What a great place! We had never been to the tavern before, so we made reservations for Valentine’s Day to check it out. We were very impressed. It was freezing outside, so they had the wood stove going, which was a nice touch. The seating was a bit cozy, but not crammed. Our waitress was very helpful answering any questions we had and she took her time. We never felt rushed at all. The food was outstanding! The VDay menu came with an app, entrée, and dessert for my wife and I. Let me tell you, everything we ordered was excellent. We had crab cakes, bruschetta, filet mignon, halibut, crème brûlée, and cheesecake. Usually their might be something that was not as good out of that many options, but it was all great. Both my wife and I agreed. Very impressed from start to finish. The drink specials included an Apple Cider made from local cider(Hogan’s, no doubt) and a GreenLady Martini. :) Great addition to town!

I give it four stars and not five and these are my reasons. First, great atmosphere, love the woodwork and wood stove. Nice touch. The food, very, very, good. The service was excellent, too good to the point my wife and I were in and out in an hour! Which brings me to my reasons of giving 4 out of 5 stars. Too fast. I felt our orders were coming out to quickly, not giving us enough time to really enjoy the atmosphere and our food. We ordered drinks, appetizers, entrée’s, coffee and dessert and were finished in an hour. My only other issue was the beer selection. They were out of two beer varieties that were listed on their menu. It was 6 pm on a Wednesday and out of these two particular beers. Not a deal breaker in the grand scheme of things, but, doesn’t necessarily leave you with a great impression. We will return though, knowing it’s a new restaurant and are working out the kinks. Again, great food and friendly service.

I love the greenhouse café and tavern! We just went there the other day and we tried the Mediterranean Chicken Sandwich and the Tavern Flank Steak Sandwich and they were both so amazing!!! Perfect! The hand cut fries we delicious! We also got a side of roasted brussel sprouts which were also amazing! I would definitely recommend this place! Very cozy environment! Beautiful pond out front with birds wondering around! Locally sourced food and in the summer even grown some of their own food! Can’t wait to go back in the spring/summer!

This review is for the tavern and hopefully helps clear up some of the confusion on the prior reviews — there are several related businesses and some of the prior reviews are for the tavern and others for the café. The newest edition in the Greenhouse Tavern which has been open now for a few months. There is also the Greenhouse Café which is a seasonal lunch spot just to the left of the Tavern(there is a review mentioning the business may be closed but looking at the date that was after the seasonal café closed and before the new tavern opened). Then there is the frozen gnome ice cream which like the café is seasonal. I believe the tavern is now open all days but Monday for lunch and dinner. I am assuming it is all the same owner at what was previously a garden/landscaping business(it may still be but on a much smaller scale). The grounds are great and just a really nice idyllic small town setting. Parking can definitely be tight, especially on the weekends. Inside the place looks great — warm and inviting with a wood stove in the dining area. It is small/cozy so I would suggest reservations as it has been packed every time I have been there(4 times so far). The bar area is also very small and again, very inviting. Service is good and there is a very active manager who seems to always be around. They are clearly still working through the new place kinks but it’s coming together and the service effort is clearly there. Food is very good — been in twice for dinner and once for lunch(and once just for a quick beer). At dinner I’ve had the salmon, fish tacos, and tried the pock tacos, lobster Mac and cheese, poutine and jalapeño poppers. Just this weekend had the Cobb salad and split the tavern fries. The quality and freshness is definitely there. The first night we were in(I believe it was the second night they were open) the food was just warm and could have been hotter, but no issues since and I do attribute that to first week kinks. Nice beer election — 6 or 7 drafts and I like the fact they seem to highlight CT craft beers. There is even a craft beer night on some Thursdays which is on my list to go to. So, in summary, a very good start for the Tavern and I am really hoping they keep it up. There is literally nothing in Burlington competion wise(the 2 other tavern/pubs are awful) so this place has huge potential if they continue to invest in quality and service. So far so good.

Stopped in for dinner over the weekend. Place was very lovely and inviting. Wait staff while al, young girls did a good job. Our waitress apologized for not having gf pasta. Good beer list, although 1.50 –2.00 higher per glass than anywhere else. Asked for gluten free pasta but was told no the chef did not provide it despite repeated requests for it. They did have a few very expensive & I state once again… expensive gf choices on the menu. Ordered a burger without a roll instead. Saved ourselves 20 bucks per entrée. We also ordered calamari which was fantastic. The prices on food & drink were very high but the quality of food was worth it. If they ever offer gluten free pasta we will try it again. Stopped on here two more time with friends… their calamari is the best & the waitstaff —excellent…wonderful place,

Atmosphere is not comfortable at all, it’s just one big open room and when all the tables are filled it is very loud in there and when the door opens its freezing. There are not that many tables so unless you made reservations, chances are you are not getting a table. They really should of planned the layout better and made it more comfortable and a bit more private. I went with my husband and I couldn’t even hear him it was that loud. Food was good tho and pretty reasonable.

