Visited last week for dinner. Really quiet – one gets the sense that this place is mainly takeout and delivery. Very good sushi. My only issue is that it is a little overpriced for the quality and presentation. And sushi is all about the presentation, no?

Tried ordering delivery via grubhub which included some tempura dishes. The driver got lost and was over 40 minutes late. I specifically ask the driver up arrival if the food was still hot and he blatantly lied to me(this was despite me calling the restaurant to ask for the order to be remade since it had not shown up for an hour). The tempura orders came in cold and soggy. The sushi wasn’t that noteworthy either.

Welp. It’s happened folks, I’ve had to walk out on a restaurant now. I’ll keep it simple: Friday night, we’re seated immediately but the place is definitely full. A little extra long sitting to be waited on and order, but okay. The avocado salad we ordered arrives in a bit as a plate of iceberg lettuce with half a sliced avocado on top. Not like any we’ve ever seen round these here parts when billed as such, and super overpriced, but okay whatever. Cut to over half an hour post seating, we ask about our order. «It’s next, it’s coming» we’re told. Cool, busy night, whatever. We’ve both been servers, it happens, k whatevs thx, we’re just hungry for some soosh. Okay now we’re at ten minutes beyond that(45 total now.) Couple at another table across from us who was seated after us gets their sushi. Umm weird, where’s ours then? Give it another ten minutes(in case ours is coming from the other sushi chef maybe?) Now we’re at near an hour after we arrived and all we’ve seen is some iceberg lettuce. We ask where our food is, they placate us again«you’re next» and we saw, right but no you said that ages ago and we’ve seen another table get their food that came in well after us. Can you check if we’re like, literally, actually, next?) Maybe they lost the ticket, something went wrong, life happens.) Oh no, no. Our server returns to show us the ticket of the table we referenced and that they«only came in x minutes ago» and we were here after. Not an apology about what happened. A *reprimand* that we’re liars and wrong. I get to use the word flabbergasted here because we. are. flabbergasted… What just happened here??? I’m sorry, have I suffered some out-of-body experience where my eyeballs arrived before the rest of me?!? Unreal. Not one single apology or «sorry» the entire time, and not even our sodas were offered to be comped. We paid for soda and iceberg lettuce and left. Honestly the worst dining experience I’ve ever had in Boston/Cambrdge, and I truly couldn’t comprehend how insanely terrible the server response was(and multiple people spoke with us, this isn’t a singular person.) I’ll never support them via dine in, obviously, but I’m also never going to suggest them as delivery either, as clearly they only care about that money. TL: DR we spent 70 minutes at this place and left having been served soda and some lettuce. I wish I could give negative stars.

Hana sushi is a gem in the Davis square area. I had the Golden Bridge roll which was cucumber and crab stuck with baked scallop on top. The scallop was excellent and its texture contacted nicely with the crunch of the cucumber. Unlike most sushi places the appetizers are the stars here. The Volcano Salad is a heaping mound of fish, avocado, all covered by tempura flakes to resemble a volcano. One of my favorite dishes is the Crispy Rice Cakes covered by Salmon. The salmon and the spicy sauce flavors come together well. Texturally the crunch of the rice cakes contrasts nicely with the salmon. The service is polite but slow on the busier nights, which I don’t mind since it prevents one from devouring the delicious food all at once.

**DELIVERYORDER**(I ordered this through ; maybe the food is better when eating in the restaurant) Never ordering from this place again. It arrived in the timeframe it was supposed to and the miso soup wasn’t bad, but everything else … I requested 2 orders of salmon sashimi(6 slices total) and only 2 of them were good, they were all super thin, and the other 4 were chewy and I honestly didn’t eat some, I just ended up throwing it away. The shrimp tempura roll was soggy and gross. I don’t know what was smeared on the bottom, but some of the rice was orange with something and the whole thing was super soggy and just did NOT taste ATALL fresh.

I’ve lived in Cambridge for several years now and always driven by this place. First time here tonight. It was excellent. Generous pieces of fish for sushi. One thing they serve which is a rarity in this area is Hamachi Kama or the collarbone of the fish. Broiled to perfection it was juicy, flavorful, and crispy [skin side]; I inhaled it. I think it was priced just right for what I ate. Hamachi, HIrame, and a Cherry Blossom roll. Will be a regular stop for me. :)

Really good food! Perfect balance of flavor and doesn’t feel too oily or gross. I really like the vegetable gyoza, teriyaki chicken, and their sweet potato maki

We ordered delivery and were sorely disappointed. I ordered chicken yakitori and dumplings. The dumplings were soggy and the chicken yakitori was dry and bland — I couldn’t finish it. My husband declared that the sushi tasted like airport sushi. I’m sure we could find better places that deliver sushi.

Certainly this sushi place is among the better ones in Cambridge. Decent sushi, but a bit expensive compared to what you get, hence four stars.

Best sushi at the best price. As for the spicy tuna that is not on the menu.

