Damn fine establishment. Everything we had was good(pork tacos, Barbados, street corn, tostada). Will be back

Overpriced for what it was, with loud music to cover it up. I’m a small woman and love places like Loco in Southie, but the two tacos were thin, full of onions and the staff were jerks to my boyfriend and I. Guac was almost mayonnaise-ey and I saw the staff being mean to a guy at the bar when he just tried to use the amenities. All around weird vibe. Is all of Cambridge like this?

Small space, but great food and service! Everything on the menu calls my name and sounds ridiculously good. My wife and I loved the Grilled Street Corn. Hope to make it back soon!

Great food, service and drinks. The only frustrating part is it is a bit small, but not much they can do about that.

Such a bustling, quaint little place. Brunch was amazing. My mouth is still tingling from the spicy Bloody Mary and jalapeño corn cakes. DAMN! HOTDAMN!

My go-to taco place. When I need my fish taco fix at midnight on a Wednesday, or any day for that matter. Everything is pretty good but the fish tacos take it all. Crispy with delicious aioli and the perfect pickled cabbage. Plenty of beers and margaritas to make you happy, too. Not too big of a space but I like that, more intimate. Everyone is friendly and I’ve never had to wait for a seat. Plenty of street parking at this location as well.

Listen, I know you are from California because you are wearing a sweatshirt that you apparently think looks like a suit jacket. You are wearing Tom’s shoes with a hole in the toe in the middle of January. And you are saying something about avocado varieties. While your appearance is chill, I also notice the passive aggressive side eye you are casting about. I also know you are responsible for Ronald Reagan, California, and prop 2 ½, both of which have impoverished our state’s public infrastructure severely over the past generation and a half. So calm down, and for the love of god, stop telling me about«mexican food» and«tacos» in California, ok? Just shove one of these lone star taco bar tacos into your mouth hole and accept it for what it is. The taco is not supposed to be some lofty artisinal ideal. It shouldn’t be about the freshest ingredients, the most culturally authentic presentation, or celebrating your state’s place in the universe. The taco is comfort food, a perfect delivery system for 2 – 3 bites of salty, spicy, acidic goodness. Some meat, some fat(lard in the tortilla please), a squeeze of lemon over top. Drink it with a tecate or some smoky drink and you are all set. There’s really nothing better, not even in California.

TACOS!!! Yesss! Ok so I have been dying to go here for the past few months as this is known as one of the best places to get tacos in Boston. After thorough review, I have decided that I am on board the Lonestar Taco train. Definitely the best tacos I have had in the Boston area, and maybe ever??? One of the highlights of the meal was the Mexican street corn. This grilled corn is quite scrumptious. The corn is smothered in cheesy goodness and is something I could eat over and over again. Another highlight goes to the Baja fish taco. Usually I shy away from fish tacos because usually when you get them at restaurants they are over cooked and dry. Not the case at Lonestar these fish tacos are the best fish tacos I have ever had. The fish is fried, so you get a crunch from the fish with the rich smooth flavor of the fish inside. Then you have some cabbage for a little bite and crunch and then their special sauce all on a little taco that you can eat in probably 2 bites. Do not share this taco! Make sure you get your own. I made the mistake of having to share this. Needless to say, I ordered another. some other solid tacos were the carnitas and the Chicken Tostada. You could just get 1 of everything and you will be happy! Prices here are a little on the high side, but based on my positive review, I would say its worth it.

Very happy Lone Star made its way to Cambridge. Can’t really go wrong with anything on the menu. If you are getting tacos Carnitas is definitely the best one in my opinion: Confit pork with some crispy skin mixed in. Barbacoa is great but maybe a little on the salty side for some people. Great beer list and play list.

The only place in the city that can actually create excellent Mexican! The bloody Maria with house infused spicy tequila was amazing, mimosas were on point, fernet buck with fernet, house made ginger beer, and bitters(hands down my new favorite beverage that I’ll be craving until I return) jalapeño corn pancakes may be the best pancake I’ve ever eaten in my life with the perfect spicy/sweet balance with the syrup added, house made chips, salsa, and Guac(all to die for with free chip refills making this a big plus), breakfast tacos with avacado, huevos rancheros tortillas with egg charred salsa and refried beans! To top things off we had the best service from Ryan! He was personable educating us with the menu and highlights, the best kept secrets, house made ginger beer, etc. I can’t wait to come back next week and become a local here! Just simply the best!

