Solide mexikanische Hausmannskost. Schmeckt ordentlich, aber nichts besonderes. Das Lokal ist nicht gerade schick, aber ok.

Disclaimer: leaving review while hangry. We came in around 7pm, the restaurant is not at all at full capacity, there’s a empty bar along with 5 open tables(2 tables for 2 and 3 tables for 4). It’s now 7:27 and we are still not seated. It bogs my mind how the waiter tells me that there are no tables available right now! There are 3 waiters manning 8 tables at the moment, with only 2 newly seated tables. We’ve spent all day on the coast with limited food, this is quite a torture. Would love to walk away to go to another restaurant, but it is Christmas so nothing is open!!! I think I’ll just faint on this big red couch in the middle of the dining room. 7:29– seated at table that was open this whole time.

Not authentic! Over priced«Americanized» Mexican food. Even the local wine list was $$$. The carnitas, which if good is an indicator that the chef knows Mexican cooking, was awful… dry, flavorless and cold! And is it me??? Beer brand lights all over the restaurant. tacky! Does La Terraza want to be a sports bar or a good food restaurant ??

Surely not the best mexican food I’ve had but quality is good. Service was good too. We sat outside on the patio and had an awsome view of the area. I would recommend this restaurant to try.

One star is an over statement. Please! Worst meal in CA ever. Or anywhere ever! Beef fajita and carne asada meat could not even chew it. Bla. Please come to TX to learn how to cook. Oh and a majority made w wine instead of tequila.

Excellent food. Very authentic! Nice wait staff. We had mole enchiladas, rice, beans, horchata. Unfortunately, no space for flan :(

There aren’t many places open in Cambria at dinner time, which is WEIRD but, it’s a small town so, what are ya gonna do right? This place was pretty empty, which set the bar low. So, I was pleased that the food was good. I had a tostada and it filled me up plenty. They had great chips and salsa too. It wasn’t like the BEST Mexican food in all the land, but for a small beach town, it’ll do just fine.

This is a good spot. Some reviews seem very critical but I had a nice meal. We came in on a Sunday and the place was pretty empty. Service was very good. Chips were excellent(hence the extra star). The food is pretty standard. It’s not going to blow your socks off but it does the trick. My only negative is that the enchiladas were a little bland. They need to work on the red sauce, maybe add some spices. Maybe I’ll try the green sauce next time.

I have been to many Mexican restaurants, from AG to Cambria and I can honestly say this is the best one I have been to. Their chips and salsa is so good you could make a meal off of just that. The food was seasoned and cooked to perfection! One of those your so full but keep eating for flavor! The horchata was refreshing and service was great! The ambience was well put together a nice enough place for a dinner date but not too fancy where they charge an arm and leg!

This was a great restaurant!!! The ambience is wonderful, very artsy and felt warm at the same time. There’s a fireplace with couches around making it feel like you’re at home. The service was excellent and the food was great! They only use healthy ingredients(no lard as we understand it). I ordered fajitas and they weren’t greasy at all. The food was very light and tasty! Also, they were flexible to trade out tofu for the steak. The food and ambience felt Asian and Mexican inspired alike. Really cool! We came here due to the reviews. It’s only been open a few months. I would highly recommend anyone trying it out! It’s a hidden gem worth the trip! They deserve the business.

My husband & I are enjoying a Babymoon and used Unilocal to find a good restaurant nearby our hotel. We were very happy with our experience. I got the tofu fajitas and hubby got chorizo tacos. Both our plates were very yummy & the service was good. I didn’t give it 5 stars only because I didn’t feel it was out-of-the-ordinary-spectacular BUT it was very good and I would recommend it to anyone looking for some good Mexican food. PS great hortacha!

This experience has to be one of the worst I’ve ever had. From the start it was just bad. We walked in to a seemingly nice restaurant sitting up on a nice terrace. There were a couple groups in front of us. It was Sunday night in the sleepy town of Cambria, not much else was open. We were told it would be a few minutes which was no problem because there was a nice looking bar off to the left of the host. We will wait in the bar, we said. We headed to the bar, took our seats and that’s when the waiting started. We waited about 10 min for someone, anyone to show up and ask if we’d like a drink. Another couple came in and sat down, and I told them it would be a while as we’ve been sitting here waiting for a drink. He decided to go get someone to help us. So, next the host came over and took our orders(their’s first of course). And then ours– we’re at a Mexican food place and I was a little agitated, so I order a margarita. As he’s making it I realize this is a beer and wine establishment. Ok, whatever, I’ll deal even though I craved something stronger. Next the couple who walked in to the restaurant after us is asked to be seated. I wanted to throw my drink. When we finally were seated we both ordered basic Mexican fare– a taco, enchilada, rice, beans combo plate. The menu was interesting but there were little descriptions. We thought this plate couldn’t be that bad. But instead of what I think are regular tacos(and I understand this varies by location) we are served street tacos. They were ok, just not what I wanted plus I hate cilantro. Our enchilada was chicken, when we actually ordered cheese and the enchilada had the green sauce instead of the red. And I just prefer red sauce. They rice and beans were gross. We were so disappointed. The service was all in disarray. We had different people coming up to us asking if we needed anything else. No servers/waiters had set tables. Additionally, they have the most awkward set up. A couple couches are set up amongst tables with no clear cut division between dining area and waiting to be seated area. We saw one hungry family sitting on the couches with an empty open table behind them. Seriously appalling. Get it together!

