I’ve been a long-time patron of Trapeze and felt compelled to respond to Rene B’s 1÷30÷16 review. For the record… Trapeze is a warm and inviting establishment with an excellent selection of wines & spirits and consistently delicious food. The establishment has a tremendously loyal following of local diners & businesses. Steve(the owner) is a truly remarkable man and I, along with hundreds of others, are fortunate enough to call him a friend. He’s a «give the shirt off his back» kind of guy and his kindness & integrity are beyond reproach. As for you Rene B, you are a coward and a fraud. You hide behind the anonymity of Unilocal as some pseudo-food critic, basing good people you clearly do not know. Look in the mirror, you should be ashamed of yourself.

I love Trapeze. Steve, the owner, is so welcoming and attentive even when it is super busy. Him and his staff make it worth going to. The food is delicious, and they are even accommodating with tweaks to the order. Cocktails are yummy(try the pomegranate margarita) and their Hindsight wines are amazing. Dessert is to die for. I had a chocolate prism looking dish even though I was stuffed. So worth it. It’s our favorite place for date nights for sure. Looking forward to our next time here!

I finally started to see Steve, the owner, for the person he really is. I’ve heard people speak of how shady he is for years. I’ve been a patron of Trapeze longer than he’s been there so I thought he was a hard working, stand up type of guy. Wrong!!! Long story short I will never return to Trapeze. Steve is not an honest person. He will lie to your face and not even blink. He portrays himself as this cool guy but he is really a wolf in sheep’s clothing. I’m so disgusted and disappointed with him right now for things that he has lied about and done, that I had to write this review. A few things I will say is this: make sure he is pouring the wine that you ordered and not a bottle refilled with something else and that also goes for top shelf spirits. And check your receipts before and after you leave gratuity. Nuff said. Jerk!!! Food is edible but just average and overpriced. I know that he will beg people everyday to write 5 star reviews to attempt to cover this one up, you’ll see. Sorry Steve, the cat is out of the bag and my review is here to stay. I’m pretty certain he will offer you a free glass of wine and an appetizer if you do.

This is probably our favorite restaurant in Burlingame!!! Everyone is so kind and the food is awesome!!! The Trapeze Salad Is my daughter’s favorite(and she is only 6 years old) you can never go wrong with any of the pasta or the ribeye if they have it!!! The polenta kicks butt as well!!!

My daughter and I had dinner at Trapeze Christmas Eve and I thought the service and food was wonderful. The wait staff was cheerful and attentive. The food was prepared perfectly, I would have given 5 stars but I will go again to get a better feel, it was Christmas Eve and very busy. I am a fan of Chilean Sea Bass, it was prepared splendidly. The owner was visited the table to wish us a happy holiday, a pleasant surprise these days. Any ways the reviews seem to be all over the place on this restaurant so here are my thoughts. If you enjoy Classic European cuisine and an international vibe, then you will love this warm, friendly and upscale restaurant. If you’re looking for the latest trends in food and service experience then you may be disappointed. I truly enjoyed this night out, there is no way this is a one or a two star restaurant it is four or five stars depending on your taste.

First off, any stars are for our server, who was very nice, and tried his best. Christmas eve– we do Italian every xmas eve, so expect crowds. This restaurant was ridiculous. They added extra tables so everyone was smashed together. Very limited, poorly executed menu.(Did not specify that full menu not available) Tasted like horrible banquet food. Staff was harried and put upon. Definitely not the happy dinner we were looking for. Won’t be back.

I haven’t even tried the food, so this rating has nothing to do with the food… but a restaurant is about the complete experience isn’t it?! I tried to request more information via the ‘contact us’ page and it is not working. I tried to submit my request three times. I simply wanted to request more information for a large party I was interested in bringing to the restaurant. Sometimes technology has glitches. I get that. So I called. Rude! Rude! Rude! The manager was so condescending to me: Telling me that the website has been working for 4 years. Okay! Well it’s not working today, and I’m simply/kindly telling him in case he is not aware! A simple«Thank you for letting me know and how can I help you with your party» would have been perfect. But instead, his tone and language suggested that I should know not to use the Contact Page to inquire about a group reservation and then he tells me that everything I need to know is on there. Well, its not! Anyways! I won’t be bringing a large group to you! Good Luck!

Mediocre food for the location. Asked for horseradish for my steak and the wait brought out A1 steak sauce. Wow… I haven’t seen that in ages! Tiramisu was bland Only great thing was service

We had a delicious dinner there last week, but had such poor service that I was prompted to write a review which I don’t do often. Honestly, it was one of the worst service experiences I have ever had in a restaurant. They were the opposite of attentive throughout the meal, where we constantly had to get their attention to get things like water, menus, etc., and then they basically left us waiting for 30 minutes between the end of our meal and the check. We were never offered dessert menus or any coffee, and they seemed annoyed when we finally had to ask for the check. It was not that busy of an evening, so not sure what was going on, but I will not go back anytime soon. The food was quite good, and it’s a nice ambiance, but they don’t seem to care about their service quality. It was really disappointing.

