent conundrum) and was faced with a moral dilemma. Leave this amazingness behind? Or… succumb to the urges of bad manners? You know what I chose: I drank the rest and was a happy camper. The husband chose to order a medium cheese pizza with olives and mushrooms, with the intent that he’d take the leftovers home for lunch the next day. That didn’t work out for him very well, though he was kind enough to share a slice with me. He adored it – I felt it was a little oversauced and the bottom of the crust was way too hard for my preferences. I’m picky with my pizza, so I won’t altar my rating based on their pizza! Go go go.

This was a very pleasant find. I had heard of this place and that they will do regularly on Tuesday nights gourmet dining with a variety of different offerings each week. During the day it is a very good pizza and sandwich shop with seating or carry out. I happened to be in Cape Charles and although rarely do lunch, decided to give this place a try. For certain, this is not your average restaurant. I ask for the owner/chef’s bio and he was kind enough to indulge me. The chef’s name is Tim Brown and check this out. He is a nationally certified chef by the Culinary Institute of America and even taught at Johnson Whales University for 10 years. Tim also has several awards including Dish of Hampton Roads 2007, a gold medal in 2008, a silver medal in San Francisco 2009 and a bronze medal in 2010. Pretty impressive! Well I was in the mood for a good sandwich and ask him what was best, his Italian hoagie or the French dip. He indicated either was really good, it all depended what I was in the mood for. I thought the French dip would be a chance to see what the grill was up to so that is what I ordered. Now I ask, How in the world could this not be the best French dip in the world??? Starting with a homemade sourdough roll, slow roasted select eye of the round lightly grilled with fresh provolone cheese served with hot delicious au jus and a side of horseradish cream? The answer is, it was the best! You know things are looking good when you see the slicer on the table and out comes the fresh meat ready to be hand sliced only to be slightly grilled on a well seasoned grill. I was excited!!! The meat was top quality and the entire sandwich was perfection. I would defiantly go back and try it again or maybe the Italian. This is sort of a really cool little casual place with atmosphere that has a slight air of romance. He has some nice wine there(ABC on and off) a great place to go for a good sandwich and a glass of vino with your lady. I have also heard that the regular Tuesday night dinners are extremely good and we will have to try that one also. There is a cold box there with some salads and other stuff for the folks that are on the go along with an assortment of cold beverages. The interior was also clean and the bathroom was well maintained. There is no doubt that this is a five star sandwich. There is also pizza but I did not get a chance to try any, hopefully in the future. Pizza is so subjective and I am a bit of a pizza snob but still very much looking forward to trying it, I have heard good things and he certainly has the knowledge and tools to create a great pie. This is not a place to expect 100 different trendy variations of Americana food fare like a subway or some other chain sub shop. Hooked up is a place that you can expect a perfectly created hearty meal with high quality ingredients prepared by an award winning classically trained chef. How can you beat that? Prices are reasonable, service is always fun when you get to talk to the owner chef. Very polite gentleman who for sure knows his stuff. So next time your cruising on 13 and looking for an awesome French dip that is as delicious as it is hearty, Hook up gourmet is the place for you. It is in the quaint small town of Cape Charles and while you are there be sure to take in some of the very romantic small town retailers that is living proof that not everyone shops at Wally World. AMEN! Chow! Some Menu items while I was there: Lobster Bisque, Vegetarian on Herbed Focaccia Bread, Blackened Chicken Wrap with Blue Cheese and Red Onions, Chicken Salad Croissant, Slow Roasted Eye of the Round French Dip, and a Variety of Gourmet Pizza’s including a Black and Blue Hawaiian Pizza.(Blackened Chicken, Avocado, Blue Cheese, Motz, etc)

We ate here twice during our stay at the beach. On my first visit, I called a pizza order in and picked it up. The gentleman working was pretty nice and the pizza was really good! My wife went back with her parents though and said the guy was rude and the food was just OK. So, like the other reviews I think this place is hit or miss. I would probably order pizza again next time we’re in town. With a little more creativity and good attitude, this place could go a long way.

There are not many pizza places in this area. The pizza quality is hit or miss. Some days its so good and other days its a miss. I do think it is exensive pizza for the quality that you get. I have never eaten inside to get a full level experience on the service.

I waited one whole day before posting this review. I wanted to give myself a chance to actually think about the actual food not just the horrible service. 24 hours is not enough to forget what a horrible experience this place was. staff is rude including the owner who for some reason thinks he is a chef. food with Chef Boyardee pizza in a box quality. I guess in a tiny town with no competition you can pass of dog food is gourmet but hopefully anyone who sees this on Unilocal will pass straight on by. Go to the Food Lion get yourself a frozen pizza it’s better quality. we waited 45 minutes only to find out that our pizza have been sitting on the oven for 25 entire family 5 of us were sitting in plain view of the entire staff of the store they never called our names they never bothered to walk over and see if we need anything. there are NO fountain drinks and extremely limited stock of bottled drinks. I recommend avoiding at all costs.

We grabbed a crab roll for the beach. It was fine. This place is convenient and has no competition. With a little more effort, it could be great.

Avoid this place. Strangely rude and pretentious owner for such a wonderful town.
