Just checked this place out recently for the first time. Ordered chorizo burrito and chicken fajitas. Both were fantastic and the portion was so large that not only did we eat it for lunch, but there was plenty left for dinner as well! The staff is very friendly and the restaurant was clean. The only thing I wish is that they gave more than 3 tortillas with the fajitas, 5 would be perfect. We will definitely be back, thanks for a great meal!

Friends and I stopped off for a quick bite to eat since we were in the area and very glad we did! The empanadas were slamming tasting very fresh and delicious. Overall we had the beef quesadilla, Texas special burrito and pork soft tacos with guacamole and everything was delicious and fresh fresh fresh! The ice cold Modelo’s at the bar absolutely hit the spot! Heidi made our experience very enjoyable and was more then willing to have us try the house special hot sauce that we asked for! Pleasant experience for a very fair price. We will be back for sure!

The manager and his family treat their businesses(if I’m not mistaken) and their businesses’ food as a form of art. ****My Thoughts**** Before ordering, I wanted to treat my girlfriend to something that she enjoys: Tex-Mex cuisine but at «Forgive Me, But I’m Still in Debt» affordable prices. So, I considered the usual: Chipotle and Chili’s; and I thought it would be beneficial if we tried a locally owned and runned business. And Golden Jalapenos Café exceeded the par expectations established by the aforementioned considerations. **Customer Service** For starters, the manager(Luis) went out of his way just to aid us in finding the café(directing us in the rain), as we were having a difficult time finding the location. Then, he forgave my gaffe, as I ordered our lunch for Sunday instead of Saturday. We talked for a bit because I wanted my girlfriend to gather a sense of what I’ve learned implicitly since being in the area, which is if we want to live here we’re going to have to put our egos aside and work our asses off; as I believed(and learned) that that’s what Luis and his wife had done to make Golden Jalapenos Café happen and evolve over time(along with other local business owners). He threw in a complimentary Tres Leches Cake, as my girlfriend assented to gesture, which was the best cake I’ve had in recent memory(a year or two). His wife forgave my silence to reiterate that my girlfriend has a nut allergy(I was still just explaining my motives for coming and appreciating his motives for establishing the local business), and she was willing to remake the guacamole-topped Nachos Grande with the guacamole on the side. **The Food** The Tres Leches Cake had a sponge cake texture to it: moist, sweet, and supple. I’m no expert, but I enjoyed it. My girlfriend enjoyed the empanadas to point where I do not have a report on them. And Golden Jalapenos Café has found a perfect balance with the heartily filled burritos(chicken or beef) and the salad with the inclusion of sour cream, dressing, salsa fresca, Mexican red rice, black beans, and jack and cheddar cheese. I’m a huge fan of corn, so I’ll probably ask for some next time in the burrito or on the side. ****Conclusion**** This place is definitely a «gem,» as another reviewer said. You can pay Chipotle prices for a product one considers to be their art, and you can really taste it. The food is not just made as a means to an end, but as an end itself.

I use to love this place, but lately the food isn’t as good as once was. Tacos are barely filled with anything, and I get very bad indigestion whenever I ate there. Señor Taco it is!!!

Great service, food was fresh, great price. The owners actually are very personable. The empanadas were delicious, my son tried the nacho’s and they were great also. The deserts were great too.

I had the fish taco which was to die for. The fish was actually fried rather than grilled but that made it even more delish! Their homemade salsa was so good too! Every time I’m in the area… I’ll make sure to stop in! I love fish tacos & this was the best I’ve ever had!

This place is a GEM for fresh and delicious Mexican food, they have daily specials and a steam table with chicken and ribs and authentic Mexican fare. Their guacamole and chips are so good. My boss who is super picky is always happy with Golden Jalapeños too, and that says alot! There is also an outside area for cold Margaritas and ice cold Modelos. This is a must check check out place!

I wanted to like this place. I love to suppose small family owned places but this food just wasn’t good. We went for lunch. I got the rotisserie platter and I the chicken was not fresh off the spit. It was a reheated piece of rubber. My partner got the enchilada special and that was eatable but very spicy. Guacamole and chips were ok. The service and people are very friendly.

