My wife and I are big fans of their food and Saturday evenings with entertainer Jeanie Tatum. A+ lots of fun

Went on a Thursday Night, sat outside and the service was average. The Outside area gave you a choice of the Happy Hour or Regular Menu. At times were we left for long periods of time before our waitress came around. Our water was only refilled once. Had to ask for napkins /silverware. Overall, waitress was NOT very attentive for the upscale feel you get when you walk in. Food was okay. Not crazy about their Happy Hour menu choices. Would like to see veges that are not deep fried! Ordered the Special Drinks which were good and very strong. Would try it again for the Happy Hour.

Second time visiting The Manhattan and it was another great experience. The food, service, and ambiance are all on point and there was a small band that played as well; they were good too! I highly recommend this restaurant and will be back again.

The food was average at best. Some of it was undercooked and bland tasting not seasoned right; way too pricey for the overall lack of quality of the entrées. I may be a little bias, because I grew up on good home cooked fresh Italian food in an Italian household. The service was just okay, but the waiter seemed to forget about us for at least 25 minutes after we were finished with our dinner staring at each other and then came around with the desert menu, by then we were ready to leave. I did enjoy the live entertainment with the jazz band that was the only real positive of the dinner hour. Unfortunately I probably won’t go back or recommend Manhatten of Camarillo, even though I really had high hopes and expectations.

Great place for smaller parties, wedding rehearsal dinners, etc. The owner was very friendly, and the place has a great atmosphere. Romantic dinners, drinks, some nice piano music.

Because of all the bad reviews this restaurant had when it first opened we stayed away even though we are right down the road. We went for the first time last night and had a 5 star evening. They called to make sure we were coming and when we got there our promised booth was ready for us. No waiting! Our team was great. The drinks arrived. No pressure on ordering, but when we did everything came as expected. We even got our steak knives before our steaks. We all agreed on the 5 star review. The food and service was excellent. We will be the first to tell our friends to go to The Manhattan for a great evening.

Wow, where do I begin… Took my wife here for Valentine’s Day for the first time and I think we’ve officially begun a tradition of where to eat on V-Day from now on. The food is outstanding and goes beyond what we ever expected. You get Mastro’s Steak for minimal price, you get incredible Italian food without being in Italy! The décor in the restaurant is so cool and relaxing yet, energetic and fun! I’ve always wanted to be able to spend money on a super expensive meal at the top of a skyscraper in NY like all the millionaires do, and this place gives you that same experience without it killing your wallet. The Manhattan also understands their local customers as they have a nice, fine dining experience in the main dining room, but have a cleverly named«Madison Beer Garden» bar outside. I say outside, but it’s pretty much a porch area that is covered with heaters so you don’t freeze to death. If I remember correctly, it’s ALWAYS happy hour out there and the beer selection is greater than Brendan’s Bar and Grill(and Brendan’s has«BAR» in its name). Owners, managers, staff, cooks, everything and everyone about this place made me happy. Definitely coming here again. Just try to not let the snobby, rich, elderly Leisure Village people get to you. :) Mr. Cooper and the staff at the Manhattan, very well done!

Went to the Manhattan for lunch on a Saturday. If you had been there for the Aloha days, the layout is the same, only with the New York added flare. The hostess was very courteous and allowed me to pick any spot. The restaurant wasn’t crowded and with the enclosed beer garden in the patio, it was nice to be outside. The food quantity and quality was great in comparison to the price. I ordered the ½ panata with the soup of the day(butternut squash — delish!). My only reason for the 3 star review is because of the staff. They were very friendly, polite and helpful, although very very very very very slow. If you are in a hurry to catch a flick at the local Roxy, make sure you give yourself enough time. If the restaurant would have been packed, I’d be concerned with time management. I would good back, the food was excellent.

Came to The Manhattan for an early lunch and drink during the week. It’s one of the only places on this side of Camarillo that opens at 11 and served alcohol. We were the first ones in and had an open choice in seating. We sat inside in a nice big booth. I’m an absolute fan of the appetizer bruschetta. It’s fresh and come on a flat beard with a delicious balsamic glaze. Will probably order this at every visit. They have a nice lunch combo with soup or salad and half a sandwich. The soup of the day on the day I was there was a purée artichoke. It was extremely bland and had already cooked with a thick layer of goop by the time it was brought out. It lacked flavor and I had to add way too much salt and peer to get any flavor in it. Thankfully the Italian Panata was full of flavor, over flowing with ingredients and spot on. The flat bread seemed fresh and was a something different than your typical sand which. The service was very nice and attentive. From the hello when we walked in the door to the thank you as we left the staff made us feel comfortable and welcome. It’s nice there is the full service bar and a patio to sit at if the weather permits. I look forward to coming back here and trying it out for dinner.

