Two thumbs up. A great facility where my friends and I were able to go sailing on Canyon Lake… largely a family facility for base personnel, we were surrounded by friendly people at all times. The park itself was nice and peaceful and we had no issues getting our boat out onto the lake. If you are able to access this park, I highly recommend taking advantage of the great amenities here.

We used the facility for lodging when we went to Schlitterbahn. We have a large family(6 kids) and the 3 bedroom cottage, which is a single-wide mobile home, was perfect for our needs. It came equipped with dishes and linens, though towels are not provided. It is located right beside the lake, making it an ideal spot. Also, there is a canopied playground in the middle of the lodging. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. You must be an authorized DOD patron to use the facility, however. Cost for the cottage is $ 110/night at this time.

I really liked it here. We used the military entrance. $ 7 to get in. I love that there is campers, trailers, and cottages to rent for overnight. It’s a very relaxing mood in this park. We seen many deer too. Everyone(which wasn’t many) we came in contact with was friendly. The grounds are clean. A few of the restrooms were closed but there are many throughout the park and we quickly found one that wasn’t. The kids had fun sitting and watching he sailboats take off and(I think) race each other. It was a great little day trip. We will definitely be back in fall for an overnight stay.

The grounds are great, but the accommodations are terrible! No towels and they don’t even make the beds for you. They just put a folded set of sheets on each bed, and we received the wrong sizes! Not to mention the ness have these covers on them that remind me of a toddler mattress cover so every time you move it makes a squishy noise! Also there isn’t a fitted sheet so the cheap sheets that fit only one of the four beds we had kept coming off. Ask the front desk for the correct size you say. Well, they leave at 3.30, so that isn’t possible. I actually find it hilarious that check in is 3pm, but then they finish work for the day at 3.30. Oh, and the front gate code call box doesn’t work so you have to use your cell phone to call a person to let you in the gate. Ridiculous! Oh, and I thought it was so strange that we had to go to our room to take inventory of everything on a huge checklist and take it back to the front desk(before 3.30!) to confirm everything is there. Like I said, the grounds are beautiful and we toasted marshmallows and saw deer roaming around, but this place is better for a day trip. Do yourself a favor and skip the accommodations.

We stayed in a two bedroom cabin over Christmas and had an AMAZING time! I really can’t believe what you get for such an amazing price! This place is a huge benefit for active duty, their family and retirees. Watching the deer graze right in front of our cabin, a cute little brown fox bouncing around, steps to the lake itself, amazing scenery, areas for the kids to play, BBQ’s, fire pits, nature walks… I mean I could live here. We went during the winter so we had no intention of doing anything with the water other than enjoy the view… but we do love water sports so we are already planning a trip for the summer! A must must must if you qualify to book a place. A very affordable and fun family vacation!
