I took up the guitar just a very short time after Guitar District moved from Charlestown, MA(practically on my doorstep) to the left coast. Having done business with them online, I can say that this outfit appears to be absolutely top-notch. Their prices at least match and often beat the big box retailers — and they did an absolutely superb job of setting up my guitar. I honestly felt that it had been labored over by a professional luthier when I received it. I’ve also found them extremely friendly to deal with — patiently answering my questions whenever they came up. It’s really tough to imagine how any retailer could better support their merchandise than these guys do. My guitar-playing friends in California are forever complaining that there just aren’t *any* good guitar stores on the West Coast. But I’m pretty confident that Guitar District will resolve that problem once and for all whenever they open up that first retail store in 2013. (Now if we could just get them to open a 2nd store in Boston)

Though Guitar District is mainly a web-shop, I happened to be nearby and happened to need a ZVex Trem Probe pedal before I left in less than 2 days. The guys here we’re more than happy to oblige me and let me come by the shop and pick up the pedal(with a custom paint job no less!) so I didn’t have to wait for it to ship. They were super nice, really knowledgeable and have a great stock of gear, including other custom-shop ZVex goodies. I hear they’re moving to the left coast, which is a shame cause Boston is definitely lacking in friendly, well stocked independent music retailers.
