She never stops! Just came in to get my favorite Chocolate Mousse cupcake. Jae told me she is doing a «pop-up» in Seattle next Monday, November 2nd for her customers there. If you live in Seattle you should call to order some. THEBEST cupcakes/cakes ever.

Didn’t visit the store and should have read more reviews. Ordered two cakes over the phone, was very flexible with design and gave her a very high budget to celebrate two significant family events at a reunion. Thought she would WOW us, instead she delivered two very basic cakes with very messy frosting, including«whoppers» as a décor item, and one slightly wilted red rose. I could have done better myself and the frosting was so thick we literally couldn’t cut it — and not enough cake to hold it up — — and no one could eat it because there was too much frosting — almost an inch think patchy frosting in places as if the cake fell apart and she pieced it back together. Would not recommend. Super disappointed.

I ordered a cake for a large event(175 people) SIXMONTHS in advance. One week prior to the event, she called wanting to change the delivery DAY and time, which we had arranged SIXMONTHS in advance. She was requesting the change because she now had two other deliveries on that same day. I know when we placed our order that we were the only cake she had scheduled for that day, because I asked at the time we placed our order. Our venue was not available to us to have the cake delivered on a different day. On the day of the event, Jae arrived very late with the cake. She was then upset because no one was waiting by the door to let her in. We had been waiting, for an hour, but as I previously stated, she was late, and we were setting up for a large event. I had tried to call her for an update on her status, but she was unavailable via the only contact number I had. Once we realized she had finally arrived, we rushed to let her in. She offered no apologies, or acknowledgement to the fact she was late. She was, however, moody, snippy and angry with me and my staff. She barely finished setting up the cake moments before the start of our event. I am not vindictive. I am truly just relaying an honest account of my experience with placing a large order. The cake was delicious, I do not deny that fact. The professionalism, once the order was placed, was no where to be found.

Yes, we are indeed fans. Their cupcakes are very tasty. But $ 4.50 per cupcake is the spoiler for us. We are regulars at Bliss Cupcakes and their cost is 2 bucks per cupcake. Of course, Bliss is not in Cannon Beach and there is the rub. When in CB, expect to pay WAY more than anywhere else. Can you believe they charge 8 bucks for a pound of taffy at Bruce’s Candy Kitchen? That’s insane. Filet Mignon is cheaper than their candy! That’s why we spend more time in Astoria, Newport and Rockaway. Prices there are much cheaper for everything. You pay dearly for that view of Haystack Rock!

The cupcakes were great, but that was the only good thing about my visit there. We met with her to discuss our wedding cake, she was extremely rude, told us she wouldn’t make the flavor we wanted because«she doesn’t like the taste of it» its red velvet… who doesn’t like that?! She also threw a fit about us saying the cake will be eaten outside… She was extremely rude. I would not recommend her. She may be the baker, but if you’re going to work with brides(or anyone for that matter) it’s not about what you want/like, it’s about what we want!

Simply cakes by Jae makes the most amazing cakes and cupcakes. She made my daughter’s wedding cake and it was beautiful and delicious. My son in law doesn’t even like cake so it was especially difficult to find someone to make a cake he liked. There are other options in the area but I am happy we chose Jae! From ordering to set everything went smoothly and turned out beautiful!

Just tried the chocolate peanut butter cupcake. It is damn good! Moist rich chocolate cake with a rich peanut butter filling and dark chocolate ganache and whipped cream on top. High quality ingredients and expertly crafted. Better than the myriad cupcake places in my home of Seattle. Will be going back for more!

All of these reviews are true — Jae’s cakes are DELICIOUS. The cupcakes are well worth it, however, if you are considering getting a wedding cake from Jae, I would advise against it. Being on the Oregon Coast, she essentially has a monopoly on the wedding cake industry, as no one else(professionally anyways) does wedding cakes in Clatsop County, and certainly doesn’t deliver(1 star for delicious cake). Here’s what happened: We paid our deposit for our wedding cake 9 months before the wedding — at the time she told us we were her only wedding that weekend. GREAT, FANTASTIC! Well, as time went on, it was difficult to contact Jae. When she did finally return phone calls or respond to emails, she was usually less than pleasant. We paid her in full 3 months before the wedding, and we told her the timeline of our events for the weekend and told her when she would be able to deliver the cake. A month before the wedding, I send her another email, again telling her when she could deliver the cake, and letting her know when our flowers were being delivered, as she was going to need these roses for the cake. A week before the wedding I received a voicemail from her telling me that she would be delivering the cake the day before and had discussed this with our venue behind my back. After a day or two of phone-tag, I was able to finally reach Jae and inform her that delivering the cake the day before is not an option as the flowers would not be there for her then, and that it was our agreement that she would set up the cake, not us. At this point she informs me that she has 3(THREE) weddings including mine this weekend. Quickly turning into Bridezilla, I informed her that I did not care — we made an arrangement, she was paid for her services, and I expected my cake, on Saturday. We did agree that she could deliver the cake 1 and a half hours earlier than planned — which was exactly the time we began to have access to our venue at all — we literally could not have had it delivered any earlier. The day of the wedding comes. The flowers are delivered, and Jae is no where to be seen. She had said she would deliver the cake at 1:30 on the wedding day — she did not show up until 4. With guests arriving at 5, the ceremony beginning at 5:30, and the reception beginning in the same venue as the ceremony at 6, we had no time to spare. She delivers the cake, INTERRUPTS our wedding portraits to inform me that it is here saying, «It is beautiful»(at this point, I was nothing short of bitchy to her — we are nearing my tipping point). The rest of the evening goes off without a hitch. The next day, my sister send me a screenshot of her friend’s Facebook status telling a story about how she help«some cake lady» load a cake into my wedding venue the day of my wedding — apparently she had attempted to take the cake DOWN stairs in an attempt to get into the venue. From what I read, Jea was upset that she couldn’t get into the venue — What do you expect when you are 2 and a half hours late?! This is the straw that finally broke my back. Yes, the cake was delicious. But, if you want a wedding day devoid of stress related to if you will even have a cake at your reception, this is not the cake lady for you.

Super yummy cupcakes, in a quaint little shop. Jae, the owner and amazing cake baker took time to explain and answer all my questions, and I had many because for me, cupcakes are a serious decision! There were German chocolate, coconut cream, chocolate with chocolate mousse filling, raspberry and some others. I had zeroed in on the mousse and raspberry which I purchased. As I was checking out I noticed some chocolate chip cookies at the counter, and got 2 of those as well. I’m often on the hunt for a good chocolate chip cookie… I like mine soft in the center, a little crispy on the outside and loaded with chocolate so that the cookie has craters and peaks from all the goodies inside. I hit the mother lode! It even had nuts, which I think is important to cut the sweet. We took the cupcakes back to our room and enjoyed them later that day. I was super happy! Cake was moist, chocolate ganache rich and the fillings superb! If you enjoy cupcakes, I’d say go! I wish I lived closer… but maybe that’s a good thing or I might not fit through the door!