New and inviting tavern in Burlington CT offering great food, a versatile wine list, and locally crafted beer on draft. Open for lunch and dinner Tuesday-Sunday, with weekly specials and entertainment mid week. They do get busy so reservations are a must!

I don’t think this business is open anymore. I’ve tried to stop by several times(during their open hours of business) and no one was/is home. It’s 3pm on a Thursday and I wanted to grab a late lunch before going to an appointment. Again, the sign says closed on the door, yet their Thursday hours of operation are 11am to 8pm.(I tried both doors, and they were locked and the pgone rings about 20 times and says«Memory full. Enter remote access code.»). Someone please update this listing to save people from driving out of their way if this place has shut it’s doors permanently.

What happened?!? Every time I come back to CT I go here. I’ve told people how amazing the lobster rolls are with huge chunks of fresh lobster. This time is was awful. Chopped up pieces with no telling if it was fresh or canned with some weird seasoning on it. I’m scared to think of why it tasted odd. $ 20 for this plus another $ 3.50 for fries is ridiculous. There are other places in the area. So sad.

Very cute place that shares space with a landscaping store which accounts for the pretty outdoor seating. It has your basic east coast summer food — lobster rolls, fried clams, burgers, etc. Everything I’ve had is great, the whole belly clams and hand cut French fries are my favorites. Head next door to the frozen gnome for ice cream afterwards. A great summer spot

Great place for outdoor eating as currently no dine– in. Order at the register and they bring the food to your table. Great seafood. I had fried clams, my husband had lobster roll with fried onion rings– absolutely delicious. Nice outdoor setting. Great place to bring your dog and hang out with friends. BYOB

If you have a chicken phobia, you might be well served by passing this place by. We had lunch here today, and a marauding band of chickens stormed the lunch patio and begged for crumbs like puppy dogs. One brazen chicken leapt up on a table(not once, but twice !) and stole a French fry from a patron. I suppose if you have kids in your group, they might squeal with delight at the spectacle. But in the case of the woman at the next table who was obviously scared and climbed up on her bench on her knees so the chickens under her table wouldn’t peck her — you might not be a fan of the window squeegeeing street gang of chickens. Our lunch was OK — a grilled chicken sandwich and a salad with grilled chicken. I was thisclose to tossing a piece of chicken on the ground to see if a chicken would eat chicken, but my wife’s look of disgust when I mentioned the potential experiment made me do otherwise.

Went for breakfast a week ago, food was good, price reasonable and place has promise but need some operational improvements. Despite having a multiple coffee system, there was only one choice made, no decafe… Also didn’t seem to have milk as a drink option. Staff member was inexperienced and seating areas and tables had not been cleaned including trash bins from the night before which were attracting flies…

My friend and I had lunch here — the excellent reviews on Unilocal influencing us. We shared the shrimp and fish tacos. They were fine, but I did not think the place was excellent or amazing or any of the adjectives that other people used in their reviews of the place. I don’t like to mark down a local place — just trying to keep it real. And keep in mind, it is über casual — you eat at metal picnic tables. If you are in the area anyway, by all means, stop by for lunch — I just can not recommend making a special trip.

This is a great spot that shares space, and possibly ownership, with the Frozen Gnome. There is always a good crowd here; it’s definitely an oasis amidst the food desert that this area can be. I had the lobster roll and was pleasantly surprised. You can do it either way here, hot or cold, and I almost always go hot. It was not crazy expensive, and it was not crazy big, but it was exactly what it should have been — plenty of fresh picked lobster, no filler, warm and buttery goodness.

This place is out in the middle of nowhere and it’s always packed — that’s how good it is folks! I just love this place! The fish tacos are unbelievably good, the lobster roll, the potato salad, the fruit salad, the specialty sandwiches, hand cut fries, blah, blah, blah… I haven’t eaten everything on the menu yet, but it’s a goal of mine. Next is their fish and chips. Every time I go there, there is somehting new too. Last Saturday they had crème brûlée! They also had roasted fresh root veggies so I bought a container of those along with 2 grilled boneless, skinless chicken breasts and took them home to have for dinner. VERYGOOD! So you never know what they will have that they didn’t have the last time. Very creative cooking and absolutely delicious. I can’t get enough… you are going to LOVE it!

What a wonderful place to eat. The food was fantastic and the atmosphere of eating out by the gardens can’t be beat. The adults had a great lobster roll and crab cakes were great. The kids had had hot dogs, cheese burgers and a BLT. All the portions were generous and the prices were reasonable. We will absolutely be back!

BEST Fish Taco you will have in the East. I swear it tasted like a real California Fish taco. Fresh ingredients and none of the flavors were too over whelming. I would Suggest Eating in the early evening here, things seem calmer and not to mention cooler being that it’s an open patio dinning area. Haven’t tried much else here but I will be back to try more.
