Dick’s Sporting Goods

I don’t think I’m that difficult or even picky for that matter. Ok, fine. I’m a little picky. Just the same I really think there should be just a couple more VISIBLE employees in a store as large as Dicks Sporting Goods; especially when it’s as busy as it is on a early Sunday evening. No school tomorrow! So that certainly can’t be a staffing excuse.
Next soap box. I found someone shuffling the hockey sticks. Great! Polite fellow. Directed me to the far corner of the store where my sought after goods are located and where «someone should be». There actually was someone there! Another helpful and polite fellow! I was starting to get hopeful. I’d be able to get my exercise bands and get the heck out.
And that’s what I get for getting my expectations up. No useable bands for the «normal» crowd. They did have a 70lb resistant band. But who the hell uses a band with that much resistance? Inquiring as to when they’d get more, the reply was something akin to no one knows. «It could be more than a month or we could get a box full of them». What? Apparently I could order them. What? This is America! I want them now! If I wanted to order them, I’d be at home where it’s warm sitting at my computer.
So off to The Sports Authority to try my luck there.

I love coming in here to talk with the golf guys. I never would have thought that Dick’s would have such knowledgeable and helpful individuals for their golf section. I have bought a couple of clubs from them and they are always helpful in finding the right fit for your game rather than selling you what the hot club is or any of that garbage.
They also just genuinely love the game, I have caught myself in there chatting with them for half an hour about golf trips, local courses, different clubs and such. Very friendly and always helpful.

Josh from the gun counter was a charm helping me with waders. I was a bit frustrated as I had to wait a while for his help… he forgot they had called him on the headset to help me. But, he redeemed himself carrying my purchase to the counter and out the front door. I’ll definitely be back to Dicks. + my purchase here was about $ 50 less than the same item at «another» big chain sporting goods store.
