Dr. Bertman is great. Unfortunately I’ve needed a bit of dental work in my life and his work seems top notch. He is thorough, he is wonderful at administering the anesthetic agent and doesn’t recommend anything more than you need. His bedside manner couldn’t be better and his appts start on time. His fee schedule seems reasonable as well. His hygienist is top notch — best cleaning I’ve ever had. I truly thought I had found the holy grail as far as dentistry is concerned and thought my search is finally over. HOWEVER and this is a big however I did end up leaving the practice because of his billing/office administrator. I find the person that takes care of his billing extremely rude. The billing person contacted me a year or so after my last treatment and very rudely and condescendingly told me I needed to take care of my bill NOW. It was in a rather threatening manner and she made me feel like one of those parents that don’t pay child support. I had to ask her to explain herself(I had insurance, I had NEVER been contacted by them — I’m the kind of person that would like to take care of the bill before leaving the office but they can’t because they need to bill my insurance company first) and we discovered that the bills were being sent to an old address and so this was indeed the first time I had ever received notification of this balance. I did let her know how offended I was by her tone and threatening manner. She didn’t apologize. When I asked her to communicate to Dr. Bertman that I wanted to speak to him directly she suddenly did a 180 got so sweet and changed her tone. He never called me. He seems like the kind of person that would phone but he didn’t so I don’t know if he received my message or if he didn’t want to speak to me. I called again to ask to speak to him and she said he wasn’t in again.

I’ve been going to Dr. Bertman for several years, and I have nothing but good things to say. Everything from cleanings, to staff to(of course) the Doc himself have been nothing but timely and professional. I grew up the neighbor of a dentist office and my mom has been working as a dental technician for almost 30 years. You can say I know a thing or two about the business, and this is where I go to get my work done! By the way, if you want to eat in a restaurant again, I suggest you DON’T read an Oral Immunology textbook!

Dr. Bertman’s administrative assistant, Donna, needs to develop her professional manners. Unfortunately, I had to reschedule my appointment as a new patient with Dr. Bertman twice. On the second attempt to reschedule, work conflicts, I was advised by Donna that they would no longer reschedule my appointment. As a new patient, I understand Dr. Bertman’s decision to not take me on as a patient.(Twice I scheduled; one time I rescheduled and the second time I realized that again I would not be able to make it I contacted the office in an attempted again to reschedule, but was told that was no longer a possibility. Understandable.) However, Donna’s rude delivery and tone was unnecessary and unprofessional! As she managed to answer the phone in a pleasant manner, she should have been able to state in a pleasant manner that they would no longer be able to take me on as a client instead of using the tone that she did. Patients do not go out of their way to be difficult… Sheeze!
