So this is coming a little late, but I just got my Unilocal account so I suppose better late than never. I came in one morning on my way to work about 4 months ago hoping to QUICKLY pop in and maybe find some better work shoes. The saleswoman asked if I needed help finding anything. I politely declined her offer for help and stated that I was just going to peak at the work shoes. I didn’t need any help. She continued to follow me, despite my «No thank you’s». In fact not only did she follow me, she also continued to badger me about the latest store promotions after I had made it clear that I was not interested. Flash forward 5 minutes. I’m looking in the next aisle and I had two boxes of shoes sitting next to me that was contemplating taking home. She comes up to me, picks up both boxes and puts them both back on the shelf with the lids on. That was awkward. I told her, «Um… I was looking at those.» She replied smugly«I know. I was JUST helping. « As someone who had worked in retail previously, I understand that there are certain things you are required to say and do when you work for a corporation. I also understand the importance of loss prevention. However I am a tiny person who had a tiny purse(basically a clutch)… what on earth would I steal? How would I steal? The main thing here is that she did not read the signals I was sending. She provided horrible customer service. I left empty handed. I may come back someday because the shoe selection isn’t bad… but Payless SERIOUSLY needs to reevaluate the people who represent their business.
