Tried the raspberry and white chocolate scone. What a taste experience. They don’t have a lot of things. Very tiny, but if the rest is like this, you have to try it. Not too buttery. Just the right balance of ingredients so that you taste a well done baked item and not pretty processed bread. First class! This was not flaky but actually like a true scone. Next time I will buy the clotted crème to go with. But I have been let down before and didn’t want to take the risk. Excellent!

I ordered macaroons from here for my sister’s bridal shower. They were very professional and made ordering in advance over the phone a breeze. Their pricea are very reasonable. Everyone loved the macaroons and I can’t wait to order them again for future events.

I saw this bakery while eating at some of the local restaurants. Today, I finally stopped in. The place is tiny, but all the baked goods look great. I bought a couple of macaroons to take home. I got a Nutella one for myself and red velvet for my wife. They were excellent!
Prices seem a bit high for the macaroons, but the quality and taste is amazing! Stop in, you won’t be disappointed!

First found out about this bakery at the NJ Wine and Food Festival last year. The owner worked with a wine consultant to create wine and macaron pairings that were creative and fun to taste. These macarons don’t disappoint and are definitely the best in NJ. My favorite is the black currant. If you love macarons, you have to go here. If you don’t love macarons, still go for the S’Mores tarts! They are delicious as well.

We weren’t planning on coming to this neighborhood but we ventured to another dog park and wanted to find a little dessert shop before heading home. I found this place on Unilocal and it took me a bit of time to figure out it was a punny title haha, but was like why not try this place out? They had a nice website and pretty good reviews and I’m a sucker for macarons!
This little shop is so tiny but like a neighborhood gem. Comparing the prices to NYC, it’s somewhat comparable, and I like that it is not a chain store and that the kitchen literally seemed to be behind the front of the shop. The whole street seemed to be lined with small, family businesses so I was glad to come across this one.
They had a variety of macaron flavors and I’m sad I can’t recall all the flavors I got, but after eating all of them, they were some darn good macarons! They’re smaller than the ones in chain stores but the quality is great and they use ingredients true to each flavor – you could taste the coconut pieces in the coconut one!
If you’re ever in the area I think this is a great place to stop by to grab a sweet snack!

This place has amazing macaroons… I’ve only tried other stuff like croissants and cookies when they were in Little Falls but I’m sure they kept the same great stuff. Macaroon flavors a are sooo interesting, like rose, black currant, and pb&j. just wish they weren’t so pricey. Overall great place! I would def go back for Valentines or to impress someone with fancy sweets!

If I could give 10 stars I would. This was my first time coming here and let me tell you, if you love macaroons, then you will this place! So when I walked in, it’s kinda small but right front and center, there was a rainbow array of macaroons. All different flavors and colors, they have some called Rose and another called Lavender! Floral flavored macaroons? I had to try them! The bakery is very clean, very well lit, smells delicious and is very easy to get to. Right up Bloomfield Ave. And the baker was such a joy to talk to because she was just soooo pleasant. By the way, even with the construction going on on Bloomfield Ave, there was still plenty of metered street parking. The long and short of it is I loved the place, I loved the macaroons, I loved the service and I would definitely recommend going to anyone who has a hankering for something baked and delicious!!!

Awesome homemade Macarons. You know it’s excellent when you don’t think about Ladurée in the city for Macarons anymore.

Lovely selection of Macaroons, amazing flavors and super fresh.
I really liked the Lavender and Rose.
They have a bunch of choices for all sorts of tastes.

The macs are some of the best I’ve ever had! I love the salted caramel, blood orange, s’mores… Okay all of them!
They started out a little lower in price and have gone up about .65 per macaron– there about 2.25 now, which I understand it requires expertise and expensive ingredients.
I haven’t tried many of their other pastries which is why I give it 4 stars, along with the fact that once or twice I’ve gotten a Mac that needed to be on its way out

I tried 6 flavors of the macarons and sorry to say I am still not a fan of this type of confection. It is way too sweet. But the flavor selection is amazing if that is your thing.
Tried other things: Brownies had a fudge consistency. Choc. chip cookies good. Scones good. Linzer tarts a little dry. The almond croissant was excellent… absolutely delicious.

