Value Inn

Value Inn is a 2-​star motel. I knew exactly what I was getting myself into before I booked so I’m not going to fault them because my ass was too cheap to pay for a real hotel.
Also, 2-​stars on Unilocal means, «Meh, I’ve had better,» and when it comes to 2-​star motels, this one was A-​OK. Hence my 3-​star rating.
Here’s why it wasn’t such a bad place:
1) It’s right on 209, close to Shawnee Mountain Ski Area and restaurants.
2) It was the least expensive hotel in the Shawnee Mountain Ski Area, and all I needed was a place to crash after a long day of crashing on the slopes.
3) The man at reception was really friendly.
4) Free wi-​fi
5) They had complimentary continental breakfast, but I woke up too late and missed it. :(
Here’s why you should pay a little more to stay at a real hotel:
1) Even though the room was «No-​Smoking,» it reeked of stale cigarettes.
2) You will hear all the noise from the parking lot if you stay in a 1^st floor room. This includes all of the housekeeping lady’s baby mama drama.
3) The snow plow will come at 10am which will wake you up, and you will be asked to move your car for it.
4) It’s still a 2-​star motel.

I liked this place. I had first booked at Fernwood Hotels, but I wasn’t happy with the room at Fernwood, so I canceled Fernwood and booked at this hotel instead. It was clean and safe and the owners were very nice and friendly and accomodating. And it was a much better price than Fernwood!
I originally booked for 3 nights, but then changed my plans and left after 2 nights and they were fine with that.
The only thing I would make sure is, if you’re in a room in the main building, make sure you ask for an upstairs room. They have wooden floors and we could hear the kids above us walking around all night. The next day we moved to an upstairs room and it was great.
