Three stars is really accurate for this apartment building. On the plus side, it’s «cheap»(and by cheap I mean«moderately affordable for an elevator building with doorman and super.» Anyone who complains, sadly, hasn’t lived in New York too long to know what other buildings are like, and 960 Willoughby is A-okay. The doormen are all really nice. Sean is the best. He is great to have conversations with. Please, note, though: He will not let anyone in the building that he hasn’t met before. This is likely for safety. Let’s be real. Bushwick is Bushwick, and this isn’t the ~best~ side of Bushwick. As a 22-year-old short white female however, I never felt unsafe. That is to say, the biggest con of the building is that it’s located near. .. nothing. If you want something, there’s a Family Dollar nearby, and a KFC that has bulletproof glass(not even joking). The subway is close by and runs fine on weekdays but just doesn’t run on weekends. This isn’t the building’s fault, but it’s definitely why I chose not to renew my lease. Someone is always there to sign for packages and put them in a locked room. If you have a complaint that something went wrong, Victor, the super, will come by immediately. The building is VERY pet friendly which is great. My dog made tons of other dog friends, either out by the puppy patch or generally outside. If you have an aggressive dog this building may not be a good match for you because of all the other dogs who will likely walk up to him/her. There is a laundry room that is very standard. It’s quarters only, but has a quarters dispenser for cash, though that doesn’t always work. It gets packed on Sundays but that’s about it. The only thing that particularly annoyed me was when the super would shut down the elevators at 8:30 am to clean the floors. Look, thank you for cleaning the floors, I’m super glad about that, but does it really have to be at 8:30 am when half the building is leaving for work?! It’s an okay place with young people and the vibe feels a lot like a college dorm, even if everyone is a little order. I wouldn’t advise you to stay away from this building, but I also don’t think I can recommend it because I just hated Bushwick. If you like the area, you’ll probably like living here.

This place is average at best. This definitely cannot be considered luxury by any means. There are plenty of other apartments in the neighborhood that are less expensive or comparable. Pros: Newer building(built in 2012?), laundry on site, small gym, parking available, small dog patch, doorman Cons: hallways and stairways are always dirty, no garbage disposals, dishwashers or stove/bathroom vents(according to the lease, you cannot install them yourself either), extra front door keys will not be given for cleaning ladies or dog walkers, doorman only allow dog walkers/cleaning ladies in at their discretion(depends«how they feel»), half the gym equipment is usually not working properly, Maintenance keeps everything from abandoned furniture to old appliances(working or not) in the parking area — it’s beginning to look like the start of a junk yard, weeds are allowed to grow one foot tall before they are cut. Clearly, I’m not so happy here and will only stay as long as the duration of my lease. Please be observant and ask the property management and doorman a lot of questions before signing the lease. I was told that my dog walker would be allowed in the building as long as he was the same person everyday. After speaking with the doorman twice about my new dog walker, the walker wasn’t allowed into the building on his first day. He was actually shoved out the front door. The staff is so unprofessional! I assume because the doorman offered his services as a dog walker and I decided to go with a less expensive option, this lead to his inexcusable behavior. The property management company didn’t seem to care when I brought this up to them either. Please see my review for Kai management as well.

I lived at 960 Willoughby for 3 years, and I loved it. It’s a luxury building near the lively Myrtle/Broadway stop on the JMZ in Bushwick. The amenities include central air & heating, as well as gym and laundry in the building. There’s a game room with a big screen TV on the roof. The building is also new — I was the first tenant to live in my apartment. My studio was big — 500 square feet. And I only paid $ 1625/mo for it, which is reasonable. Pics attached! The super, Victor, is a really sweet guy; he lives in the building, so he’s easy to get a hold of and very responsive. I heart the security personnel that man the front desk — Eddie, Sean, Monique, David. It’s safe to have packages shipped here, as the security staff locks them in a room until you can pick them up. The property managers, KAI Management, are very responsive and reasonable.
