It’s unfortunate that this place changed owners a few years ago. The quality, service and selection of items has completely diminished. The salads used to be amazing. They no longer make their own dressing and their selection of sandwiches is sad. People working there are bored and appear as if you are slightly imposing on them in some way. It’s conveniently located, that’s about it.

The idea behind Zigo is so good but the execution is so bad. I only go there when I don’t have time to go anywhere else(it’s located inside my office building). I generally end up throwing away most of what I buy because it just doesn’t taste good. I have tried nearly everything they offer and have yet to find something genuinely tasty that I’d buy again. What they’re trying to do is not complicated. I don’t understand why they can’t get it right.

The quality of the food has changed drastically. Tried twice to call regarding some dried up chicken salad; she dropped the call both times. On the third call to them — they let the phone ring off the hook…

I’m sure they do a fine business, mainly based upon their strategic location, but they could do soo much better. Zigo owners, if you read this, please move toward better quality, more natural ingredients. The food, as it is, is way overpriced. That said, I would have no problem paying your prices for better quality food. Instead, you lose my business(and that of most people in my office) to other lunch providers in the area.

I ordered food yesterday for our company’s exec board meeting — about 25 people. I had a really good experience with Zigo catering. Every person I dealt with — from the person who took my order to the delivery person who helped me set up – was polite, helpful, and accommodating. Many people complimented the food, expecially the Spiced Pumpkin and White Bean wrap and then the side of sweet potato salad mixed with wild rice. Delicious! I personally loved the thai peanut noodles too. Unique food and people felt like they were getting something really gourmet. Made us look classy in front of our board members. Highly recommend!

I have mixed feelings about this place. The coffee is eh The chocolate covered almonds are delightful! The food selection is good but the food quality is ok. And they feel like they are a bit more expensive than you would expect. I’ll still go for the almonds.

I thought this place was a café but it turns out it’s actually more of a high end convenience store. They have packaged sandwiches(some inside these fancy heater contraptions), pasta, salads, drinks, yogurt, cookies, and dried snacks. I was allured by their heater thingey so I got a tuna melt. It was ok– the bread was too chewy and the cheese more congealed than melted. It was pricey too, $ 9 for the tuna melt and a drink. They close early and are closed on the weekend. Next time I want a packaged sandwich, I’ll either go to Pret, where its fresher and yummier, or 7 – 11, where it’s cheaper and they’re open 24⁄7.

Went into this place a few months ago to get something quick to eat because it was raining out. The pre-made sandwiches looked pretty bland, so I decided to get wet and go somewhere else. I’ve seen people in my office come back with these sandwiches because they are short on time. I guess it’s better than a cup of noodles, but definitely nothing to write home about. Not impressed.

I’m sorry. As happy as I am that Zigo has adjusted its hours, I am very displeased that its coffee has changed. Bye Bye Jim’s Organic … Hello, gas station coffee. You are no longer on my fave coffee list. :((((((((

I’ve started going here again after a long hiatus. The selection of food has improved; I especially recommend their chicken pot pie. They still don’t do decaf coffee, which is a bummer — I’d much rather give my $ to a small business like this than Starbucks or ABP. The staff are still v friendly and slightly odd; like former cult members, secretly pining for all their pals back in the compound

I order catering from Zigo pretty much anytime we have work lunch that’s in need of sandwiches. Their ingredients always seem fresh and taste yummy. The presentation is also always a hit, and the delivery is typically on time and facilitated by very nice and helpful people. The salads are amazing(the greek salad is always gobbled up in no time), and their fruit salads are always fresh as well. Richard and Peter are always very helpful and know our routine by now, so very easy to work with. I am sure I will be ordering from Zigo many more times! Oh, and the reason for only 4 stars vs 5 is because they are a bit on the pricey side. But considering how pleased everyone seems to be with them, it’s worth it to pay a little extra, instead of paying less and getting complaints from people.

I can’t go above«Meh. I’ve experienced better,» but I have to say this — every time I go in there, which is too much, the staff is SO friendly! I have no idea why they’re so nice, because, face it, we’ll all go there anyway, but it’s always a pleasant surprise to hear a genuine«have a nice day.» Everything is high, around $ 7 or $ 8 at least, but you always have a selection of hot and cold sandwiches, pasta, and the occasional soup(there’s always at least one soup). And the convenience just can’t be beat.

Quick, good, pricey. That’s pretty much how I’d describe Zigo. It’s in my building, and really appealing when I don’t want to go face the cold. The blackened chicken over alfredo is pretty delicious. Some people like their Indian stuff. Haven’t tried their salads. They hvae a lot of stuff to chose from, mac and cheese, sandwiches, soups, etc etc. So you are bound to find something you like. It’s better if you find something hot in their warmer, because I’ve never been able to microwave the cold stuff to heated perfection, and they don’t really give you any re-heat instructions. I could ask, but, i don’t want to be known as the guy who can’t microwave… which i may or may not be doing now, by revealing my inadequacies as a re-heater.