A so-so lunch sushi 12 pieces. I expected rice more sticky and soft as well as more seasoned with vinegar. The seaweed is a little bit soft. But the service is pretty good. The waitress noticed there is some one smoking outside and closed the door right away. Still, It’s a good deal to get a sushi 12 pieces with $ 10!

My boyfriend and I were introduced to Hana Sushi by a friend, and we absolutely love it. Not just because of the sushi either… this is one of those places that looks like a hole in the wall, but then you realize the service is IMPECCABLE and the sushi is fresh and delicious. First, their non-sushi dishes are also amazing. I’ve had the gyoza, miso soup, bulgari(I know that spelling is wrong) and yakisoba in addition to sushi and all have been amazing. The ocean crab roll, OMG. They have phenomenal tempura, which isn’t usually my thing(I’m a sashimi gal) but my boyfriend isn’t a big fish person and needs the cooked stuff. and I don’t mind changing it up once in a while. Next, the wine — $ 20 a bottle. You just can’t beat that. I like to visit every once in a while for a date night, and last night we ordered a sushi appetizer,(jana tuna I think it was called? AMAZING) gyoza, two sushi rolls, yakisoba, and a bottle of wine, and our bill was $ 67. You just can’t beat that. It’s delicious, reasonably priced, and the service is amazing. NOW, to the most amazing part, the service. Every time I have been here, I’ve received something«on the house,» a free roll, or last night an ice cream dish for both of us. The man who usually serves us must be one of the happiest people I have ever met. He is always around if you need something(for us a fork, because chopsticks are rough with noodles), always recommeding different things on the menu, and just puts you in a good mood. We always tip above 20% because how can you not to a person so genuinely friendly? Overall, go here!

Pretty good sushi here! We came for a friends birthday, and they were able to accommodate a large group of ~14 people. All the rolls I had were good, nothing blew me away though. Slightly more expensive than comparable places, but the service was excellent. We ordered some sake bombs, but they weren’t really bombs — the shot glasses didn’t fit in the cup so we had to pour it in. The owners are korean, and when they found out the birthday boy was korean they gave us dessert or alcohol(I forget which) on the house. It was a great time!

OMFG. Awesome sushi! Great service. The House Tofu is worth dying for. The tempura is astounding. The sushi is astoundingly fresh. Came here with both my mom and our German au pair. Mom wolfed down her shrimp & vegetable tempura. The au pair — who didn’t want to try tofu — loved the fried house tofu. We were given the cooked salmon appetizer because they were slow serving us(not!). Highly recommended. We are so stuffed now. If only I had a second stomach.

We trusted our fellow Unilocalers to give this restaurant a shot. Glad we made our way to North Cambridge to find this lil gem. It’s a two person team on the dining floor but definitely manageable given the small intimate space. The décor is simple yet elegant — love the wall murals and the ceiling lighting fixture. As for food — we ordered the following: Hana Tostada — it’s like an open face taco — except yummier — generous chunks of assorted fish mixed in spicy mayo and peanut sauce. Refreshing and a great kickstart to our meal. Sashimi deluxe — 12 pieces of thinly but large cut assortment of tuna, salmon, yellowtail, clam, white tuna and sea bass Ocean maki — a funked up version of the soft shell maki except with shrimp tempura, cream cheese and special sauce(peanut). Definitely, a bit more calorie overload than we’re used to but glad we tried it. A-la carte sashimi items ordered — Uni, salmon and tobiko. Uni — by far the best here. Huge servings of the tobiko. Salmon was nicely cut. Definitely, gonna trek back this way for the great service, food and atmosphere.

We had a terrific time at Hana Sushi. We’ve been there several times(at least 20), and it’s always great, but I have to give special props to our waiter tonight. We brought our 1.5 year old and he was incredibly friendly and accommodating. We ordered miso soup for ourselves, and he offered to bring our daughter her own bowl. He filled it with tofu and put some ice cubes in it so it would cool down faster. We ordered her a cucumber avocado roll, and he brought out a separate plate for her with extra avocado and egg(always asking first about allergies), accompanied by kid-friendly chopsticks. When she polished that off, he brought out another plate with more egg and crab. I’ve always been impressed with the service at Hana Sushi, but tonight’s went above and beyond. The food was great too! My favorite is just the salmon sushi, but I really like the Rainbow roll too.

I’ve been going to Hana sushi since I moved to Somerville. I’ve probably been there a few dozen times now and I figured it was time to write a review. I’ve gone to Hana for lunch in the middle of the week or on a busy Friday night for dinner, I’ve seen it all. I’ve been to a lot of sushi restaurants and this is my favorite. They’ve got great food, great service, and the price is reasonable. Example: We just went in on a busy night and they had just been slammed, we got the last available table. Our server thought it was taking too long for our order so he hooked us up with a hot sake and a large octopus and seaweed salad to split while we waited. Tip: ALWAYS order the chef’s special.
