I came here with my boss and 2 other coworkers and only me my boss and one other coworker were getting food So we go to our table and the coworker who isn’t eating sits down pulls out his phone and starts browsing the Internet and doesn’t move at all After about twenty minutes of the three of us eating while my boss is up getting food the manager came up to us and told us that the four of us were rotating getting up and eating which was not true In fact our coworker who wasn’t eating hadn’t gotten up at all from the table She tried getting my coworker to get up and wait outside So when my boss got back he asked to speak with her after we told him what had happened and when he asked for her name she or business card she refused to give it to him and very disrespectfully told us that we didn’t have to come there I am very upset at the fact that we were told not asked that we did something that we did not do

accused of having an extra person and unfairly asked to leave wich was very disrespectful. was said by staff that we were switching spots. Once we had a talk with the manager she spoke rudely and interrupted us while we spoke then without hesitating mentioned she doesn’t care if we return or not

I’m upgrading it to a four star this time. For under $ 10 bucks, their weekday lunch was pretty darn delightful.

Went here with my family because my mom had a coupon and she felt like eating a quick«soup and salad bar». This place was close by and convenient. Its also been years since we’ve been here so we decided to just give this place a shot. And wow we were wrong about coming here… –the sliced hard boiled egg provided for salad was gummy tasting, did not taste like real egg –roast beef in carvery section was served cold –soup was salty –mashed potato was too dense –any meat hot dish was cold –mac and cheese and the hot cheese offered for vegetables and tortilla chips was salty –BBQ was hard and served cold as well basically many of the dishes here was either too salty or served cold. Brought up our thoughts on the food being cold to our server and she said she would tell someone about our issues. The manager came to our table and asked if we wanted a new batch of BBQ, but we said no thank you because it was not just cold but very hard. She said she would fix the roast beef, my brother and I went for seconds and it was still cold. Overall I would rate this place 1.5 stars, 0.5 for the okay food, and 1 star for the good service we received. Sunday dinner time the restaurant was pretty full, many people seem to enjoy this place but this place is not for my family and I.

Actually one of the best hometowns I’ve been too. Food was decent/good and the service was great. Laura was our server. Very sweet and nice =]

This place is horrible! Where should I start!!? First of all, the food was cold while it was still under the«warmers.» Secondly, the plates and utensils had were filthy with dried up food stuck on them. Third, it took our waitress forever to clear the used/old plates from our table. Fourth, the waitress staff continued to sweep next to the tables that people were eating at causing debris and dust to fly around everywhere. If you care about eating in a clean environment, then please don’t go to this place. Save your health & money! :-(

Exactly what I expected it to be, never set high standards for a hometown & you’ll leave feeling just like you should, regretting your life choices

I love their pot pies… Freaking creamy, the waitress are all friendly and cute as well. The price is ok for the amount of food that they offer you, i tried the coconut cake and it wasnt that big of a deal, just like any other piece of cake would taste like, plain and simple, but beside that an ok place to go at least twice a month

Not a bad place. I enjoy the variety. Good beef, remember I said good, not extraordinary. Mexican and Chinese offerings are also decent. I like the chicken pot pie on Tuesdays, as well as the hamburger steaks. Desserts are better than average. Wait staff girls are also pleasant and pleasant to look at. No chauvinism here, just the facts. I do wear glasses so there you go, I defy anyone to say their ladies who clear tables are not good looking.

If you want to suck all the pleasure out of eating, then, by all means, come here and eat this prison cafeteria slop they are passing off as buffet food. I even tried a slice of cake, thinking«surely, even a cheap cake might still taste OK.» But, oh no, I was wrong. It was dry and flavorless.

Wow. The food here has tremendously upgraded! Even their macaroni and cheese has so much flavor and very scrumptious! Their food went from bland to delicious all of a sudden.

WOWTHISPLACEHOWGONEDOWNHILL. Everything was fine until we had desert. As my mother was eating her chocolate cake, she happened to find a hair inside it! That alone made the visit unpleasant, but it took our waitress 25 minutes to notify the manager about the situation. I don’t know what was more disgusting, the hair inside the chocolate cake or the customer service. Avoid this place at all costs; just spend a few more bucks and go to Outback Steakhouse or Olive Garden.

Quite possibly the dirtiest restaurant I’ve been to. Not only was the odor and atmosphere disgusting… the food was unappealing. Their saving grace was the mashed potatoes and gravy and fried chicken. The service was amazing, but I couldn’t get past the uncleanliness of the place! The mac and cheese was awful and that’s what I wanted most! I chose a hot fudge chocolate cake dessert and it was uncooked… like a 2nd grade experiment gone bad! I didn’t have high 5 star expectations, but I couldn’t believe how dirty it was for a place that stays pretty busy.

Came here on a weekday night and it was pretty messy. The ice cream station was a complete disaster and when one of the managers finally decided to clean it up she didn’t practice good hand hygiene. If I remember correctly she grabbed a cone with her bare hand to give to one of the kids :/

A far better Hometown Buffet than the one in Van Nuys! I will NEVER waste my time at the Van Nuys; especially after coming here! Way way way better! The food is better than any Hometown Buffet I have been to and higher quality! Meat loaf is yummy, chicken is great! On occasion, they have chicken pot pies… highly recommend. The place is relatively clean and the staff pleasant!

If there are any hometown buffet representatives from their corporate office reading this or anyone from upper management, please take what I’m about to say into consideration. This place is a mess and it needs an overhaul. I’ve gone to various hometown buffet locations throughout the years and honestly enjoyed going. For the price, it’s a decent meal. Let’s start off at the craving station. 2 of the employees were tag teaming between cutting meat and cleaning with dirty rags. They put the rags in their back pockets and would proceed to cut the meats whenever a costumer would come and then return to cleaning. One of the employees looked really sloppy and didn’t even wear his gloves to cut the food!!! I told the manager this and at first she was trying to defend her employees which is admirable but then she became rude. Rolling her eyes and she even offered us a coupon but then took the offer back after a short conversation with our party. Overall the place was just dirty. The buffet area lacked food and everything was dried up and began to build a crust of some sort. Employees off the clock were just hanging out at the register. I could go on but most of the reviews posted here share my experience.

The food is good. Service us usually good as well. Price is right. Unfortunately, today was a disappointment. There was a staff shortage apparently someone called out(from what we overheard). The place was a mess! The busboy was busting his… trying to keep up, but it was too much. The place was packed! We were there for over an hour and our plates were picked up right before we left… not once in between. Our table was filled with dishes. The manager Gayana(sp?) was useless. All she did was complain to the staff about the person who called out and about how they could not find a replacement to cover. Gayana did not clear ONE table in the whole time were there. As a pleasant surprise Dana(sp?) A. Shift Leader came in about 2:30pm and immediately started clearing tables. We were impressed, along with others in the room. We overheard other tables complaining about Gayana and her lack of action. Perhaps a retraining session is in order. I hope you all make note of the type of employee you have in regards to Dana. I hope she is given the appreciation she deserves.($$, hours, shifts requested, time off … etc.) I am a HR professional and believe that it is important to reward your good employees.