I’d been to the Allston location twice with mixed experiences. The first time, I couldn’t go on enough about how I’d finally found a taco place in Boston that reminded me of the food back home in Texas. The second time, I was disappointed by the blandness of the tacos that I selected. Last night, I tried the Cambridge location and I’m glad I did. The venue has more space and it didn’t feel cramped as it sometimes can in Allston. The menu was basically the same, but instead of ordering what I’d usually deem my staples(fish taco, avocado taco — these were the ones that I thought were bland in Allston), I stepped it up with the two daily specials: braised pork taco and BLT and egg torta. I also tried the chorizo taco, because you usually can’t go wrong with the spicy ground meat. The braised pork was delicious. It had some kind of sweet cranberry sauce on it and cotija cheese. The chorizo taco didn’t disappoint, and it was a nice change that their homemade chorizo wasn’t slathered in grease. The torta was way tastier than expected too. There were two different sauces on it, a nicely cooked yolk-y egg, and thick slices of bacon. I’m happy with this place and I’d definitely go again. The waitress was way nicer than the staff at the Allston location too, which also helped the experience.

Whatever special taco of the day they have here, get that. I also recommend the Mexican Happy Meal, which is a shot of tequila, a shot of sangrita(which is different juices mixed with spices), and a can of Tecate Mexican beer. I think if I end up on death row, my last meal request will be tacos from Lone Star.

Oh Taco, My Taco. The original Lone Star in Allston is no longer lone in this city, now that they’ve opened another in Cambridge. And I gotta say, it’s all just as good. Friendly staff, westerns on the TV, delicious food and drinks, same atmosphere. Check, check, checkeroo. My tippy top recommendation would be the breakfast taco, seriously, if they served these all day I wouldn’t even bother with any of their other options, they’re that good. Also the orange sauce on the table is the way. to. go. I suffocate my tacos with it and then go to town with both hands like a slavering taco lunatic. Their guac is also phenomenal, as is anything that has their avocado crema because I’m quite sure someone traded their soul to El Diablo for the recipe to that stuff. Their other tacos are perhaps better than average, but the breakfast tacos stand so far ahead of the rest that I can’t really say much about the others. I have a one-track mind when it comes to Lone Star. Get in, get the breakfast tacos and guac, and go home to lay on my couch and enjoy a lazy Sunday. Doesn’t that sound nice? Do it.

I am really digging the gourmet Mexican food trend we see happening around Boston! And Lone Star has been one of the big game changers in the market. The tacos here are addictive, innovative, and fresh. If you like the Allston location, this one is almost identical(just more a little more space and a slightly different menu). — Fish taco — I loved this. You can taste the freshness of the fish and the frying gives it a perfect skin. — Avocado taco — I would have liked even more avocado-ness to it but the flavors were great. — Pork carnitas taco — Savory, sweet, spicy, and very meaty. Not super memorable to me, but it hit the spot. — Cocktails — amazing, and the bartenders are not afraid to experiment if you have a request. Probably the best part of my meal! Overall, this is a great addition to East Cambridge. It is a bit cramped, but the food makes up for it. Happy to see this place here!

Delicious tacos, especially the tofu and avocado one I ordered, it pretty much melted in my mouth. The chicken tostada was huge and scrumptious, the chili con carne was something I wouldn’t normally eat but loved it! Also, a great selection of tequilas. What also really stood out was the incredible friendly staff. Our waiter and the guy who seated us couldn’t have been nicer and more welcoming and in a super genuine way. Loved this place, 2 thumbs up!

