Nasty staff Guide who didn’t guide, never helped anyone get in or out of the water, she abandoned our group which was large, as soon as we landed at camp. Told us to bring all the oars and life preservers back ourselves which was a hike, luckily we had a truck, girl there didn’t even end her personal phone call to help unload the gear Owner has a huge chip on her shoulder Worst experience I have ever had on the river Very unprofessional staff Go to Saratoga lake on the fish kill instead — so much better

Website says 26.00 we arrived today and paid 30.00 per person. River was really low 2.5 hours took 4! Lots of walking in the river because it was too shallow to float. One tube popped(bottom was falling out to begin with) and one person had to walk back the whole way. When this was mentioned the snotty girl at the counter didn’t even bother refunding anything for the inconvenience. Save your money and have a friend drop you off and pick you up on the river. For free!

River rafting and kayaking are great! The camp ground facilities are terrible. One working sink in ladies room, toilet one of ladies toilets out of order. Mens room no better. Overflowing baskets and not cleaned all weekend. Not mowed for some time.

This was the first place I went kayaking! I was nervous, but felt up to the challenge. They provide a swim vest, paddle, kayak and a ride to whatever trip you decide. I’ve done 5 trips down this river now, all thanks to this campground! They have RV sites, tent sites, and two small cabins. I have stayed here in a tent and the cabin. You get a fire pit, and water near every few sites. The cabins have AC, a mini fridge(last time we stayed) a heater, a pull out table, a few windows with curtains for privacy, a lock for the door if you leave for a bit, and one of my favorite parts BUNKBEDS! Stay in the cabin with another set of friends, and it was a good amount of space. They also had a 3rd mattress under the bed to pull out for more company. They also have bathrooms that have showers too. I have had the pleasure to meet the owners, and they love meeting and talking to people visiting and revisiting their camp. One of my all time spots to get away from the city.

I went tubing for the first time here this past weekend, and we had a great time. The Battenkill river is positively gorgeous and clean. We tried calling in advance and found out they do not accept reservations for tubes, which was frustrating but understandable. It was an absolutely gorgeous day so by the time we arrived at 10:45 they were already out of tubes which was early to run out even by their standards – but left us feeling frustrated and wishing that they had more available since we were by no means the last people there to rent tubes. Instead, they pointed us up the road to someone selling tubes out of their barn(welcome to upstate new york) and then we just used BRS for the transportation up the river on a bus($ 10 just for transport). The people running the place were super nice and welcoming about the whole thing and we had a fantastic experience. Would definitely go back!

A great little spot, and so close! All the campsites are on the river. The walk-up sites are semi-secluded depending on which one you get. They have tubing and kayak trips, but if you have your own gear you can launch from upstream and float right to your tent! Super friendly staff. Call ahead and make reservations.

We love this place. This will be our fourth summer visiting for tubing. Our first trip of 2012 was yesterday and it was as perfect as I remembered. This stretch of the Battenkill is what you’d call ‘lazy’. No rapids. No life jackets for us grown ups(it’s not often over one’s head) but we’ve seen lots of kids in life jackets having a blast. It is a relaxing day of floating and nature watching. Yesterday we saw lots of songbirds, ducks, geese, fish and the frogs were singing like crazy. You float between the mountains and everything is so green it almost doesn’t seem real. For about 20 bucks you get a raft and a ride up. There are 3 lengths of trip you can take. We always take the longest now and it usually takes about 4 hours. Pull your rafts out at the red covered bridge for a swim break and to hit the rope swing and chat with folks. The river takes you right back to the campground. It couldn’t be easier. The staff is so friendly; remembering us from year to year and yesterday bringing us bottled waters on the house when we wanted to take the long run(4.5 hours) and hadn’t brought water with us. Few tips if you’re going tubing — wear sunscreen and watershoes and bring a beverage. If you’re bringing an adult beverage, I think it’s cool as long as you are discreet. Also, I always call to see where the river level is at. If it’s too high they won’t put people out on the river and if it’s too low, it’s not as much fun because you’ll have to pick up your raft now and then and walk the dry stretch. That being said, in the 12 plus times we’ve been that’s only happened to us once and it wasn’t that bad. They also rent canoes and have camping, which we haven’t tried. Although, a coworker tubed and camped with them last year and had a ball. They have these great little cabins right by the river with Adirondack chairs and fire pits that are calling my name for this year. This place is probably my favorite thing about summers in upstate.
