The Winery was a pleasant stop for my wife and I after we had spent several hours in the Kettle Moraine State Forest. On this October day, the shop had a wall of preserves and wine, a large table covered with several varieties of apples, shelves with several tempting chocolates and candy, baked goods and a nice selection of locally produced gourmet fudge(you will have to see them; I thought they were decorated cheesecakes of several favors!). I agree with an earlier post that the service is great. The gentleman who answered my questions was extremely kind and patient. And he volunteered to warm my apple fritter, too! Unlike an earlier post, I think that their honey crisp apples are fine. I have a sweet tooth and eat honey crisps regularly, so they can’t be lacking sugar entirely! They aren’t quite as crisp as the apples that we buy in a grocery store, but they are every bit as juicy! For such an isolated shop, everything was wonderful and very well maintained. Stop by their shop, enjoy some food and let us know what YOU think!

I stumbled across Armstrong through the Wisconsin Winery Association website and was delighted to learn that they are not only a winery, but an orchard as well. In addition to wine and fruit, they sell preserves, WI made honey and syrup, baked goods, cider and fudge. I was pleased with the wine tasting and surprised to find that even their sweet honey apple wine was dry enough for my taste buds. Out of 4 wines available for tasting, only the mead was too sweet for my preferences, but I still recommend it for people who enjoy sweeter, dessert wines. In addition to my 3 bottles of wine, I purchased some preserves, some fudge(pumpkin pie and apple pie fudge!) and some peaches. Everything is delicious and I’m anxious to head back and pick up some more!

Armstrong Apples is a charming location with super friendly staff, great eco-friendly fruits, yummy wines and wicked delicious preserves. Yay! Some highlights: A sweet little woman brought us peaches to chomp on while we browsed. Along with our peaches, she handed us each a napkin and proclaimed, «You are gonna need it!!» She was right. The peaches were super juicy and fantabulous. The gentleman giving us wine samples was incredibly friendly and got us crazy excited to come back when their peach and raspberry wines are ready in a few weeks. The apples that I bought are delicious and in line with grocery store pricing— less expensive than apples at my local farmers market. The cutest little dogs were hanging out around the shop(WAY better greeters than at Walmart!) After petting one of the dogs, I had a furry little shadow for part of our trip. They have a Zorb! You know, those big inflatable hamster ball things. I unfortunately had too many adult beverages the night before to attempt rolling around in it, but it looked wicked awesome. The Peach Butter(basically really smooth peach preserves) that I bought are insanely good. I could eat the stuff by the spoonful if I wasn’t raised full of Catholic guilt. A side note of awesomeness: On the way to Armstrong Apples we passed MULLETVIEW Road.(Yes, we did stop and take pictures of the sign.) All in all, we had a great time with our first trip to Armstrong Apples Orchard & Winery and I am looking forward to exploring more during our next visit. Perhaps a hayride through the orchards is in my future!

What a super pleasant surprise to find this Apple orchard. I am really into buying local and buying organic. I INITIALLY was disappointed to hear they were not organic until they SCHOOLED me on ECO-APPLES. However, they grow and discourage pests through mating disruption, pheromones, etc… They try to limit the amount of sulfur they use as well. They are a part of the Wisconsin Eco-apple Project, for more info see So a great small business, family run, 4 generations working on the farm. The owner took us out on a golf cart and gave us a tour, along with a great science lesson in pest management!!! Delicious and nutritious apples AND peaches. They are passionate about being eco-friendly, about picking when the fruit is fully ripe on the tree, even about HOW they pick so as not to bruise the fruit. They also have a selection of baked goods, we tried the apple fritter(they soooo kindly heated it up and split it for us!) and it was wonderful. Had apple turn-overs, pies etc… They also sell wine, but we did not sample any. Other goods sold include local maple syrup and honey(they have their own bee hives). My only qualm is the honey crisp apples are not as sweet as I like… but seriously, great business, great mission!!!