Gave this place another change — even ordered the Cesar salad done table side. I mean what the heck give it a try. Have to say it was GOOD! and properly made. Dinner was good too. The owners can thank all the loyal Unilocal fans who’s reviews helped prod us to trying it again!

This place has really turned around and it is now great! They added an indoor/outdoor patio and carry a huge variety of beers(microbrews and craft). The atmosphere at this place is awesome, inside is fancy with an Italian old style feel and outside is like a German beer garden and is like two different worlds! The chef Denis is friendly and personable. He is French and classically trained and you can taste his influence in the food. There is a great variety of tastes at this place and I highly recommend. The steak and frittes is perfect and the pizza is second to none. This is also a great place to have a beer and appetizers.

I wanted to stay in town for Valentines Day and found them on-line. Certainly, whoever is maintaining their website should get some credit, they featured the Valentines day menu and it looked delicious. I made a reservation on-line, super easy! When we arrived, we were greeted by friendly hostess and seated immediately; our waters and drink orders came rather quickly. They offer, I’m told, bread baked in house and it was lovely, with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. For appetizers, I had shrimp cocktail and my wife had the Caesar salad. as far as presentation and taste; awesome! For dinner my wife had the scallops she said, they were the best she’s EVER had, well balanced flavor, perfectly cooked, great sauce as well as perfectly cooked pasta. I had the baseball steak, cooked to perfection, it came with potatoes and carrots. I’m not a carrot person and wish it came with something else, that being said. I can’t argue with a well cooked steak. Also, we had the most remarkable dessert. I DON“T buy cakes and such at a store because I like making desserts from scratch at home. I was very excited to learn that The Manhattan offered something more than just cheesecake or crème brule. «Windmill chocolate cake» is to die for ! It’s amazingly light with a delicate texture, I’m not sure if its a cake as much as its layers of cream and mouse on top of each other. Whatever it may be it was 100% delicious. I’d come here for my dessert fix any day of the week. As far as atmosphere, the space is decorated in a modern style, there are booths as well as tables. During our visit they had live music, I can’t say it was remarkable but a surprise for sure. They do encourage dancing(on a small dance floor) but at the same time the music didn’t lend itself to dancing. I was told that they have live music Tuesday through Sunday so maybe the music differs from day to day(I forgot to ask). I thought the staff was awesome, Garret was particularly helpful, friendly and efficient. Also, the staff was dressed appropriately for a restaurant that styles itself as a little more upscale. The male servers wore white shirt with a bow tie, the hostess wore dresses and heels. I’m a suit and tie kind of person and it was a nice surprise to experience this type of restaurant in Camarillo. You won’t find many restaurants in Camarillo where the restaurant staff is dressed better than some of the guests! Our time and money was well spent at «The Manhattan of Camarillo». We’ll definitely be back.

New Year’s Eve 2015. Our neighbors said lets get together for NYE. We decided on the Manhattan, which would be my first visit and I could not have been happier with the decision. It was eloquent and lovely when we walked in. From the reviews I read, I was surprised there was a more casual area outside with TV. There were two seatings available, we selected the 9:00 set for the four-course menu selection to take us to midnight. It was absolutely fabulous. The hostess acquiesced to taking our group picture at the table. First Course: The choices were Winter Salad or Salmon Carpaccio Heavy with dandelion, the bountiful salad incorporated the highlight ingredients of white asparagus, Asian pear, and crispy pancetta. The pancetta delivery was in a whole piece, appeared as a strip of bacon. Possibly could have used a bit of fennel to sweeten it up. The salmon carpaccio could have been suitable for four people! Heavy on the capers. Second Course: Black Linguine Lobster Seville or Roasted Garlic & Cheese Soft Polenta Not even a hard choice at all. Could not compete! The lobster portion amazed us. A highlight. What a delicious dish. The pasta delivered was black. Squid ink anyone? Loved it. The non-fish eater at our table said the polenta was cooked properly. The slow pace of the dinner mirrored the reason we were there, to celebrate New Year’s Eve while sitting at a table for three hours while live music performed. The waiter Tom was great and the time seemed to dissolve with great food and a lovely conversation when the music quieted was possible. Right here everything went weird. A martini glass of what looked like a lemon sorbet was put in front of all of us. When asked what it was, the waiter exclaimed that it was to clean our pallet. This was very unusual to me as I have not seen this before. Questioned again. He said it was to clean our pallet. Okay. So we dug in. It was a sorbet type presentation with a huge alcohol presence.(Limoncello with a vodka splash). Note that only three out of four of us had wine for dinner, my husband who does not drink, never has… was with us, the designated driver if you will…) obviously was not drinking by the copious amount of Diet Coke refills he had already received. Huge alert here: If someone needed to avoid alcohol(ant-Abuse). etc… This could have been live threatening. The server should have definitely noticed that one of our group wasn’t drinking… It should never have been offered to him at our table. And now we were delivered our main course. The selection is where the choice got tricky! Manhattan Steak Valentino Airline Chicken Seasonal Bass Provincale Vegetable Lasagna I read the menu incorrectly when it said eye of NY prime beef. I saw Prime Rib which is the only meat option I occasionally allow myself for a treat. The crab cake on top was more cake than crab. The vegetable accompanying were broccoli and carrots. The carrots needed a mint dressing and had the root cut off so it just left the«butt.» My husband’s order was not well done as requested, nor did the waiter check on our table to see if everything was cooked correctly. Even after we say, «He means well done, even if you have to butterfly it» when ordering. We ended up taking the majority of the entrée home. Somehow I expected the waiter to view the large uneaten portions and ask what, if anything, was an issue. In fact, our waiters changed at this point to another Tom. The dessert choice was a profiterole or trio of sorbet. Both were excellent. As for the New Year’s Eve festivities, all customers were invited to the piano to watch the TV for the ball dropping in Time Square. That was fun. They handed out champagne for a toast. But no hats or blow horns! That could have been included in the midnight celebration, which I assumed would have been included in the NYE dinner! Next year they definitely need to provide party hats and blow horns for midnight. I have never been anywhere that didn’t. Four people = $ 474. gratuity of $ 65 already on the bill. Nice mature crowd. Only the booths were full. None of the tables on the main floor. Would we go again? Yes.

