I was looking through the Unilocal reviews and I knew that it was going to be a hit or miss situation. We decided to give it a try anyways. The restaurant is a lot bigger than it looks from the outside. There’s even a small gift shop at the entrance. We were seated right away and received our drinks. I ordered the strawberry crepes with a side of bacon and my boyfriend ordered the strawberry waffle. Food came out fairly quickly. My crepes tasted a little sour and off. I couldn’t quite pinpoint it but the batter for the crêpe tasted like it had gone bad or something. My bacon was extra crispy and super salty as if they added salt on top of the bacon. It was also very chewy despite being super crispy looking. My boyfriend’s waffle was really thin but still tasted quite good. It was sweet and didn’t really need any syrup on top. On his second to last bite, he spit out something black that rolled under my plate. We told the waitress about it and she said that we should have left it in the waffle as proof that it was actually in the food and we weren’t just trying to get a free meal. That made me a little upset. The waffle was completely covered in strawberries and whip cream. How were we suppose to see a small black item in it especially when we’re busy eating and talking to even look at the food closely. I’d think I shouldn’t have to inspect my food for foreign objects don’t you think? Overall, this restaurant really is a hit and miss. If you don’t want to waste your money then I don’t recommend taking the risk.

I actually don’t mind family style diners. Shari’s is a good place to stop if you’re on the road and hungry. So I really wanted to like this place. The ambience was just as you would expect. However unfortunately the food was just sub par. I had the Western Omelette(peppers, onion, tomato, cheese) with hash browns and toast. The hash browns were really good: nice and crispy. The toast was not toasted enough and became soggy quickly. The worst though was the omelette: the peppers, onion and tomato were raw inside the omelette. The massive amount of raw onions overshadowed the whole dish, resulting in me having to scrape them out. Needless to say, I didn’t enjoy my breakfast. There are other options available in town that are better.

Ding, dong. Hello? Our breakfast here almost ruined my enjoyment of one of my favorite songs from the musical, Book of Mormon. The opening song features a montage of the elders ringing doorbells and it is my go-to song for starting my day on a happy note. You know what’s not so pleasant? Hearing a door bell constantly ring throughout your meal… and we weren’t even sitting right by the door. There are three sitting areas and we were in the middle, so I feel sorry for the poor folks closer to the front door. Perhaps this wouldn’t have been so annoying(ding, dong) if the food and service were above par. Sadly, we had to(ding, dong) flag down the server(ding, dong) multiple times for basic requests. As an example, one person at our table(ding, dong) would order coffee and she wouldn’t ask the rest of the table(ding, dong) if they would like something. So off she goes to fill one order and(ding, dong) completely misses the opportunity to sell more items. The place was busy, but not to where the service issues made sense. As a pancake house, in my opinion is that it isn’t as good as Shari’s or IHOP. And those aren’t really high bars, are they? The restaurant is located at the southern end of the main part of Cannon Beach and has a small, cramped parking lot. There really aren’t that many other casual family dining breakfast options in town, so I get why they are popular, but just not very good.

«Garden Skillet» conjures up visions of fresh vegetables from one of the many wonderful Oregon farms. Instead, what I got were obviously previously frozen veggies, mushy and devoid of color. Same thing with the fruit plate. Disgusting. The service was pleasant.

This last trip to Pig ‘N Pancake cost my wife and I a fortune! This restaurant has a tiny parking lot with almost no room to turn around. While attempting an «Austin Powers» turn around I nailed the curb in the picture. The resulting 5 mph collision caused an instant sidewall puncture. We limped back down the hill and I put the spare tire on. I felt stupid for letting this happen to me. I consider myself a very good driver. I was once involved in a fender-bender in 1992 and that’s it. In this case, I just couldn’t see the rediculously high curb. Pig N’ Pancake, why the hell is this curb so awkwardly high and weird?! Anyway, neither Les Schwab in Seaside nor Costco in Warrenton had my wife’s tire size so we’ll be limping it back home to Vancouver tomorrow at 50 mph. And for some reason, after all this, we still ate breakfast here. The food and service were pretty good, but the coffee tasted off.

