I got a steak with loaded baked potato. The potato is very good. I ordered a medium steak it came out a little bit rare than normal. My recommendation is ordered a little more well done than you normally do. really enjoyed the steaks still. It was my first time in there since they remodeled I enjoy the atmosphere better now

Came for our anniversary dinner. The waitress was wonderful — no complaints at all about her. Saturday around 5:30 waited about 45 minutes which is expected here. 1 star lost when the special appetizer listed on the board at the entrance was no longer available.(Stuffed banana peppers) 1 star lost when my medium steak was nearly mooing. The side of shrimp and baked potato were left with me to eat or get cold while I waited for my steak to be put back on the fire. 1 star lost when the ingredients to make the specialty drink Peanut Butter Cup Martini was not available. We don’t get out alone very often so tonight was kind of a dud.

Last night I stopped in for dinner. I chose the t bone steak because I wanted to take the bone to my dog as a treat. The steak was so spicy that after a few bites I couldn’t eat it. I asked the waiter why would my steak be so spicy. I was told that perhaps it was cooked on the same spot that something blackened was cooked on. That kinda made sense to me. So I paid my check and left. On my way out I bumped into the manager. He advised me that they put cayenne pepper and Cajun spices on ALL their steaks! I was disgusted. That is very presumptions! I do not like spice! People should be given a choice and that should be posted on the menu! I am not the only one that evening who felt like this. There were two young couples seated to my left, and they were drowning their meat in steak sauce trying to mellow the spice. Finally they all gave up and took their food to go! So Beware!!! This Brown Derby cooks your food to THEIR liking.

I would eat here every 6 months. most time the restaurant not crowded. I would have to wait feel like im a ghost. I would wait for a table just to sit down. I would order the rib eye steak with French fry. a few time the rib eye wasn’t cooked the way I wanted. the potato was cold. the last time I ate there it was perfect. this place is a higher standard than most steakhouses in stark county. I will be back

Horrible service. when ordering a medium steak(25.00 porterhouse) it showed up well done. I sent it back. They brought me another, that was equally bar. Our waitress was otherwise distracted and unattentive. I left without eating an entrée, and the only thing i got was a bill dropped in our lap and, an oh sorry… have a good weekend. As we were walking out 2 other people got up and left due to horrible service. Beware. horrible.

My husband and I brought our daughter here for a late evening dinner. We walked in on a Thursday night, the place was almost empty, yet no one was at the hostess station. Finally a girl ran out and sat us at a table. We then sat there and waited in an almost empty restaurant, no one ever even came to offer us water! After looking at the menu and waiting and waiting, we got up and walked out. RIDICULOUS! This was our first time and our LAST! Charging those kind of prices And the worst service, correction NO service! Don’t waste your time or money!

Cozy would be the way to describe the atmosphere. Very competent would be how to describe the chefs(bordering on talented). Excellent wait staff. Our waitress was excellent attending to our needs perfectly. Good choice sirloin. A potato and 14 hands Cabernet. If you’re in the mood for a comfortable meal put this on your short list. I asked for a medium plus on my steak. The chefs masterfully prepared the meat perfectly. Again a very nice atmosphere and Holly, our waitress was perfect.

Wow. It doesn’t get any better than this. Arrived at 8 pm on a holiday weekend and got seated immediately. There is a pleasant waiting foyer with benches and fireplaces but we did not. need it. Our waitress was prompt, friendly and efficient. The salad with Bleu Cheese dressing was quite good. The greens were chilled and crisp and the Bleu Cheese dressing actually had nice big chunks of Bleu Cheese visible and edible. Yum! The rolls and butter were quite good. The butter is whipped and actually spreadable unlike hard rock butter patties that other restaurants serve that are totally unspreadable. The steaks were cooked to perfection. I had a sweet potato as my side and ordered a side of sauteed onions and mushrooms to top my steak. The steak is served with a side of steak sauce and the onions and ‘shrooms were enough for two people. House Chardonnay was quite good and dessert was not necessary on this visit as I was really full with my meal. As it should be. The only criticism is on the exterior of the restaurant. Although the restaurant is located in a huge shopping complex of stores malls and restaurants, the exterior of the Derby is quite dark and its difficult to see the driveway and where to turn in from Everhard Road if you have not been here or its your first visit.

Excellent steak. Very nice ambiance and the staff were very helpful. Will definitely go back again. The loaded potato was perfect! Their in house made blue cheese dressing is also excellent. Very kids friendly.

