So glad we stopped at this gem of a place! Fantastic people working there, very helpful and kind. The options were great in number and samples were plenty. Check out their jams, sauces, and dressings… and don’t forget the nuts! Please go support this local loveliness.

There is a big selection of nuts here — walnuts, cashews, almonds, and of course pecans. They also have a lot of jams, preserves, and maple syrups. Everything was produced either in Missouri or other Midwest states. The praline pecans were delicious. Lots of free samples too!

Butler Missouri is the home of Osage Pecan Company. It’s only an hour or so south of the Kansas City area and taking I-49 makes the trip easy. When you get there, they have a really cool little gift shop with lots of nice gift items as well as bags of all kinds of nuts and snacks. Pecans are featured, of course, but there are also many other varieties such as English walnuts, black walnuts, cashews, almonds, peanuts and even pistachios. Most are sold in one pound bags and we have bought them for years for baking and snacking. But the fun at the shop doesn’t stop there. There are also many varieties of snack mixes, both sweet and savory, chocolate covered nuts, raisins, blueberries and cranberries and salty snacks including sesame sticks(a sort of passion of mine). There are also several Missouri produced jellies, jams, syrups and pecan logs. At Holiday times, the shop is decorated for the season and Christmas is really magical! I counted at least six big, giant Christmas trees. There are lots of other interesting items, other than edibles, that include baskets, jewelry, handbags, scarves and stocking stuffers to interest all ages. So shopping for nuts turned into a spot to do some of my Christmas shopping also! The staff was so friendly and helpful and even helped us carry a sizable order of nuts out and load it into our car. The drive through the winter country side was worth it and now I’ve got lots of stuff to make Pecan Sandies and other Christmas favorites.

Nuts Nuts Nuts — No trip to Butler, MO is complete without a stop to the Osage Pecan Co located in an old storefront along Fort Scott St, the main drag in town. I normally come down to Butler to visit my wife’s grandmother on Sundays, unfortunately the day of rest at the OPC. When we do come down on Saturdays, stocking up on these locally packaged nuts is a must. The samples are a nice touch(see Osceola Cheese) and help to guide your purchases. Chocolate covered peanuts, trail mix, and cashew nut clusters aside, the real deal here are the locally harvested pecans. This part of MO is known for it’s rich pecan harvests and this joint provides fresh pecans(either still in shell or shucked) at a good price. I hate going to the store and buying packaged pecans for cooking or snacking. Here in Butler, you can get the real deal that may well have been on a tree the day before. It’s a local joint in a small town. Walk in, smile, and be kind to the staff. They get a lot of travelers heading north or south on I-49 and are used to weary roadies. A little bit of sugar goes a long way when patronizing a small business in a small town. Don’t miss a trip here. Good legumes and other locally crafted kitschy stuff.

It’s great there are samples of most items so you can try before you buy. However, the prices are not cheap &1 of the women was extremely rude. I’m sure they get tons of people that sample & don’t buy but courtesy should be freely given from the store associates. I bought some dark chocolate covered cashews at $ 10/bag which were yummy. Other local artists’ stuff is also available for purchase which is a nice, non-food touch to the store.
