Just had our 2nd visit and it wasn’t any better than the first time around. Overpriced and nasty! They load the snow up with way too much syrup, the employees are not friendly and not knowledgeable about the flavors.

The smoothies here are so foodgasmic, this place should be located next to Love Stuff in Hoover.

Ehhhh. What a let down. The most memorable part of my experience was the color changing spoon. Which was a pretty nice touch. Way overpriced and not enough syrup. Compare it to the Sno Biz place on 31, and it’s basically a swanky ball of ice with too much flare and not enough flavor. If you really want a shaved ice, go to the Sno biz. It’s been there for years for a reason.

I actually went to the location in Pelham by 119. It was ok. They put way too much flavoring and it was pretty much juice in 3 minutes. Also, the prices are way steep. There is a family owned shaved ice place less than a mile away on hwy31, and they give you a large size with 3 flavors and sweet cream for $ 1.50. I paid $ 4 for a small here.

I was in Destin recently and had a surprisingly delicious snow cone by Dewey Destin. When I realized Bahama Bucks had a similar menu, I developed a hankering to see if it was the same recipe. BB is in my neighborhood so I realized this could be trouble! I stopped by on a Saturday afternoon around 3:45 and there was a line at the drive thru and plenty of people inside. It’s the new hot spot in the Heights! I was excited to see they had dreamscicle on the menu… that’s what I had in Destin. My hubby asked for the Bahama Berry Blast. My large snow cone cost less than his smoothie! My snow cone was also too much – I probably only had a ¼ of it! To review the desserts: I was bummed when I was handed the snow cone. I was expecting it too have a whipped cream drizzled on top — but I realized, it’s not the same place! It tasted good, but not what I was hoping for. I’ll probably go back and try something different and smaller. The berry blast was better. It had a nice sweet tang to it and both the hubby and I liked it. Overall, I liked BB. I would go there over national chain dessert places in Cahaba Heights, but I have to stick by my long-beloved hometown favorite – name I will not mention
