Last month my son and I had the good fortune to go out to mobius for their Drawing Marathon 2 @ mobius event … fantastic stuff! Mobius artist group member Margaret Bellafiore set up a non-stop drawing event that went from noon to dawn in the new mobius space out on Harrison Avenue. When Maceo + i arrived at the space, trombonist Tom Plsek sat central to the mainRoom playing a very droneDriven piece that climbed and descended, audioMetaphorically similar to old school planeFlight. We immediately went to work with the supplies I brought and both of us came up with some interesting work. Following Plsek as the performance artist Lewis Gesner … his contribution to the marathon was an endurance + process oriented piece involving an extremely tall stick + a sequence of martial-arts-like moves repeated in a very confined far-off box(closer to the farthest windows). Maceo + i had a fantastic time … and it just so happened that the Sound for Dynamic Media course I had been taking over the summer at The Dynamic Media Institute already had me keenly aware of the concepts one might use to visualize sound. An amazing event … I can’t wait to finally share some pictures from the event … coming soon ;]
