I have a deep love for properly done shitty Chinese take out. The fried. everything, the overwhelming portions, the MSG! But China King was absolutely The Worst, and I’ll never go back. I walked in around 11:10AM and asked for a recommendation for lunch. Sesame chicken was suggested, but as I like some heat, I figured the Tso would be more up my alley. Neither of these are dishes I would normally get(kung pao is my lunch go to), but a crunchy-fried chicken dish with broccoli sounded pretty good today. I get the food back to my office and half of the what I can only imagine was, entirely full section of day-glow sauce from the chicken side had leaked into the bag. The chopstick package he handed me only had 1 chopstick in it, so I had to use a fork. Sad, but no big. Anyway, dig the wimpy plastic fork into my first piece of chicken expecting a fight, and it was… entirely…soft. There was 0 resistance. It was reminiscent of the softened food we used to serve at the old folks home back in the day to prevent choking. This is FRIEDCHICKEN, how is it this soft?! Additionally, the neon sauce tasted like candy and had no heat or flavor to it whatsoever. I am assuming everything in the styrofoam container(whatever happened to the paper box?!) was frozen or jarred and probably sold at Aldi. When I asked for my recommendation, I also asked if the dish had vegetables in it(some places do, some don’t) and since it was confirmed that there was, I was looking forward to some fresh broccoli, so I started digging around for the veg… there were 4 pieces of tiny,(likely frozen) overcooked broccoli swimming in the orange sugar water. Ugh, I couldn’t continue, so I moved on to the fried rice, because HOWDOYOUSCREWUPFRIEDRICE?! Wait, was this made ahead and sitting under a heat lamp? It was only 11:30AM, HOWWASITALREADYTHATMUSHY? And WHYDOESN’T ITTASTELIKEANYTHINGATALL?! I feel terrible for anyone there now, eating the fried rice that has likely been sitting under a heat lamp since dawn. Ok, moving on again… how about the egg roll that came with the lunch special! That could not possibly be screwed up, right?! You drop a(probably frozen!) egg roll into the fryer for a couple of minutes, and that is all there is to it! WRONG. It was SOFT and COLDINTHEMIDDLE. It is an egg roll, I should be worried about the shell tearing open the roof of my mouth, or the molten filling burning a full layer of tongue off, NOTTHIS. Was it microwaved?! VERYLIKELY. F*CKING A! So, Dude Behind the Counter! Why on earth would you recommend an abomination like that to anyone? When a brand new customer asks«what’s good here?» shouldn’t you be pushing the items on your menu that you have pride in?! Don’t you want a repeat customer?! Don’t you want the world to know that you can use kitchen tools other than a freezer and a microwave?! So, I am going to take your word for it, Dude Behind the Counter, and assume that was the best that your restaurant has to offer. And I will not be back. And I will make sure that anyone that is asking for a Chinese take out recommendation in Burr Ridge does not eat the unpalatable shit that YOURECOMMENDED to me for lunch at King China. Good luck! You are going to need it!

Craving Chinese for lunch on a Monday & everyone was closed by work. Found this & glad I did!!! I’m picky when it comes to Asian food as everyone cooks differently & uses different brands of sauce. This was a surprise! Ordered shrimp garlic sauce from lunch menu $ 4.99 — oh so yummy! Fried rice for lunch portion was cooked fresh, not pre made & sitting in a warmer. Def be back!!!

Best Fujianese food ever! The owner is awesome. He’ll go extra miles for your food allergies. Tried crab rangoons, beef peppers n tomatoes, noodles n chicken fried rice. All very good! I’ll be back…

I don’t usually order from here but when I do it’s always the same result, nasty, cold, no taste, no good at all. I ordered the sesame chicken with beef fried rice ! It was awful! I threw it back out on the first bite. Food is reheated & old. No good at all!

Tasty food with an affordable price. The family that runs it are very kind and provide great service. Dumplings are always good. Really I’m surprised it is not way busier.

I have been a patron at China King now for ten years, and I have to admit the food and the service have always been exceptional. The staff has always been friendly and accommodating. I just stopped by last evening, and as usual, the food was awesome! My favorite two dishes are the shrimp chop suey, and the vegetable egg foo young. Both outstanding! Thank you China King!

We’ve been getting takeout from China King for more than 12 years, since it’s close and has been quite acceptable but… went back tonight for the first time in five or six months and it just wasn’t good at all. The ownership has changed– to nephews of the original owners according to the cook tonight. Got our favorites– egg foo, fried rice, and beef with pea pods. No flavor in any of them, egg foo mushy, lots more pea pods than beef, the crab Rangoon lots of nicely-fried dough with a bare half-teaspoon of the Rangoon hidden somewhere inside. It may be, they’ve cut way back on salt but even lots of soy sauce didn’t help. Our reaction is the bane of the restaurant biz– we’re not going back again, and I’m sorry about that, given our long relationship.