Golden Jalapeños is amazing! Skip those random chains like chipotle, Taco Bell, Cozy Mel, etc. and come here! The folks who work here are super friendly and really take pride in the food that they are making for you. All the food is super fresh and made to order. The burritos are massive and I really mean massive. Every time I get one, I try to finish it, but it defeats me(But leftovers are always a good thing). My favorites are the ground beef/chicken burritos. They always have a soup of the day, get it, you won’t be disappointed. I had the squash soup once, and boy was it delicious. They have tons of variety so you can try something new each time. Also, save some room for dessert, the tres leches cake is yum and so are the fried plantains. So stop on by if you would like to enjoy some tasty Tex Mex and while you’re there can you grab me a burrito please? Thanks

Came here for lunch break and I was very impressed! Delicious, fresh food, big portion sizes and a very friendly staff. I got the seasoned ground beef burrito and it was delicious. The tortilla was perfectly soft and hot and the meat and rice was delicious and high quality. One of the workers gave us a free sample of homemade New England clam chowder which was a nice gesture and delicious as well. Will definitely be coming back for lunch in the future.

Thank you! The owners used to run the golden jalapeños restaurant inside«Taste of Country» on Sound Ave. I’m so excited, now they are even closer to me than before. Taco and enchilada heaven within a few miles of home. Looks like a deli when you go in, but don’t be fooled. It’s actually an authentic Mexican take out(or sit down) restaurant. Don’t get the tacos«golden jalapeño» style(flour tortilla, iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, cheese), highly urge you to get tacos«Mexican style» with CORN tortilla, onion, radishes, cilantro, salsa ranchero. Can’t go wrong with enchiladas any style. Go!

This place is amazing! I’m definitely a loyal customer. The owners are extreme friendly, and always greet you with a smile and conversation. The food is fresh and prepared to order. They use local ingredients which I love. Honestly one of my top 3 choices for tex mex on the east end… if not the first.

Food is amazing! Empanadas are a must. Enchiladas in a spicy mole sauce, I can’t even describe how good it is. Generous portions and reasonably priced.

Golden Jalapenos Café has the best Tex-Mex on Long Island. Authentic, delicious, and low-cost — this Café is a bright spot on the East end of LI. My mother loves Tex-Mex. My mother also has Celiac disease. The two generally don’t mix well, especially if you’re looking for something authentic. There are always options at larger chains, but finding a local entrepreneur who is willing to cater to gluten-allergies is a struggle, to say the least. Golden Jalapenos Café is VERY accommodating for allergy-needs. We asked about gluten-free options, and the owner showed us the separate pans and equipment he uses for those with dietary needs. The café is extremely clean as well, the floors and countertop are immaculate — this is always a good sign when dealing with allergy concerns. Add a friendly staff and there isn’t much competition in terms of service. Amazing food and top-of-the-line service. Golden Jalpaneos Café will be a must every time I visit the island.

WOW just WOW what the heck is this amazing place doing so far east or maybe west if your really far east. but for me its far east We came based on Unilocal reviews gotta to trust our fellow Unilocalers we were out east(Calverton) a place I rarely come to we were hungry we didn’t want a boring bagel here we come Golden Jalapenos First the gentleman working asked me how I was… then he said how can I help you I was perusing the menu trying to decide… I was ordering for myself and my daughter chicken burrito for her rice cheese bean burrito for me then I spot it cold soups clearly the gentleman taking my order is proud of his soups I am offered asparagus soup and gumbo oh boy this asparagus is amazing good creamy and cold cold soups are so hard to find… and here it is in this little restaurant do you my Unilocaling friends realize how hard it is to find cold soups fresh and homemade. I am told they will have others depending on the day watermelon coming soon… my mouth was watering of course I also had to order their cornbread that is a treat in itself fresh and good with a touch of sweetness this is beautiful food created by people that clearly care my burrito was huge it was so tasty stuffed with yellow rice and black beans came with a generous side salad they also have juices ice cold on tap so so good and refreshing about 8 tables with plenty of room to sit and enjoy a case filled with all sorts of sodas including jarritos I would much prefer their fresh juices very fair prices $ 32 for all this food why oh why are you so far away I would be here every single day for soups and juice I don’t play around with my five stars this place is worth the drive