I’ve been coming here since I was a kid, and the decorating – an late-80s take on a seashore theme – hasn’t changed. Get a table by the window so you can enjoy the view and not the lighthouse wallpaper border. Other reviews say it’s dirty, but it’s always been clean when I’ve visited. This place is essentially a diner, and their diner breakfast options are delicious(and huge), their hashbrowns are crispy, and their organic dark roast coffee is delicious. The man indulged in the kielbasa skillet, and I indulged in three cups of that coffee. A big score was finding out they have gluten free bread, which wasn’t on the menu, and they whipped me up a great eggs benedict on GF toast. What else could I want in life?

The 2 stars come from the service. Of course, it was a slow Sunday morning, so there’s that. The sourdough pancakes were the foulest thing I’ve put in my mouth in a long time. I still can’t get the taste out of my mouth. I’m not sure I didn’t eat poison just now. I might save them in case ISIS invades my home.

‘Swedish Pancakes’ were ridiculous, huge but all air and crispy, tiny amount of fruit. Edible but not enjoyable. Omelet was acceptable, I’d make nicer at home myself. Accompanying pancakes were OK, the best of a bad bunch. Coffee was not good, I’d swear the mocha was made with filter coffee, was bland and did not taste of chocolate at all. Overall quite disappointing, we won’t be back.

Solid 3 rating. This is much better than a Denny’s with American size portions. My wife had he crab Benedict and hash browns. The hash browns wet cooked as she ordered I.e. Crispy… The Benedictus were good albeit pretty standard. A good solid breakfast. The best casual choice in Cannon Beach.

Been coming here for years. Usually get top notch service and pretty dang fine food. This year something was amiss. Had my usual, the Swedish crepes. Been ordering them for the last 10 years. Love them. So, why are they now like crispy potato chips? You can’t cut them, they actually shatter into pieces. I talked to the server. She insists that the way they’ve always made them. Ummm, no. She did take them away and brought me more, only mildly crispy. My daughters crab Benedict tasted«off» as well. Perhaps just an off day for P & P?

Every time I come to cannon beach I make sure to at least have one breakfast here! The food is always great and the atmosphere is nice. This service can be spotty. Very neat older diner atmosphere! Near the cash register take note of the Kiss autographed picture! I heard a member lives near this and always comes in!

Bacon great. Service crap. Place is dirty and reminds me of a low budget Dennys. Most likely won’t be back. Prices a bit high but it’s Cannon Beach…

«Their bacon is the stuff of dreams.» — my kid. To fully enjoy Pig ‘n Pancake, you have to know a few things. First: get there early, or be prepared to wait. Its popular, and waits can be long, which is hard when you consider we’re talking about breakfast here. Next: the decorating scheme is 1980s-era Holiday Inn. Get over it. I recommend looking out the window at the trees and blackberry bushes outside. Now, order. Start with a friendly server who will offer you a choice of coffee — the organic strong stuff? Or would you prefer the house blend? It will come quickly, but you may need some time with the menu because there are so. many. choices. Pecan Pancakes? Sourdough pancakes? Swedish style thin ones? Little buttermilk silver dollars? It’s all good. I can say that with conviction because I’ve eaten nearly everything in the menu at some point. The bacon isn’t some wussy little crispy strip, it’s a big, meaty slice. The butter that crowns the pancakes is light and salty and creamy smooth. The sausage patties are nicely seasoned. The sourdough pancakes fill a plate and are light as air, even after you drench them in syrup(maple or strawberry, or both if you like). The biggest problem with Pig ‘n Pancake is deciding what to have. The only solution I’ve found is just to keep coming back, to order the things I didn’t get on the last visit. I’m never sorry I did.

Nicest. Staff. Ever! Honestly, the servers are the nicest people I’ve ever encountered at a restaurant. They’re fast, efficient and friendly. They went above and beyond in striking up conversation, making sure my coffee cup never ran dry. In a world where authenticity is increasingly rare, the ladies at Pig ‘N Pancake are keeping the spirit of small-town service alive and well. Honestly(part II), the food is not supercalifragilisticexpialidocious good, but it’s comforting and the portion sizes are pretty generous. I ordered the strawberry waffle combo with scrambled eggs and bacon. The bacon slices were the longest I’ve ever seen! A bit salty, but they counterbalanced the waffle well. The eggs were fluffy and moist, but not greasy or undercooked. Altogether, it was a great deal. If you’re ever in the Cannon Beach area, I definitely suggest you make Pig ‘N Pancake a part of your morning :)

This local chain rates a slight notch above a Denny’s or IHOP. Earnest service and a good kids menu are a plus. Minuses are the fake(Smucker’s-like) jams in little packets, cream in little creamer packets, and fake(non-maple) syrup. Not exactly farm to table. If in a pinch with kids on the coast, it’s not a bad bet.