Cute place, great food! Went on a busy Friday night and was able to get seated at the bar immediately(party of 2). They have extensive drink menu with lots of different margaritas. I tried the original Lone Star margarita($ 10) and then the jalepeno margarita($ 11). Both were delicious– a bit pricey but worth it. For dinner had the avocado & grilled tofu taco which was good but a bit bland. Their house hot sauce fixed that problem. Also had the chicken tostada which was amazing! perfect blend of marinated chicken and beans with cheese and onions on top. Definitely recommend the chicken tostada! Food was reasonably priced will def be back!

Tight quarters, yes. Incredible barbacoa tacos, gorgeous staffers and mug-aritas? Also, yes. Moreso, yes plus. The bar’s the place in Lizzy’s old shell, as the two window tables will likely be packed with afterwork chums looking to snack and sip. That said, the door man/host with the most will be overly accommodating if, say, most of your party is 30 minutes behind you. Posted up for a frosty Professor Fritz Briem 1809 and a sampling of stuff under $ 5. Fresh fried chips and roasted salsa($ 3), a special pork belly taco with roasted chive crema($ 4.25), a crispy baja fish number($ 4), and a killer barbacoa taco with pickled onions, cotija, avocado crema and metric buttload of shredded, spicy, smokey beef($ 4). I mean this in the most endearing way, it’s like snapping in to a Slim Jim. In a moment of regrettable yielding to peer pressure(ie, people around me), I got a $ 15 mug-arita. One and done. The non-descript storefront is tough to find, but you’ll be glad you did. Tacos.

Disclaimer: this was a post-workout meal, so I was STARVING, which may bias the review. That being said, this was the best god damn Mexican food I have ever had in Boston/Cambridge. When we arrived at 8:00 on Weds, there was a wait for tables. But we were able to grab a seat at the drink rail(bar at the back wall). A waitress came over right away. Our food started arriving at the table in, I kid you not, 3 minutes. The high point of the meal for me was the queso. OOOOHMYGOD that queso. I lost my mind as soon as I tasted it. Cheesy. A little spicy. Just mindblowingly delicious. We also ordered the street corn, my husband’s favorite. We actually felt like it was a little bit too rich. I wouldn’t have guessed it was possible to have TOO much aioli-ish stuff(isn’t that the whole purpose of eating the corn?), but alas, it was too much of a good thing. I think I might pass on that in the future. Then, back to the great parts. The tacos. YES the tacos. I had the avocado and queso, which was awesome. But my favorite taco of the night was the barbacoa. Tender, flavorful, no bits of weird gristle, just a perfect steak taco. My husband really liked his pork taco, too, but I didn’t really give him a chance to explain the highlights because I was too busy repeating«HOWISTHISSOGOOD?!» I had a paloma cocktail. It was perfect. I’d order that again. The biggest downside was the noise level. The music was so loud that it chased us out. I think my ears are still ringing today. Pro tip– be sure to bring your ID! You need it to get into the restaurant. Overall, I give it 5 out of 5 tacos. Would eat again yes yes.

The tacos are great. The breakfast taco with chorizo is quite filling, so I recommend finishing it before deciding on your second. You cannot go wrong with the pork carnitas, spicy barbacoa, or Dallas spicy beef. My only complaints are the loud music, which literally makes it impossible to hear from their person across the table, and the lack of decent marketing. This location has been open three weeks just down the street from my home. I only heard of it from a neighbor in passing. There is no signage outside, aside from a lone star. There are no menus posted. There is no info on their website. Even the address here on Unilocal is wrong(it should be Cambridge Street, not Lambert). It would be a shame if this place went out of business because no one knew it existed.

It’s Taco Tuesday! Whatcha gonna do? Mosey on over to Lone Star And order a few. The space is tight, There might be a wait, So I suggest just one friend Or a date. The tacos are tender, Barbacoa, carnitas. The service is speedy. They know how to treat ya. With an order of guac You can never go wrong. The orange sauce on the table Will have you singing a spicy song. Wash it down with a marg, Or a mug if you dare. The El Diablo isn’t very spicy, But still nice with the fare. The price can be steep If you’re ordering a bunch, But I’ve heard the breakfast is bomb, So I’ll see you at brunch.