After reading the reviews on Unilocal,I had high expectations. It didn’t start well. We sat down and it took 10 minutes to be given menus. We ordered the antipasti platter and calamari. The calamari was the standout dish of the evening and seasoned well. The antipasti plate was probably the worst I’ve eaten. It lacked presentation and was just meh. We ordered gnocchi, ravioli, paella and boar Ragu penne. The gnocchi was sizzling hot. As if it had come out of the microwave. The ravioli was cold and not memorable. The paella lacked flavor and seasoning. The fish was rubbery and over cooked. I had high hopes for the boar Ragu. But this had no flavor again and lacked seasoning. We ordered a second bottle of wine which took 20 minutes to come. By that time we had finished our dinner and we were ready to get the check. All in all, the food lacked flavor. The service was terrible. And we got some dessert on the way home!

We had one of our best italian experience in this restaurant, located in Burlingame. Food was great, silverware was close to what we get in a european restaurant, and the server knew his job. Overall, we had a great lunch and I always recommend this place to my friends and coworkers, when they ask me about a «real european restaurant» :)

I am updating my review because this restuarant has vastly improved. The service was timely and very friendly. The spagetti with sausage was very good, and the wine recommendation by the waiter was perfect. I am so glad to have had a much better experience in this place!

Loved it here. It is rare that a restaurant can capture the home cooked meal experience, but they nailed it here. I had the barometer of Italian food skill — gnocci. Almost everyone else over or under cooks it, then hides it with sauce. Mine was perfectly cooked with abundant freshness, with an accent from the pesto. Yum! Wife had the Shrimp Pasta that was delicious as well(we swapped a few bites). Wife had been here before with friends, but I’ll be a regular as soon as I can. Staff was friendly — Inessa kept our drinks full and was attentive, but not intrusive. Very satisfied with Trapeze :-)

A very pleasurable dining experience. The food was above average with a few unique touches. Portion sizes are relatively large. I had the paella which was okay. It could have used a little more saffron but that’s just being picky. The kobe beef was above average. Moist and filled with above average seasonings, this was more than a hamburger. The spaghetti was well seasoned with olive oil. The waiter was quite excellent and attentive to our needs. I would recommend.

If there is one thing that I took out of my relationship with my ex, was this place! He brought me here once, and I instantly fell in love with the restaurant and their amazing gnocchi. I’m a sucker for good pasta, and(as previous reviews have mentioned), their gnocchi is simply out of this world. It’s very cheesy, and the pasta in itself is very doughy — the way a gnocchi should be. They serve it in a very good size, so if you are not feeling very hungry, you can share it with someone. I’ve been going there since 2009, and even though I have moved to the East Coast, every time I’m back in Burlingame, I make sure to stop at this place. Their servers are very friendly and knowledgeable of wine — which is also a plus. They have the best sweet wine I have ever tasted, but unfortunately I did not get the name of it. They are also very patient. I was there yesterday with some girlfriends and we were at the restaurant until 11PM, and they never rushed us, although I’m sure they wanted us and the other group to leave so they could close the place and rest. Hands down, the best service there is.

Great lunch spot for business meetings or a first date. Attentive service and tasty dishes made me happy. There is a metered public parking lot right across the street, but is often full. We ordered Fried Calamari($ 10) & Fillet Mignon Carpaccio($ 14) to start. For my main dish I had Tortellini con Anatra(stuffed with duck meat, sun dried tomato, and porcini mushrooms in cream sauce)($ 20). Dessert was a chocolate lava cake. I enjoyed our meal and experience at Trapeze especially since we were able to expense it! =)

We happened upon this sweet restaurant on a busy Sat. Eve in Burlingame. From the friendly and professional service to the savory kale salad and fresh pasta we are happily impressed. With so many choices here this has to be a top choice.

I didn’t expect much here because of the reviews on Unilocal and when I went in there were just two tables filled at 1:30pm. The interior is beautiful. Gold chandelier lights and upscale design of interior really fits the ambiance downtown Burlingame. We ordered fried calamari and the bruchetta as apps, and I got the prawn risotto which was pretty decent. My prawns that came with the risotto were a bit too soft and a bit soggy for a lack of better words, but I think the risotto was cooked perfectly. I enjoyed my meal and the ambiance really helped with my experience.