Cute place with a pretty traditional breakfast menu. I mentioned to the waitress that is was my son’s birthday when we added ice cream to my son’s breakfast crêpe. It resulted in all the waitresses gathering to sing to him and bringing him a balloon. This was pure magic for our 5 yr old and we really appreciated it. The food was tasty. I wouldn’t say anything stood out to make it spectacular, but with limited choices in Cannon Beach, we would definitely come back.

The waitress was genuine and friendly and the service was prompt! I’d get here early on a weekend to avoid any crowds and loud kids, as it’s definitely a family joint. Is that the cutest name for a place or what?!:) Thumbs up.

As another reviwer mentioned, I’m floored at comparing this place to a chain like Denny’s. I thought it was a super cute and clean little place and we loved all of our food. I had the eggs Benedict with Dungeness crab and was happy with my meal. We also ordered sourdough french toast with strawberry compote and it was awesome(we split it amongst all four of us at the table) — a great«dessert» to our breakfast. The fact that they used sourdough elevated it from just regular french toast and if I ever make it back there, I’ll certainly be getting it again. Also, since we were having dessert, I ended up ordering a half portion of the eggs Benedict. You don’t see that option a lot, but it was great to be able to try two things and not leave the place with a waddle. I didn’t give the Pig ‘N Pancake a five because the parking lot is crazy and our waitress had a bit of an attitude. We all got the impression that she didn’t approve of the modifications one person in our party requested to her meal. Everything came out okay, but there weren’t any niceties spared by this server. A smile and a «thank you» would probably have been all I needed from her to push this rating to a 5.

Now I may only have eaten at crappy Denny’s and Shoney’s before, because I’m floored at all the reviews I’ve read comparing Pig ‘N Pancake to those diners. On my recent vacay to Cannon Beach, I had THE best breakfast I’d eaten in a long time at Pig ‘N Pancake! Good thing I was traveling with friends, because I can’t parallel park to save my life. Parking situation sucks — the lot is super tiny, and then you’re relegated to on-street parking. But once we got the car between two lines and went inside… oh, happiness! We got there in between major meals, so our wait time was only about 5 minutes, barely long enough to look at all the pig-themed souvenirs for sale in the register area. Quickly seated, we were also promptly served by a waiter who kept my coffee cup full from the moment it was first poured. I settled on the Manhattan crepes, while the girlfriends ordered gluten-free pancakes, plus we had mounds of eggs and bacon. Seriously, for three skinny girls, we put away about a ridonculous amount of pork and enough eggs to shame Rocky Balboa. All the different pancake syrups made me giddy… the standard maple and strawberry were available, but they also had the mysterious marionberry(had to Google what that even is!) and coconut!!! I’m an island girl, so that coconut syrup stole my heart. I cannot believe how much food I ate for under $ 15, including tip! What we also loved so much about the Cannon Beach Pig ‘N Pancake is the treehouse-like vibe we got. Built on stilts, with windows lining the restaurant, you’re surrounded by trees, making you feel like you’re a very full-tummied member of the Swiss Family Robinson. So if you’re on holiday in Cannon Beach, plan to get to the diner at an «off time,» if you don’t want a wait. The food is definitely worth it, even if you have to stand around with other tourists for 20 minutes. Need Pig ‘N Pancake in Ohio!!!

We waited for an hour to get our breakfast, but it tasted good. We kept having to ask for cream for our coffees, but since they never came, we took some from empty tables. I ordered the Country Fried Skillet which was a tender country fried steak on a bed of crunchy hashbrowns topped with gravy and cheese. A lot of places will make the gravy or hash browns too salty, but this one was just right. I added a little ketchup and black pepper to do it my way. The others in my party mentioned how delicious their pecan pancakes were. Syrup was on the table… Dont you hate when they give you just a shotglass of syrup? BTW… Don’t expect your Capitol Hill brunch experience here. They sell toys and gift shop stuff up front and greasy, cheesy breakfast inside a wallpapered and carpeted dining room. I understand the appeal of eating a bourbon maple syrup cinnamon bun under exposed ventilation and brick, but this is just not meant to be that way. It’s a family-friendly greasy spoon and the food fits that just fine. So the bad: Too few parking spots and it’s a mess trying to get out if none are available. Slow service. The front area seems pretty disorganized.
