NOT A BURGERSTAND has MOVED, or, more explicitly, has reopened under a new name at a new location by the same owners. It is now Pub Nowhere at 1220 W. Burbank Blvd. in Burbank.

Heartbroken to know I can’t get their insanely delicious BBQ portobello mushroom sandwich with extra creamy coleslaw anymore. No more chocolate lasagna!!! The world just lost a little more luster. Please reopen in a new location! Burbank lost one of its best hidden gems when NABS closed.

It was a wonderful gem, fabulous neighborhood place with some of the BEST food ever. But the landlord raised the rent outrageously high, because he wanted NABS *out* — he has someone lined up to rent both lots at an even higher price. So, greed shoved this tiny, fantastic joint into the realm of all the businesses who have been *forced* to close. NABS was very profitable right up through the end. NABS owner is looking for another — affordable — restaurant property in the Burbank, Eagle Rock, or other cool«neighborhood» environs. If you know of such a place that is available, look for @Glock35Gal on Twitter and let me know. I’ll get word to Mr. NABS. Thanks to everyone who came through the door. I know the owner deeply appreciated your patronage. OMG, how I already miss that place.

I am distraught by Not a Burger Stand’s impending closure. In addition to having crave-worthy comfort food, NABS has waiters, waitresses, cooks, etc. who ensure that everyone feels like a regular. As this Unilocal review is probably too-little-too-late, I’ll reserve the balance for thank yous and shout outs. To everyone, particularly both Matts and Dave: — Thanks for all the bread pudding, vanilla malts, and daily specials. — Thanks for staying open later than advertised on many occasions because our crew can shamefully never remember(or respect) your closing times. — Thanks for putting up with the less than seemly side of BYOB. — Thanks for the special orders – and not judging us for inventing and ordering meatballs and marinara over cheesy fries. It’s been grand. I am hopeful that you will find a new location and will look forward to stopping by.

I’ve driven by this place numerous times while heading to the ice rink and was determined to give it a try before watching my friend’s hockey game. Was curious if they sold hamburgers. The place was fairly crowded and only had one waiter and one cook running the place. Matt, the waiter, was a «true» trooper. He was running all over the place trying to make the customers happy. I asked his recommendation of what I should order and he recommended the pulled pork sandwich since the pork was smoked on the premises. I also ordered french fries and a lemonade. It didn’t take too long to get my food and I was pleasantly surprised. The pork had a tasty smoky flavor with a flavorful barbecue sauce dripping over it. The french fries were nice and flavorful. They do have hamburgers on the menu and next time I’ll probably try one. I overheard a customer talking about a Facebook post that had caused the influx of customers to this place. This had also caused the kitchen to run out of some of the meals. Matt was great and really helped keep the place running and I will definitely be coming back when on this side of town.

I want to write a good review for this place but alas I cannot. The food is terrible. Pulled pork sandwich was super dry and flavorless. The burger was ok but on a terrible bun. The only thing that was good was my daughters hotdog and fries The location is nice as was the service. But I just can’t eat their again.

Great customer service. Happy staff. Ordered cod and their homemade chips– delicious Steamed artichoke– warm. So yummy and what a treat! Kids got a burger– good. Grilled cheese and fries– yummy! Doesn’t seem to have air conditioning but a nice breeze. Witnessed the chef giving a kid water for their dog outside. Sweet :) Always kept our drinks full and fast service. Coming back!

Grabbed lunch to go from here. First off, my dog and I get my out of my car and one of the guys that works there greets is with a HUGE smile. And as he gives me a menu he gives my dog a huge bowl of ice water!!! And cookies. Then they were super nice and my Thai chicken sandwich with home made potatoe chips was fabulous! Tender, fresh veggies. The décor is far from anything special but I am not there to look at pretty chairs. Will most likely go back tonight or tomorrow. I also now know whenever I am up here for work where I can get great food with my doggie. Super excited!

FOOD: Great tasting Pulled Pork Sandwich! They give you a large portion that is quite filling and the bread is a nice potato bun. Also the fries come in a basket large enough to share but a really hungry man can finish(not a really hungry woman) JK. Also the burger looked great that was my second choice. The patio seating was pretty it faces the corner street and sometimes people on horseback walk through the residential neighborhood which is also nice. PRICE: $ 6.50 — $ 12 Burger — $ 6.50 Pulled Pork Sandwich — $ 7.50 Fries — $ 2.50 You won’t spend more than $ 8 before tax if you get a simple sandwich and you don’t really need sides if you are just eating alone, a side is good for two people because the portion is for two people in my opinion and I eat a good amount. LOCATION: Can’t beat the price around there and the Travel Town Train exhibit is across the freeway there so it is a perfect place to eat before you visit(or the Walt’s Disney’s Barn which is open 1 a month). ATMOSPHERE: Could use a little updating, old chairs but they look vintage which is a plus for me outside in the patio area, but they use plastic tables that are nice but the large tables are just the ones you would use at a party, otherwise cute little white corner fence about 4 feet high to sit by while facing a corner street. The interior is beat-up a little and the lighting is a little dim, honestly a little updating and cleaning on the inside would be nice but it isn’t too bad. That is why I give it a 3 — stars the food was great but the interior could use updating.

