I’ve used them two jobs over the past several years with decent results for a good price. A good price meaning that they tend to be lower than businesses that are completely licensed and by the book and higher than completely unlicensed handymen. Unfortunately with the most recent job, these guys suffer from the following problems: They tend to say a job is possible when in reality it really isn’t. They forget everything that we agreed on for the job. To make matters worse, they never put every detail on the contract. I’m not sure if this is just a bad habit or on purpose. Since this wasn’t my first job with them I didn’t really think of it.(Well now I’m paying the price.) I feel that they’re doing a lot of bad estimates for both time to completion and the price which results in a backlog for them. Also given their low price, maybe their margins are pretty bad so one bad estimate is just one step from disaster which can lead to a domino effect on their end. The end result is a half finished job and unanswered calls and emails. I don’t think that I’m the only one burned either. If you call the business, you will never get an immediate answer; it pretty much always goes straight to the answering machine. Why? So Konstantine(one of the proprietors) can screen his calls for irate past customers. Use them at your own risk.

Why I gave them 5 stars: (1) responsive, professional and on time (2) explained things to me so that I know what to expect. (3) explained things to me during the work in even more detail (4) knowledgeable (5) pretty on the dot with estimated completion of the project My project was not a full remodel or a gut out. I was running the line from a junction box to go over the dining table and hanging a 30lbs 41″ chandelier above my dining table. I appreciated the fact that they still called me back though my job would be considered small for most electricians. Thanks Igor(and Alex) ! I have requested that their name be put in my building’s recommendation list of businesses.

For our renovation project my husband found K&I Electrical through the Angie’s List. We had dealt with three other companies in recent years, and never were completely satisfied with the result, although their services were quite expensive. Attaching a couple of sconces might cost more than a thousand dollars because they charge ~ $ 90 per hour, plus materials, plus wall repairs… Konstantin replied and arrived to evaluate our project very quickly. K&I solved most of our electrical problems(including some that previous electricians couldn’t repair), although the condominium where we live was constructed decades ago, and has lots of restrictions, both technical, and regulatory. Konstantin and his team were very responsive to our needs, they had quick brainstorming discussions in order to find a better solution; they explained to us what they were doing, and what we should expect. They worked fast, smart, and neatly. And no less important, they charged us significantly less than others. According to others’ estimate we would pay for the project more than $ 7000, and we paid ~ $ 3000 to K&I in all. The only disappointment was the wireless switch in the bathroom that was installed(a replacement for killed electrical line, damaged by someone else). It was a convenient solution except that the switch is very moody: sometimes it works, sometimes it does not. But this is only dissatisfaction with the wireless switch, not with their work. There was one other amusing temporary difficulty, where turning off a desk light would also turn off our refrigerator, but they fixed this as soon as we reported it. K&I also recommended to us two other groups of contractors: flooring, Gene Spektor, who did a great job too, and a general contractor who was very helpful. We certainly recommend the K&I team.

I don’t know why the other review on here is filtered. I have nothing but good things to say about K & I(Konstantin & Igor). They did the electrical for a full gut and remodel on our home a few years back. I posted well of them on another site, but not here! Hmm. They were great at following the sketches we made for our self-designed lighting plans, pretty much to the inch. They offered great suggestions and made major contributions to the lighting in our bath. The only other thing we had to do was pick out the finish fixtures. I feel confident that everything was done to code or beyond it, energy efficient, very safe and long lasting. In fact, the only problem we have had has been with the ancient, unimproved circuits from the 1930’s! I would definitely hire K&I again. In fact, I’m trying to now to fix the old stuff!

Igor and his partner from K&I Electrical are outstanding. He responded to my call immediately, and even came on a Wednesday evening at 7pm for a non-urgent issue to accomodate our crazy schedules. Igor moved a light switch in the garage and repaired a non-functioning outlet on our deck. He was professional, respectful and friendly. Our cat loved him, which says alot. He went the extra mile to repair the wall in the area of the work, and even secured it for stability by improvising with some lumber that we had in the garage. We are hard to please, and he wowed us. Super nice guy and great work– a winning combination. We will definitely use K&I Electrical again. We learned about the company on Angie’s List, where every review for this company is A+, and that is absolutely accurate.