My experience wasn’t as horrible as the previous reviews indicated. I stopped in around 5:30 pm on a Tuesday and there were about 5 – 6 other parties already dining, more than I expected at that hour and I considered it a good omen. I only came here because my wife and I really enjoyed Brown Derby 35 years ago in Dayton, Ohio. I just had to try it again. I was greeted and seated immediately, and was able to see the cook and grill as I entered the door. My waitress arrived quickly and did a pretty good job throughout the dinner. The sourdough rolls and honey butter brought back instant nostalgia as I remembered them from my earlier visits. I ordered wine and later found out it was happy hour. The salad arrived quickly and was nothing special. I agreed to the T-bone which was on special that evening. The steak was flavorful and cooked a perfect medium, hust as I had ordered. It had a moderate amount of gristle. Not horrible, but I expected a better quality from a steak restaurant. The baked potato was excellent: cooked perfectly, large, and the skin was coated with salt. I did not opt for dessert. The atmosphere was casual. From outside the building looks a little formal, but the inside has a more casual, comfortable hunting lodge feel. You would be comfortable dressed up from work, but I also saw people in shorts. I will give them a weak 3 stars for both food and service.

Went on a weekday night. There was only one other table with patrons yet, the service was ridiculously slow. I could tolerate the slow service but, my Porterhouse was supposed to be cooked to medium, was cooked to well. Yay, shoe leather. I’ll go elsewhere next time.

As soon as you walk in you immediately love the smell, however there is a slight haze of smoke in the place due to the wood burning grill. The place actually looks pretty chincy. You can tell how poorly built the remodel was. As if they threw it together in a couple hours. The waitress was VERY nice but pretty slow. It was probably 8 – 10 minutes before we saw her. She was never in an area where we could just flag her down. Once we ordered it took 40MINUTES! ITWASFOREVER! We went on a Thursday night at 6p, it didn’t seem that busy I was there with a party of 10 and everyone was happy with their food except me. I ordered my steak medium and it came out well done. The waitress dropped off our food and came back to check on us within 1 min and before I was able to cut into it and check. Of course at that time I had no complaints. Once I got into the steak I realized it was well done however never saw the waitress again until everyone was done eat. I showed her the steak and she apologized. They manager removed it from my bill. OVerall everyone in my party was pretty happy, except the wait for the food. I will probably not return however I wouldnt be against someone trying it themselves for the first time. I would much rather go to Lucias which is right around the corner.

Worst restaurant experience I have had! Bar staff was drunk and out of control. At one point one bartender was yelling at my wife. Got management involved and they didn’t even apologize for the situation. My advice to anyone-STAY AWAY!!!

To preface, I would put 0 stars if it would leg me. This is the worst experience I have ever had in an establishment. We went in for after dinner drinks in the bar area at 9:00 on a Friday and had to wait 15 minutes before anyone acknowledged us. The other patrons at the bar were loud and very vulgar. We also witnessed the bar staff doing shots with other patrons. When the bartender came back to check on us, we commented to her about the behavior of the other patrons and she defended their behavior. We even spoke to the manager on duty who would not do anything. The bartender ended up arguing with myself and my mother while defending another drunk patron at the bar. Not even the general manager who was called would apologize for the lack of service in his establishment. I’m very disappointed in the lack of customer service shown by a place that is trying to rebrand and refresh it’s image. I will not be returning and I would suggest anyone looking for a nice, quiet time out should avoid it as well.

Since they’ve re-branded themselves as Girves Brown Derby they apparently think they can spike prices to make up for a lack of business.(The waitress told us that they haven’t changed the sign on the street yet because they can’t afford to get a new one.) The prices are way above the quality of the food and service. My wife and I went there on a Friday evening at 5:00 pm and there was only one other customer in the whole place, they took 5 mins to seat us, and our waitress was slow to get our drinks.(2 waters) I ordered the t-bone special and it tasted like they’d burned wood chips on the grill top to give my steak that classic diamond pattern. We’ve been back once since and the food was just as mediocre. The economic slump has not been good to this place.

The good: 1.) Great selection of food. Obviously, steaks are their specialty. They have all the popular cuts. 2.) The smell of the place is amazing, grilled steaks over real hickory fire. Your mouth starts watering as soon as you get out of your car. 3.) Giant portions. If you are a big eater, you’ll love this place. The baked potato’s(regular and sweet) are the size of small footballs. The steaks are right around 16oz. 4.) Killer salad. We were served family style, in a large bowl at the table and it was self serve. Their salads have all the right stuff — like what you’d fix at home. 5.) Fast, friendly staff/service The bad: Not much to complain about here. Their steaks are not prime choice. They are a little tough and a little fatty/gristley. I’d give the flavor and texture a 7 out of 10. Be prepared to spend $ 20-$ 25 for a good steak meal here, but I think you will find it’s a good value. We’ll definitely go back again.