My Father and I were out doing some local shopping and decided to grab lunch at China King. He ordered the Chicken Lo Mein and I ordered the Chicken Chow Mein. We did the lunch special. There are two tables in the restaurant. People mostly order take out I assume. We decided to eat in. When our food was ready, the lady from across the counter had me come and get it. That’s fine, I get it. The food had been slopped down on a flimsy paper plate, but the plate held up, because there was hardly any food on the plate. The smallest portion I’ve ever seem from a Chinese restaurant. The chicken tasted like rubber and there was fat all through it. The sauce was a lumpy white sauce the clearly wasn’t done cooking. We asked the lady for something different because we couldn’t eat this and she was rude, rude, rude! Then she called the chef out and he ran his fingers through the food apparently trying to show us that his food is fine. We couldn’t understand him but he knew what we were saying. He refused to give us another dish or even our money back. We tried to tell him that we would try something else but he was to offended and let his ego get in the way of good customer service. The lady that took the money never cracked a smile the entire experience. There are many other better places in the area to get good quality Chinese food.

For being in Burr Ridge I was expecting a lot more from this restaurant. It was mediocre at best.

Why is this place in business? The worst Chinese food I have ever had, all around disgusting, I took 3 bites and threw it out. On top of it all they sold me an expired pop. Will not be returning.

Tonight’s review, Chinese takeout, China King disappointed greatly, ordered the house special Lo Mein, bland and not really special at least it wasn’t greasy, egg roll was tiny compared to those on the east coast and again bland, the wonton soup had more green onions then the lo Mein and you guessed it, bland. Finally ended with the moo shu pork, I had less cabbage on St Patricks day, no sauce and the pancakes were hard. I have had bad Chinese before but I think this could be the worst. The only good thing I can say was it was hot when it arrived and it only took 30 minutes to deliver.

tried twice, not very good at all, very bland, and pretty boring, the appetizer shrimp are actually popcorn shrimp, not Cantonese style. We found a great place at Willow Springs Rd and Joliet Rd

I love this place! When my father comes into town he always insists on having this. When he was younger he always used to get this and when he got married he started having home cooked meals! I love the sweet and sour chicken! What I love is that it is a small restaurant! Some may say that they don’t like this, but I love it! If you are in need for good Chinese, Go here!

Yum! I have ordered from this place before but was not too impressed which was disappointing because it’s right down the street from me. After reading a review that said they have a new chef and that the food was better, I decided to give it another go… so glad I did! The food has definitely improved! The food was fresher which is what they pitch now… fresh ingredients and quality meat and vegetables. It is really hard to find Chinese food that is not too greasy and or where the meat seems low quality… I have neither complaint here. We will continue to order from here!

I just found out that China King has a new owner. He is a famous chef from Fujian, China. My family & I love his cooking tonight. General Tsao’s chicken is awesome! He uses all fresh vegetables. Mapo tofu & shrimp chao mai fun are our favorite !

Have ordered take out meals twice. The sweet and sour chicken is greasy. The accompanying sauce is a red oily liquid without the requisite peppers, pineapples and peppers?! Egg rolls are small, greasy and lacking freshness. The fried rice is very skimpy on the meat and veggies. The prices are quite high for the quality and quantity of food. Many better options in the area!

Actual rating: 2.5 Stars. Pretty much your standard Chinese kitchen. Food is OK. You guessed it — the prices are high because they are in Burr Ridge. I guess it’s trendy to overpay for OK chinese food. Of note: They only accept cash. I learned that the hard way after ordering for 8 people. This place needs to do something to freshen up to attract new or repeat customers. I would start by offering some menu items that are not exactly«standard fare», then market those new menu items. The place is very small, I don’t recall seeing any seating, it is likely carry out only. I don’t think I will be back any time soon.

My family of six have been taking out from China King since it opened. The food is freshly prepared and is delicious. We love the sweet and sour chicken because the sauce is prepared on the side. The chicken are like really good chicken nuggets made with breast meat and lightly fried. Little kids would love these nuggets. I disagree with the one review. The egg rolls are crispy and not greasy. The beef or chicken chop suey are really good, too. Let’s face it. It is Chinese junk food at best. China King tells you how much time it will take. I called on a Saturday night for Chicken and Broccoli with rice. She told me ten minutes. It was ready after 10 minutes and we live pretty close. It was steaming hot. It was also very delicious for $ 5.00. If you allow the egg rolls to sit for a half hour, then probably they would be soggy. Sooooo — if you are feeling like ordering Chinese Food, and you live in the area of Burr Ridge — -or if you can hop on I-55 and get off at County Line Road South, it will be ready to pick up within 5 to15 minutes. Not bad for a last minute switch on dinner!

I’ve been here on and off since it first opened. Truly enjoyed most of the dishes from the fried rice, oriental chicken, sesame beef and crab rangoon is so yum! It’s mostly takeout with limited seating but great place to stop by for a bite to eat when you’re craving Chinese!

This was my first time eating here, and when I asked about the portions — they were way off. They said that the larges served 1 – 1.5 people. I shared them with 3 hungry grown men! The orange beef was o.k. We had to mix the sauce with the chicken on our own and the flavor was just whatever… chicken fried rice was bland… beef chop suey was average… Kung Pao chicken was good… egg rolls were terrible… I’m not too sure I would order from here again…
