You know the smell of a rotten belly button, the one that smells sour and in need of a good cleaning? That’s what the lid of my drink smelt like after the guy(assuming he’s the owner) who made my drink pressed it firmly onto my cup. This place is disgusting! I took a risk by going into this place a second time within 2 years & after seeing no improvements with the cleanliness and this place not being up to health code standards I wasn’t surprised that my drink lid smelt like the guy hadn’t washed his hands in days. I tossed my drink a into the trash as I walked down the street. Vowed to myself, never again would I go there, for the next time I’ll witness the bugs that follow such unsanitary habits. The health department needs to shut this place down! FAST!

Filth is the operative word here. Seeing these other reviews makes me think that staff, ownership or management must have changed since they were written. The picture of the interior is very misleading. It doesn’t look at all the same now, it’s crowded with clutter, including a table that appeared to be devoted to the owner’s paperwork. When I went in, every table was dirty while most were empty. The counter was covered with food holding cabinets that were filthy, there was clutter and a plastic grocery bag with some trash in it that sat up there virtually the whole time we were there. The area around the espresso machine and the machine itself were filthy. The coffee was bad tasting, possibly due to the machine and it’s parts not being cleaned and serviced properly. They may not be aware that it’s important to the flavor of espresso that the portafilter holders be cleaned and the machine’s lines need to be flushed and cleaned daily. If they are cleaning it properly, which I strongly doubt considering the visible state of the place, they need to shop around for different beans. Basically, the place made me uncomfortable because of filth and disorder. The two people working there were lounging at tables watching the t.v. when they weren’t helping us or other customers. Come on, people, don’t open a café and then be completely slovenly, please!

This is a tiny mom n pop coffee shop with very friendly service and a lot of old locals hanging around. I was greeted immediately upon entering and was regaled with interesting tales of Seattle from the 60’s by who I assume is the owner. He met Jimmy Hendrix’s dad in the 60’s when he used to trim everyone’s lawn, bottle of whiskey in hand. He also gave me tips on places to visit during my stay in Seattle. Not a lot of food options, but a full service coffee bar. Definitely a good stop if you want to experience hospitality and local flavor. Also he gave me the cup of coffee on the house!