I stopped by here the other day after reading all of the rave reviews. I live very close to this «bakery,» so I was excited to try quality macaroons and sweets without having to venture off too far (usually Bergen county).
First off, when I came in, I was completely surprised. I guess I was expecting a bakery in the traditional sense with cakes, brownies, cupcakes, croissants, etc., but the only items on display were the macaroons which were behind a small, glass display case, and some chocolate chip cookies on the counter. To be fair, I came in 15 minutes before they closed, so it could very likely that they had sold most of their goods for the day. However, given the size of the establishment and the display case, it’s doubtful that they carry many more items aside from what I saw.
I took one of each flavor from the macaroons, and then three of the chocolate chip cookies since that was all there was. I asked the owner about some of the flavors, but received quick and half-​hearted responses; I guess she wanted to close up and go home.
As far as the reason for my two star review, the cookies and macaroons tasted like they came from your generic mall stand. Seriously, Willowbrook mall is 15 min away and has a macaroon stand that has more flavor. The cookies were so dry, even dipping them in milk didn’t help (yes, I still do that…). I expected so much more from a bakery. I will try visiting again on a morning weekday and see if the ones I originally tasted were just a fluke, but I will purchase with caution next time, and definitely avoid spending as much as I originally did.

The salted caramel is my favorite, hands down! They are consistently the best macarons around.

I have tried french macarons in France, many La durée locations, many macarons places in NYC, and I can say, without any doubt, these are the best Macarons I ever tried so far!
To be specific, although La durée has a slight advantage when it comes to the chewiness, Asalt wins when it comes to texture, flavor and smell. It melts nicely, the flavor is very rich and feels as if you are having the actual fruit and the smell is very tempting.
I didn’t try anything besides the macarons at this place, but I can say they are the best!

Lovely little bakery in Caldwell location. The French macarons are light and airy and tres delicious. A half dozen will cost about $ 13. We tried the pistachio, coconut, choc. raspberry, almond, birthday cake and s’mores flavors. Our favs were the s’mores and the almond filled with marzipan. My younger daughter liked the birthday cake one. They also have cupcakes, cannolis and pastries which we’ll try on our next visit.

I came here because I’ve been craving some s’mores flavored snacks for a long time.
And I was told that Asalt & Buttery had these s’mores tarts.
So my boyfriend and I came, and were overwhelmed by how good everything looked in this tiny tiny shop. We came for a tart and left with a box filled with great treats.
We got a bunch of different macaroons, and they were pretty great. I’m not the biggest macaroon fan, but I’d buy these ones again. (And they had a s’mores macaroon, and it was delicious!)
The s’mores tart wasn’t for me. The chocolate was too rich and heavy and completely drowned out everything else. It was a decent tart, but not a decent s’mores tart.
But they literally have the best chocolate chip cookies I have ever had in my entire life. Seriously. They have the just the perfect level of crunchiness and softness. The week after I came here the first time, I came back to buy a pound of them. That good.
And the service here is spectacular. It truly is. I’ve never felt so welcomed in a tiny store in a long time. So that’s great!
And again, just because I didn’t like the s’mores tart doesn’t mean you won’t. The thing about Asalt & Buttery is that it all is made of great and high quality ingredients. Nothing is here is bad, it just might not be what you want.
And that’s okay. Because I just want a pound of chocolate chip cookies.

I am kinda picky about desserts, I don’t care for anything too sweet and that is usually the reason I’m not a huge fan of macarons.
I loved this cute little shop, it’s quaint and adorable and it’s not overly adorned with all the bells and whistles that can often be a façade masking a bad bakery. I got the s’mores and coconut flavors, plus a chocolate chip cookie. The s’mores flavor was amazing and just sweet enough and literally tasted like a smore. It was a little gooey and chewy and just perfect. I haven’t tried my coconut one yet as I am saving it for later. The chocolate chip cookie was nothing mind blowing but still a very good chocolate chip cookie.
I can’t wait to come back. I plan to use this place for cute gifts in the future.

Came in for some treats for a work party and left smiling with a birthday cake macaroon in my mouth. I love the packaging, quick & friendly service, but nothing beats these delicious treats.
Definitely a great place for gifts or to spoil yourself.

Happy they moved up the hill from Little Falls. Yes we have great bakery in town.
But nothing like this. Drew would love it.
First and most important… SCONES.

If you’re like me, you must love puns. I mean, how could you not? So when I heard of Asalt & Buttery, I giggled at first because it’s a hilarious name but then I was intrigued.
This place is only a 5 minute drive from Montclair State University (Redhawks, hey) and it’s the perfect place for me to getaway to when I’m under stress from assignments and I need a little pick-​me-​up. The macarons here are soooooooo good! I’ve Laduree before (look it up) and this place is so close to it in terms of the macarons. I’ve been here a few times and the staff are super friendly and extremely helpful. Definitely check them out!
Also get the Maple Bacon macaron. I know, it sounds weird but trust me on this. It tastes like French Toast. Just do it.