We ordered from Zigo Catering for our holiday party and everyone LOVED the food! Richard and Peter were so helpful and patient during the ordering process. The delivery guys were funny, efficient and super nice. The Butternut Squash Tortellini and Sesame Crusted Chicken with Thai Noodles were DELISH. And the Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Holiday Salad? Nom nom nom! The only not-great food was the steak, which ended up being a bit tough and fatty. For dessert, we got a pastry platter and a Poinsetta Roulade, which had NOTHING left as it was amazing — rich, creamy — pretty much fudge in a cake. They also did little touches — name cards for the food, nice white platters that were ours to keep, etc. — that just added to the experience. There’s a location near where I work, and I definitely plan on getting lunch there in the future(I’ve tried their chili and WOW! So great).

Not a bad little place. They have some wonky Sandwiches sometimes, but overall pretty good. Kind of pricey for a little wrap. They have neat pastas you can heat up and the people always say hi to you when you come in. I think they do catering now.

In the interest of full disclosure, I know the owners. However, they’d get five stars even if I didn’t. My review is based on the 2+ years they have served as our go-to caterer for a variety of work functions, ranging from lunch meetings for 6 or 8 to breakfast, lunch and«breaks» for 50+ person programs. Catering: The folks at Zigo will blow you away if you have an adequate budget and afford them a degree of creative leeway. Even after 2 years, I’m continually amazed by the new creations they come up with and am rarely disappointed by anything I taste.(And trust me, I taste ALL of it.) Retail locations: While you’re obviously limited to the selections offered up day-to-day, there’s always something for everyone. Will you spend more than $ 10 on lunch? Perhaps, but in my opinion the variety makes Zigo one of the few places in Kendall Square worth spending as much on a meal. Try the Chicken Tiki Masala, Thai Peanut Noodles, or if you are in the mood for a sandwich the hot steak, cheese, and sage mayo sub or the cuban.

And now, to borrow from Stewart Gilligan Griffin, a compliment sandwich for Zigos(even though I didn’t have a sandwich from here today). They do decent catering. Fruits and breads and what have you. Good stuff. That being said, I’m not a fan of their take out stuff. It’s a little pricey, there isn’t much in the way of nutritional information on the boxes beyond ingredients, and it’s only okay. My cobb salad, as an example, was okay, but the overwhelming amount of lettuce made the meal a little eh. The service is quite good. And it is nice that the food is set and ready to go, even if it’s a little off sometimes.

I don’t know what Zigo’s real deal is but I can tell you this much. I was there a couple of times because frankly I was in a hurry and was hungry as hell and I’ve never left with a bill under $ 15. It’s really, really expensive for what it is, especially considering that everything there is pre-made. They have a great concept, lots of various sandwiches, salads, entrees, etc… but the problem is that because they sit there for a few hours, they don’t taste too good once you eat them. They fell slate, almost artificial. To compensate for that, they add lots of mayo in their salads, and I’m sure they snuck in a few things in their sandwiches too to make them more«shelf-proof». Aside from that, the fact that they had some dishes from all over the place, Brazilian salads, Indian entrees, etc. that’s really cool. They have unique beverages like the minty flavored mineral water and a bunch of other stuff that you wouldn’t really be able to find everywhere else… but once again, that variety comes at a price for the consumer. Their staff is great though, always eager to help and smile. But at what price?

Hunger tremors are often quelled by what’s most convenient and accessible. This holds especially true when the cold/rain makes leaving the building for lunch psychologically difficult. Thanks then are due to Zigo, the gourmand’s convenience store. Branding abounds as though a franchise is itching to evolve from this single location. Sandwiches are mildly unique, like wasabi tuna or chicken and cranberry, but they’re still overly moist and floppy from a bagged life on the shelf. Salads fair better and feature a fibrous mix of ingredients. There are interesting tubs of minestrone, thai chicken, and tikka masala ready for reheating in a dirty microwave. The greatest gift that Zigo brings to the table has to be the«Taco Burrito» which is exactly what it sounds like. Zigo surrounds one with lot’s of ostensibly imported little snack pleasures and charges a wee bit more for their sense of upscale eating on the go. Relatively speaking, Zigo has some nice convenience store options, but if the weather is acceptable I always go somewhere else.

Oh Zigo, you flounce upon the biotech and computer industry in Kendall Square like this is Silly-con Valley, and we are all these business casual fun folks who work hard making Java McDoodles in AJAX while making fake genetically engineered skin grafts out of stem cells taken from your fat. Notice their slogan of «Good Food For Busy People». Not awesome, not KICKIN’ RADRASBERRY, not delicious. Just good. And it is just that. Good to «okay» food that you have to microwave in these little containers that remind me way too much of your left-overs from some restaurant that serves too much food. Like if you went to the Cheesecake Factory and it was actually edible. The guys who work there decent enough, but I find the prices too high, the food too bland and unsatisfying to really make me give an average rating or actually go there on a regular basis. I mean 5 bucks for a tiny leftover bin of noodles? Thanks but… I’ll pass.