Good food and great service. Their happy hour menu is the best. I love the little pepperoni pizza. So if you are going to spend some coin, you should always go were they treat you right. And they always remember my drink.

Trevor is hands down the best bartender I have ever had serve me. He made me a pomegranate margarita — highly recommend! My only suggestion would be to ask for a sugar rim instead of salt one. Their bread is delicious and I could have eaten that for my entire meal. I ate the chicken Marsala for dinner and it was perfect. Compliments to the chef. The chicken was juicy and cooked to perfection. Highly recommend eating here, especially when Trevor is in the bar.

My experience here was 50⁄50. A fairly large group of us sat outside on the patio for a bday gathering on a Friday night at 7ish pm. I understand that group orders are usually more difficult but we were actually just getting small appetizers and drinks and deserts since we had all eaten before arrival. Basically — no huge orders. Orders came out very slowly and inconsistently since they said the kitchen was backed up… Two people ordered calamari(which were just mediocre btw) and one order came first and then the other one came maybe 10 min later… Lobster bisque was really good! But took a long time to get to the table — but the bread dipped in the soup is pretty amazing. So points for that. Ordered the beef carpaccio(which also took forever) and the center of the plate was still frozen! It was a decent carpaccio in general but lacked the delicate nature bc it was partially frozen :(not cool.(Ha! No pun intended!) Patio area out front has TVs you can watch and is a little odd bc it’s next to the pastry case… so the light is kind of blinding when you are facing it… The desserts were really good though — I heard someone say that they’re made by someone associated w Sweet Arlenes cupcakes but don’t quote me on that! Overall — mixed feelings. Prices on the higher side. Meh. Like between a 2 and 3 stars for me.

I rarely give 5 stars because that means everything must have gone perfect. Well, this restaurant did just that. Being skeptical because the outside we walked into an elegant ambiance. Tons of people, live music(piano), and just the balance of everything was great. It is an italian joint so of course I ordered pasta. The fettuccine with peas and ham. It was delicious. My boyfriend got the gnocchi with red sauce that was amazing as well. We were greeted with our server she was very friendly. Throughout our meal they were quick with response time and always checking on our table. Not sure if they were managers but two people came by to ask us how our dinner was. That was truly great to see that they care. Everything was quick but not to where it was annoying. They let us enjoy your dinner and time together. Absolutely a lovely place. Prices are high but it’s high dining ;)

I came here for my office’s end of the year celebration and we had reserved one of the party rooms for just us on a Saturday night. It was spacious for our team and had a fancy ambiance to it. Service was good but expected to be lagged since we are a large party of 30 people. Food took forever to come out but the filet mignon delmonico was soo tender it was worth it! Probably one of the best steaks I’ve ever had in my 26 years of living lol Everyone at the table also had 2 drink tickets so our alcoholic beverages were included in our dinner. Only downfall was when one of my coworkers and I had ordered additional drinks, the waitress took our order with our drink tickets and after serving us our drinks, told us the office tab was closed and we would have a separate bill for our late drinks. I really wish we were informed first that the drinks would not be covered with the drink tickets so then we wouldn’t have ordered additional drinks. Or it could have at least been covered since we already had booked a banquet room with them so they know they’re getting a good investment with my workplace. Oh wells my coworker and I ended up paying for the drinks. I really enjoyed the steak and the chocolate lava cake for dessert but not a fan of how the service of drinks were carried out at the end.
