Collector’s Corner-Double Play

My friend and I are comic book dealers. We stopped in by chance on a road trip for books. First we called an asked if they have silver/​bronze age. We got everything but a straight answer. That should have been the warning signal.
We went in the place, most of the comics had been picked thru. I saw a few boxes under toys and such so I went there figuring anyone who was lazy would not got thru them. I found some nice stuff. I went to the guy and asked about pricing. Guy told me those were not for sale and I shouldn’t be opening them. Well this is a store and the boxes are on the floor in the middle of the store. He repeated himself. I said hey how about you either put them in the back or write do not touch on them. Wow simple solution.
The store is in a half abandoned mall. You would think they would welcome any business. Hey crazy idea. How about you say grab what you want and lets look it up and Ill give you a good price. Now that would be the logical train of thought of any business man. But no not here. I got put those back!
F this place. We would have dropped a couple of hundred each if you weren’t a lazy, socially awkward, unprofessional moron. Yes I am the guy from today who showed you the silver age batmans and asked about the Iron Man #3.
I wouldn’t spend a nickel here having to deal with someone like that. i was mad my friend spent $ 8.

Love this place, my brother has been going here since he was very young for his Sonic and Spider man comics. Now that I’ve become a collector I come here whenever I home from college. This is a great place to find back issues of alot of random series. The chaos of the back issue boxes is a bit confusing if you aren’t sure what you are actually looking for. I found older Teen Titans and have gotten a few here and there. Recently, tonight actually, I went there for one reason but came away with a surprise purchase of back issues of one of my favorite past series. I was not expecting there be to be any since it’s not really one of the mainstream heroes and has been out of print for a few years now, but this was a great surprise. And its great to have the 20% off back issues too. I’m incredibly happy, and with these that I gotten tonight I’ll probably be on the hunt for more to fill the holes.
Personally I love to support a local, small business. This being the only comic book store in the area I think it’s important to go there especially. They also have a huge selection of action figures and some sports merchandise. Give it a shot if you’re happy for surprise back issue finds and up for supporting independents ;)

Also I don’t know what the situation was with the first reviewer, but the owner has always been really nice and friendly I think. Just pay more attention to what your children pay for their comics, reading material returns is touchy because it would be easy to read something once and return it and no one can keep a business open that way. Think about the state of the economy and the state of the comic book industry and you can understand the attitude of a business owner. Back issues always have a price tag on it plus usually there is a sign saying that there is a % discount, new issues are always as printed on the front unless a sticker says otherwise, books are going to be printed on the back. Honestly ask the price before buying and you won’t run into trouble like that. Sometimes the customer really isn’t right, I’m sorry but it is true. Don’t blindly buy something without knowing what you are paying and what you are paying for.
In conclusion, support small business, ask the guy questions he is nice, and enjoy comic books because they are awesome.

Place is like a warehouse. Can’t tell the prices until too late. Son bought a comic for 15 $ and I tried to return it with in 20 mins of purchasing. Owner was rude and nasty & ripped my son off 15 $. We did not even leave the mall. We got a snack, when I realized how much the comic cost, went immediately to return it & to no avail. There is no store policy posted anywhere. Don’t go in this place & spend your hard earned dollar. The man took the Lord’s Name in vain 8 times in a row. Go to Wayne’s across the bridge. This guy is a hack.