It’s a locals joint, with simple dishes that are served by really friendly people. I came here for brunch and ordered their lobster roll. Not a lot of lobster meat, mostly artificial crab meat, but good. The rest of the dishes looked ok — but what surprised me was that when I asked about certain dishes they said that they may only have one or two left… which lead me to believe that they may pre make a lot of the dishes ahead of time and there is an assembly station for their food. the benedict was ok, slightly bland with a slightly over poached egg which missed the gooey yolky center. NABS would fit perfectly in any movie that has a local diner that is surrounded by a small town or a desert. The people with horses and spurs make me think of Hey Dude when I ate here– we were the city folk, surrounded by country. So not my go to, but maybe my 4th go to, further than I want to go for brunch, but not so far it’s not worth mentioning as an alternate place to eat. Hey no line and friendly people go a lot further than one would think. enjoy.

I have to say that when I drove up to this place I thought I had made a bad decision. It’s a small little place in the middle of nowhere and I was expecting something different. I walked inside and the décor is even more dated so I felt like running for the hills. But I had a Groupon and I was determined to use it. I ordered the shrimp and grits with a side of mac and cheese and at first bite, I was so glad I stayed! The shrimp were plump, good sized shrimp, cooked and seasoned perfectly. The cheese was melted into the grits so every bite was cheesy goodness. The mac and cheese was good but not the best I’ve had. With that being said, I would order it again and be happy to eat it. The prices are very reasonable. The parking lot and seating are limited. There’s indoor and outdoor seating. This is a place I will eat at again when I’m in the area. I’ve definitely found a favorite in the shrimp and grits. Better shrimp and grits than I’ve had at fancy restaurants. I’d only suggest a little bit of scallions and bacon to really send it over the top. Based on the photos of food from other Unilocalers, I’m sure I’ll find other favorites too! So don’t let the décor fool you. The food is really really good! This place is a diamond in the rough.

(+) crab cake sandwich was pretty good, I wonder if the $ 16.75 entrée version is much different (+) good service, friendly smiles (+) outdoor seating, nice little location within the neighborhood (-) interior could use some updating and serious TLC, a bit dingy, cushions torn up & dirty (-) flies(x___x)

Very disappointed, the service was the only thing good about this place. Ok I ordered the«Pulled Pork sandwich» VERYDRY I had to remove all the meat and shredd it myself, and the piece I got was Bernt. BBQ sauce taste average, nothing special. Coleslaw very tastles added salt n pepper. Fires average. Ambiance. I can appreciate, ranch style theme settings, but you have to wipe off the dirty fingerprints,& clean the dirty vents. I’m not going to say«?!what?!»… But things landed on my food. If your located next to horse stables and ranches, please do your best, to keep out the flys. I wanted to like it… But I was beat at every turn. Sorry guys you work hard, just feel short.

Came here for lunch after someone told me about it and I looked it up on Unilocal. It was empty inside, except for the 15 flies buzzing around. I don’t think I ordered the right food because it wasn’t that great. — Fish and chips: disappointing: Too much batter and didn’t taste very fresh — Corn fritters: also too much batter — Pulled pork sandwich: piled high with meat. Not bad — Brisket sandwich: also lots of meat, which is great, but it lacked the smokey flavor that it should have if it’s smoked Overall, I’d give the food 2 stars and the service 5 stars. The service was great and everyone working there was super friendly. I’ll go back to actually try a burger or one of the dinner specials they often have but I’ll either take it to go or sit outside to avoid having to swat flies off the food every 30 seconds.

Used my Groupon just the other day for Not a Burger Stand. Comfort foods at its finest in south Burbank(close to the Disney studios and equestrian center). It’s a small restaurant with outdoor and inside seating and some parking spots/street parking. Food’s good here. Lots of burgers, salads, fried stuff, BBQ, sandwiches, etc. Everything is quick, the order’s are large and the prices aren’t expensive. Groupons/Living Social deals are deals to bring in new customers… I’m sold! My crab cake burger was awesome! Corn fritters not bad, service was cool! Not a lot of seats and tables so I’d imagine it would be busy during the lunch time.

I’ve had a couple experiences here, and I so wanted this place to be delicious. Always rooting for that small spot with the big bite but this restaurant unfortunately didn’t deliver. So I’ve has a couple things here and here is my take: Chicken and dumplings — too salty Green beans — too soggy Mac and cheese — first attempt it was soggy, second attempt deeeelicious Breakfast — do not recommend breakfast here… Had three dishes all of which we’re overpriced and not very good. Crab cakes — look and taste like frozen patties Pulled pork and brisket — if they think dumping sauce does the trick…, Just a burger — probably most honest thing on the menu. Chicken wings — ok. I’m sorry I just didn’t have good experiences here, and to boot it’s not very clean.
