Just had a perfect experience getting my hair cut by Arthur. He was very patient and kind with me while I worried over the look I was going for but couldn’t describe well, and then he just did it, beyond my expectations, kind of magically. I have very curly hair and I’ve gotten a bunch of Deva cuts – dry cuts– and now I actually don’t think EVERY curly girl needs that. He wet my hair before cutting it, then spent minimal time styling it, without all the Deva fussiness and time and that greasy wet look they send you out of the salon with. Will always come back to Arthur. Such a find!

I’ve been coming here for hair cuts for the last couple years. Recently, I had an especially great experience. The salon has fabulous customer service and made me feel valued. They get to know your hair, your hair-​related needs and routines, and help you embrace your waves.

I was getting tired of making the trip to Newbury St and leaving 2 hours later and $ 100 poorer with a fancy blowout I didn’t even want, so I tried A. Quinn and loved it! I came in for a cut with Arthur, and it was the easiest, most stress-​free haircut I’ve ever had. Arthur is funny, soft spoken, and no-​nonsense. He washed and cut my hair, then dried it the way I do, with some product and a diffuser, and I left looking like myself. The whole appointment last 45 minutes, and the cut is perfect – long layers with some shorted face-​framing pieces at the front. Thanks Arthur!

Michelle was exceptional. I have really hard to cut hair (curly in the back, straight on the sides) and she worked magic. Best haircut I’ve ever had in thirty years!

LAUREN IS THE BEST!
I walked in to A. Quinn for the first time today and vaguely described to Lauren what I wanted: chin-​length choppy bob, and she totally delivered! She took the time to thin out the ends of my hair to make sure the bob wasn’t so puffy. I took a risk because I usually go to Asian stylists that know my hair type, but Lauren gave me exactly what I wanted! I will definitely be back!

Shelli-​Rose not only fixed my impossible hair color and cut that many previous hairdressers did not even want to try, but my hair actually looks great now.

If you’re lucky, you’ll hang out with the owner, who’s a witty gentleman who takes pride in a perfect haircut. I asked him for some advice after stating how I like a slight fade to my length. He trimmed the top, started primping other details and asked about the length. I said «a little shorter.» He proceeded to buzz much shorter on the sides and said «this will look better on you.» Holy hell: I nearly lost it not knowing what to expect from that moment. Add another 25 minutes and he had given me the most stylish haircut I’ve had that also fits my look. It’s 3 weeks later and it’s grown in a great way, like he said it would, and is now my go-​to barber.
For background: I’m a nearly-​30 y/​o guy that aims for tech professional meets slightly hipster charm style at times and I refuse to go to Supercuts. Ipso facto, I try out new places like this.
This spot is perfect. Fair prices, thoughtful staff and consistent quality. I’ve worked with a few different stylists as my calendar allows and they’ve all done wonderfully. The owner is my now go-​to for his boldness and good eye.

To say that Michelle saved my hair is an understatement. I’d had my very LAST mini-​mullet cut and striped highlight when I decided to let her loose on my hair. She’s a true miracle-​worker. I went from wanting to wear a hat everyday to flaunting my now-​gorgeous red hair in the summer sunshine. What will she do next to boost my social and professional ratings? Stay tuned.

Shelli-​Rose is one of the friendliest and nicest stylists I have ever gone to! She has been cutting and styling my hair for the past few years. She does a really awesome job! I get compliments on my hair constantly which is why I have followed her from past salons to this one because she is just that amazing at what she does!
She is highly recommended!!!

I got my hair blown out many Sherri she is one of the nicest person ever. However I asked for a blow out with nice loucioius glossy curls and I got a hard crunch stringy waves. She was the first hairstylist who couldn’t get it the way I liked, because my hair was too difficult as she says, she wanted me to pay 10 extra dollars to blow out curly which wasn’t even curly, I told her to forget the curls and just curl it with the iron instead and she wanted to charge me extra on top of the other extra charge because she couldn’t get it right. Now my hair doesn’t look blown out at all. I’m not going back there, and I’ll stick to dryBar from now on whenever I visit Boston.

This is a mixed review. I’ve been to A Quinn a couple of times before and Lauren has cut and styled my hair beautifully. I have nothing but good things to say about her.
Unfortunately, I booked to have my hair styled for my wedding in early September, and about a month and a half out the salon called to cancel. Apparently, one of their stylists left unexpectedly, leaving them with only one other stylist capable of doing wedding up-do’s. I asked if some of my bridesmaids opted to have their hair styled down (blow outs with curls, pretty standard) if they could still accommodate us, and they said their stylists weren’t able to do that. I’m disappointed because I thought those kinds of techniques were pretty standard for stylists. I understand they had no control over their stylist leaving, but it seems they need some sort of internal «insurance» for these kinds of situations, so as not to leave clients in the lurch. Very disappointed.

With my curly hair I tend to be very picky on where I get my hair cut. I decided to give Quinn Hair a shot, and I was pleasantly surprised. Great cut, did exactly what I wanted. Quick and easy.

I tried several stylists here and none of them really got it right. I’m really laid back with my hair and am cool with trying new things. I even brought in pictures to help with the direction. But each time I ended up leaving disappointed. What kinda of made it worse was I feel like the hair stylists were all kinda unfriendly. Like I was an inconvenience. Lastly, they often don’t answer their phone.

Hubby had two bad haircuts here by two separate stylists. Sorry, it did not work out.

This salon is worth the price. I had my first haircut with Lauren who really understood what I was looking for and layered my hair really nicely. The haircut style also lasted for a really long time.
It’s hard to find a place that can layer thick hair effectively but this place (at least Lauren) can definitely do it!

NOTE: This is only a review of products availability. I have never gotten my hair done here.
I went here a few days ago to buy Ouidad products, since the Ouidad website said that they would be available at A Quinn. I was expecting to have a more extensive selection of products, and also more than just the 2.5 oz size creams and conditioners that exist on their wall. I actually was not able to get either one of the products that I had initially come in for because they either only carried them in sample sizes or didn’t carry them at all. I wouldn’t come here for hair products again — will probably just stock up when I’m back in New York, which is such a shame.
FYI: I would have rated this less than four stars if they only sold hair products, but because this is a salon first and a retailer second, I couldn’t do that.

4 years. It’s taken me 4 years to finally find my salon. I really encourage anyone to come here. I went there today and told Arthur (cuz I’m that type of annoying client) «I’m not really sure what I want, but maybe this, or that…». He got an idea of what I wanted, ‘listened’ to my damaged hair, and did the best job ever. I came looking like an 80s rock star and left looking like freaking Megan Fox. THANK YOU!

The most quick and efficient hair cut ever. This place specialists in curly hair and they understand my curl troubles. I had Lauren who is amazing! It’s the first time I felt like a hairstylist knew my hair and when she styled it curly she taught me some great techniques. It’s a little on the pricey side– this isn’t super cuts people. But invest in yourself it’s worth it. they have great hours from the morning until evening so no excuses go check them out.

Staff is nice and very professional, however, just need a little training with cutting curly hair.

Just an update on the previous review: the salon never actually did follow up, even though I did.
I’ve had two reparative cuts at a Boston salon as a result, and I think I’ll be dealing with this mess for a while before it gets better.
