We’ve been to all the other Mexican restaurant’s in the Asheville area and this is our favorite based on food quality and service. The owner greets you as you walk in and make you feel very welcomed. I have had the Pollo Creama each time and it is amazing. My wife had the the Mexican Ribeye, which I sampled more than once and it too was amazing.

On a bicycle trip in Asheville area, Mexican is a must. Lucked out finding this great restaurant. The wait staff was pleasant and quick with the great food that was served. The owner is there and very gracious and appreciative. I really did well with my food choices in this seemingly out of the way called Candler.

The food was delicious and the portions were very generous. The menu was very large and they had a section devoted to vegetarian options. I had the Burrito Combo which had two kinds of meat and lots of veggies and was served covered in red enchilada sauce and cheese. It was so tasty! They bring you chips and bean dip when you sit down but if you prefer salsa with your chips, there were several salsas to choose from at their salsa bar.

Amazing service and food. I was road tripping with my dogs through Asheville and was in need of lunch. Saw the outdoor patio so figured the place might be dog friendly. Walked inside and was greeted by the manager. He told me the patio wasn’t open yet. I explained my situation. He said, «Well you won’t be drinking, right?» I was in desperate need of a margarita… He allowed us to sit out on the patio and enjoy our lunch with margaritas, and shots… Food was excellent as well.

I’d driven past this place daily for the last couple of years and wondered about it. Well, I wonder no more. New favorite Mexican food destination! Started with(of course) a Dos Equis grande and the always-present chips and salsa. This was the first hint that this was going to be a great meal. Their salsa bar is superb. Nine choices including a guacamole-style tomatillo that was garlicky and delicious. We also had the table-side guacamole which was fantastic. Entrees continued to impress. Easily the best Chile Rellones in Asheville. Three full poblano peppers stuffed with real cheese and topped with a green salsa. Spinach enchiladas were also superb. Easily on the return-often list.

We found this place as we traveled and boy are we glad we did!!! Excellent food and friendly staff. The guacamole was outstanding. We had the biggest chimichanga I’ve ever seen! The fajitas and polo comarana were great. My tamal was one of the best I’ve had, but the best thing I ate was the avocado taco… I’m in love… get it… why are you reading this still when you could be eating that taco???

Horrible management. I paid for a pre-paid gift certificate and they refused to honor it. I would avoid this place atmosphere is not good and owners have no clue how to run a business.

Several of our friends have recommended their favorite Mexican restaurants in and around Asheville, but none of them have e we come close to Botanas and Beer. The food is fantastic and the staff is always very friendly. We go at least once a week, and we’ve never been disappointed with anything.

Great fast service. Margarita’s were cheap and they were not bad. The bean dip comes with the tortillas and the food was good.

So happy to have this restaurant in my neck of the woods. My family and I think the food is much better than the other«…and Beer» restaurants around Asheville. Also you don’t have to deal with the hoards of other people. You can actually have a conversation wothout yelling. The staff are very attentive and informative. They have always been able to answr any question we may have had and/or make great recommendations. This is veru helpful since they have an extensive menu. They also have made substitutions with a smile. The only improvement I would suggest(and its minor) would be to change the way they give drink refills. Instead of bringing a new glass, they will pick up your current glass(with the straw if you arent quick enough to retrieve it), fill the same glass and return it to you. That’s just a pet peeve of mine. Portions are large, prices are not. Great for families with kids or a night out with friends. Definitely a repeat!

New place, just opened. I asked what was good and the waitress recommended the«Choripollo». It is a grilled chicken breast with Chorizo, onions and mushrooms. It was grilled to perfection and very good. Chips and bean dip are good too. If u bring your kids, beware bean dip is pretty spicy! It is very good though! They have a salsa bar and nice cold beverages for adults and kids. Everything seems to be clean and fresh. Really hope this place lasts!
