Burke Used Books

Burke Used Books is a little, family-​owned store hidden off the main road. It’s not easy to just happen upon this place, one has to actively seek it out. And I think it’s worth it.
The store is small and clean and neat. It’s not one of those used book stores with miscellaneous books in piles all around. Everything is where it ought to be. The genres are clearly marked, which makes browsing easy. The clerks leave you alone to look. I often spend a few uninterrupted hours wandering the aisles and paging through books.
The collections are good. I love classics and they have a nice range of those books. The non-​fiction is limited and so it the poetry section. There are lots of reference books and a LOT of history-​type books. The children’s section is fairly extensive, too. Additionally, there is a good range of older, collectible-​type books and books published more recently. All the books seem to be in really good shape for used books.
The pricing is a bit more than one would expect for used books, but the quality of the merchandise and the orderliness of the store more than make up for that. If you’re in the area, I highly recommend visiting Burke Used Books.
