Really like the concept and the look of these chocolates. Very tasty, too. They have a kiosk in the Burlington Square Mall, but they aren’t always there and don’t update their social media(at all) to let people know when they will be there. From the looks of their site these people are artists, not business people. I respect that. But if you are going to run a business you need to post hours or at least update your hours daily on social media so people can coordinate their visit to your business while you are there! It’s just nice to do :) The Studio Cacao website says that Studio Cacao is a family affair. Husband and wife Kevin and Laura began working together in 1978, training under Master Swiss Pastry Chef Rene Nussbaum and Chocolatier Ulrich Wagner, both from Basil Switzerland. Completing the traditional three year apprenticeship, Kevin went on to deepen and broaden his training working in the French tradition. Years later Kevin and Laura started Studio Cacao in Burlington working with their son Rowan. Lovely story! But it only goes so far if we can’t buy your chocolates during regular business hours ;)

Tried to buy their stuff, which is decent, many times over the course of a couple of days at their mall kiosk, but every time I visited, there was never an employee there… ever. 5 visits over 3 days and the employee was never there. Nearby people said he/she was there recently, but never around when people were there to buy things. Actually ran into a couple of other people who were waiting around cluelessly. They should really get their act together.

Was introduced to Studio Cacao yesterday at Shelburne Vineyards wine and food fest — they are up and coming, with just a small studio space in Shelburne at the moment, but with plans to open something bigger in the near future. The two chocolatiers were extremely friendly, giving us samples of toasted almonds coated in a fine chocolate powder and the 70% Guatemalan chocolate truffles. We loved the truffles’ rich, dark, and velvety consistency and ended up purchasing some on the spot. The almonds were toasted to perfection and I will definitely be going out of my way to check out the studio space and get some of those almonds for holiday stocking stuffers!