Beautifully decorated place. We went for lunch and were the only ones there so you would think we would have great service. The waiter was very nice however he would disappear into the kitchen and not be available. We both ordered the daily special which was a chicken taco salad and it was adequate. Not a lot of flavor, kind of bland. Advice to management. Step up your game it’s a nice place.

Most of the negative reviews for La Terraza are tourists from San Diego(or southern California). Well guess what, I’m from San Diego too. Positives — I appreciate that they put a nice restaurant at this off the wall location. Inside, it’s appropriately decorated and it’s quite inviting. Hostess was warn and welcoming. So why the low rating? The food was not very good, at least by San Diego standards(or anywhere south of Cambia for that matter). It just didn’t taste very fresh. Rice, beans, tortillas, proteins all blah. no passion. The service wasn’t exactly the best either as they tack on charges for some customizations. — Kids meals are outrageously expensive(8 bucks, and if you make a modification it can go up to 10 bucks) — Lousy location, shouldn’t the prices reflect the cheaper rent? In summation, the price doesn’t match the quality of the food. Locals have the luxury of trying the menu, picking the winners and avoiding the landmines. If you’re a tourist… probably not worth your time.

We happened upon this Mexican restaurant that sits high above Main Street in Cambria. The atmosphere was quiet, service was attentive, and the garlic shrimp meal and burrito were quite tasty. The guacamole was just what you’d want with THE best chips ever! No kidding. The salsa was really delicious as well. Reasonably priced.

First of all, I would like to congratulate the person(s) who came up with the idea to open a somewhat upscale mexican food restraunt in a place like Cambria. Such a beautiful place to stay with a plethera of below average restraunts. It was calling for a place like this. The waitress was extremely attentive and friendly; checked on us every couple of minutes. And refilled the chips and salsa before we were done with the first batch! Wife got the beef flauta combo plate and I got the wet carne asada burrito with green sauce, both were fantastic! Such a great place with a very upscale feel, without the upscale prices! This is a must try!

Sunday brunch: Brunch menu: Four entrees to choose from, comes with a glass of champagne, mimosa, juice or coffee, and a choice of home fries or hash browns too. I tried their rib eye and eggs. Rib eye was delicious and juicy. They also had their lunch menu available: He had the combo with an enchilada and taco. Both were delicious and plentiful. Prices = moderate. Upscale feel without breaking the bank. Service = friendly. Very attentive. It’s beautiful, inviting and comforting to be here. Plenty of natural light. Lots of seating, inside and out! This place looks very new. I hope it does well! Support your local businesses! Per other reviewers, it is slightly hard to find but be patient and you’ll love this hidden gem!

Beautiful dining room with big views of the southwestern sky — very nice to be there when the sun goes down. Staff is super friendly! Had the Camarones Colima and Camarones Con Chipotle — both were delicious! The Colima is a unique combination of spicy and sweet that I have never tasted before. The texture of both dishes was that of fajitas. Kinda wish they made their own tortillas though. Although the food here is very good and the setting is very pleasant, this is not your typical«Mexican» food. I can’t tell if these culinary creations are authentic to some region of Mexico or if they are the creation of a very ambitious kitchen. And even though the meal was very good, I have a hard time believing that if ever I find myself in Cambria again, that I would come here again if I am in the mood for Mexican food.

To start, the chips and salsa are addicting, so try and not fill up on them before your food comes. Secondly, the food was good. I had a chance to try an burrito, which was good. I ordered the seafood enchiladas, which for me, was a little fishy for my taste. I’d pass on this, but perhaps it was an off day for the shrimp/fish. The margaritas are from a pre-mix as La Terraza is a beer/wine only establishment. It was a little sweet, but made for a nice compliment to the meal. The interior almost resembles someone’s living room, with a sofa and chairs placed near a fireplace. It looks rather warm and inviting. There are several smaller booths and tables lined along the patio and interior. The service was friendly and helpful.

I had the chorizo super nachos. Loved them! They have outside seating with a great view. Indoor seating near a fire place. Very romantic and the service was excellent.
