Stopped in here with the boys and enjoyed some delicious ice cream. There were so many choices to choose from it was a little overwhelming. There isn’t really any place to sit and enjoy your ice cream unfortunately. It started to pour while we were there and ended up just standing under a small awning to eat our ice cream. Definitely worth a stop if you are nearby.

What is it with Ohio and Ice Cream? I was introduced to a Ohio brand – Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream – a few years ago and even got to meet the wonderful Jeni when she was in Chicago. Jeni’s is tops in my book(even over some of local Illinois favorites. Shhhh, that’s supposed to be a secret). Well, now I got to try another Ohio ice cream. My aunt tells me that we should go to Handel’s and get their Buckeye Ice cream at least once while I’m in town. I did some intel and see that Handel’s has been around for a while(1945!) and still makes their ice cream fresh every day on their premises. So on a hot summer evening we took part on what looks to be a favorite pastime of local Ohioans. Stood in line for some GREAT ice cream. We each ordered some for the now and then ordered some pints(they fill them fresh to order) for later. People were milling about on the benches or in their cars or sitting on their cars enjoying the wonderful fresh flavors Handel’s has to offer. I tried their Pink Champagne Sherbet and it was delicious. Sweet, pretty in pink, and reminiscent of a subtle bubbly. I also tried the Coffee and Buckeye the next day via our take home pints and they were also so good. Creamy and Rich. I definitely preferred the ice cream Buckeye over the candy buckeye I had from Gorants. Friendly service and a home grown company steeped in tradition. I love it! Again, what is it with Ohio and Ice Cream? They know how to do it right!

Best ice cream in Ohio. I love the Graham Central Station. This is probably my favorite ice cream ever.
