Best clams and crab legs around. The people are great especially the kitchen crew. I’ve known Gary since before he bought the Ramp.

Words cannot describe how much I love the steamers and linguine! I travel almost 2,000 miles to California, Gary Bric’s Ramp is a «must have» once, twice, or thrice!!! Love it all!

I was introduced to the #ramp in #Burbank by my uncle whom has been coming here forever. It has maintained the old school bar/steak house feel which is a nice step away from some of the more modern places I frequent. They have a very nice menu with items from burgers to steaks, salads to steamed oysters(which by the way are one of my favorite menu items). I usually go with the burger and split the accompanying side between fries and rings. Its a tasty burger and its priced well and its always been cooked just right. The steaks are high quality and not outrageously priced and they are served with a variety of potato options. This is a place I will definitly continue to patronize.

Seafood combo was a special today and was it good. Also liked the cheese bread. Had a cadillac margarita to start off and we were set.

After attending a wedding in the area, Gary’s was recommended to us and it did not disappoint. Gary himself was tending bar, the atmosphere of the Ramp is amazing, and Gary might be one of the coolest and nicest people I’ve ever met. I absolutely love this bar and look forward to coming back next time I am in the area. Hell, I might even just come up next time I’m in LA and bring more friends with me.

Gary is the man. Great food no matter what we have tried and we have explored the whole menu. All of the waitstaff have been wonderful. I love this place. I almost want to keep it a secret it’s that good.

I work as a journalist in the music industry and travel to L.A. from the SF Bay Area about once every month or two. Given where the people I meet up with want to go, I’m often staking my place on a spindle-like chair in a hip gastropub or craft cocktail bar downtown or in West L.A. If I want to relax, get fed, and get liquored, I would far prefer to be at Gary Bric’s 90 percent of the time. Visually, this is one of those places you might miss if you don’t know it’s there – perhaps because you did a search within this fine four-letter-word of an app. The joint is tucked behind the on-ramp to the 5 Freeway South on the hillbound side of Hollywood Way near Burbank Airport. Looking at it from the outside, you might even wonder if it’s in business for real. It is, and it’s in that increasingly precious commodity of dining and drinking establishments I like to file under«escape from cool.» The interior décor is like a family restaurant meets a dive bar. Where you might expect to find Hell’s Angels … doting as they bounce their grandchildren on their knees. But let’s talk about the food. American classics rendered very, very well. Steak and prime rib are a specialty, but at this time I have in fact had just two full meals there(there WILL be more): the Julie sandwich and a Chilean sea bass topped with bay shrimp. The Julie, one of their most popular lunch items, consists of a pile of prime roast beef about as big as your head, smushed between slices of sourdough garlic bread which have a thick slice of melted cheddar on EACH side, with your choice of sides and creamy horseradish dressing served in a ramekin. I got their homemade mushroom soup – a Monday special – as my side, and it did not disappoint. A day later for dinner, I was told about the sea bass special. It came smothered in bay shrimp and juiliened veggies, and was obviously fresh. The proprietor buys his seafood from Fish King, a distributor who is more expensive but clearly much higher-quality than what you’ll get at an upscale casual dining chain. This is the level of quality seafood I’d expect from a place like Chaya Bistro. Better, in fact. But goddamn them all to hell for filling me up on that so-called half order of delicious garlic cheese bread. Dr, Atkins is squirming in his grave, which is good, because I just may need him to scoot over. Speaking of the proprietor, yes Virginia, there really is a Gary Bric, and until recently he was a longtime city councilman, and for a few years the mayor, of the city of Burbank. He will make you feel like a regular on your first visit. And the man pours generously. You will find him behind the bar nearly every night. The only thing not going on here is craft cocktails. Gary’s bar philosophy is decidedly old-school, being about hospitality and a stiff shot of booze more than fancy mixology involving amaro and bitters and egg whites and that one vermouth no one has heard of. That’s fine – we know where to get that. Like, everywhere. But if you want to get stuffed to the gills with classic American food made using premium ingredients, have highballs that will make your liver want to start a labor union, and feel like a neighbor, get thee to Gary’s house. If you’re from out of town(or even if you’re not), I can only recommend you stay at the Marriott near Burbank Airport, just down the street. Because you’re not gonna want to drive after visiting here. In fact, that Marriott includes a Daily Grill that is staffed by very courteous and friendly people. And THEY go to Gary Bric’s, because it’s superior in every way. I don’t want to get maudlin but I’ve been everywhere and this place is an American classic. Some skinny-ass hipster will write a chapter about it in a coffee-table book someday.

My parents and I had never been here before and my parents had told me all about it and how they heard it was good food. So for my dad’s 90th birthday, so I made a reservation which was recommended and I took them there on August 13, 2015. Being a special occasion, I was HOPING that we weren’t going to be disappointed. Well, we weren’t! We started with cocktail drinks that were perfect and the Garlic Cheese Bread which I highly recommend and it’s better than the Smokehouse! My parents both had the biggest finest cut of Filet Mignon that any of us had ever seen. It was prepared exactly how they liked it… medium rare. I had the Sea bass which of course was huge and delicious. All three of us had enough left over for lunch the next day. The place reminds me of a 70’s-80’s old steakhouse and the bar area looks like the same people have been coming there for 30 years. I happen to like that comfortable un-stuffy feel to the place. The wait staff was ONIT too! I brought flowers for my parents and the busboy immediately grabbed a bucket of water for the flowers so they didn’t die. I thought that our great experience had ended when we walked out the door but a gentleman who was sitting outside approached us and asked if my dad was the birthday boy. Come to find out, it was the owner Gary Bric who engaged such a wonderful stroll down memory lane of the valley with my dad who could relate since this is where he grew up. He then helped my parents into their car and made sure they had the right directions to get to the freeway. I CANNOT speak more highly of this place! From the drinks, the food, the staff… I will absolutely be going back to this place and recommending it to ALL my family and friends!

Fantastic dining experience! I finally tried this place on a Friday night with my partner. This place is nuzzled on a small corner way up on North Hollywood Way, but we were teleported to the midwest as soon as we walked in. It has the feel of a Wisconsin lakeside family restaurant. We ordered the New Zealand Mussles with the garlic bread, which we came to regret because we gorged ourselves. It had the most perfect lemon-garlic broth and it was perfect for bread dipping. GETTHEGARLICBREAD! We went to town on that dish but wanted to try something from the main menu. For the main course, I ordered the broiled red snapper which was absolutely delicious and my husband ordered the NY steak. He said it needed a little salt but it was cooked exactly right. We also had a cup of the clam chowder. I was not a fan, but I am particular when it comes to chowders. We could barely finish our food because we were stuffed with the mussels and bread, but we enjoyed it! Even more of a treat, the MAN Gary came to our table and introduced himself. That was awesome. We had a great dining experience and will definitely return.

This is a solid local place, and no need to be shy, they are maybe the nicest local owners and staff there is. I had the sea bass and it was amazing. You get all the love of a local bar with the quality of food I have come to expect from San Francisco restaurants. a must try!

The picture tells the story. Interesting place, they seem a little cranky with new comers; you get the feeling that the NORM’s holding court at the bar are judging you. Food was good. Gary thought my old fashioned was high maintenance. LOL!!! Had I known it was a beer, bad wine or tequila shot kind of place, I would have gone that route. Miss the on-ramp to the I-5, and give it a try.

No idea why people are giving this place high ratings. It’s extremely average, it’s just bar food and not that great. Service is good but place looks extremely dated.

It’s been really cold this week so I wanted clam chowder. My favorite clam chowder place closed. My second favorite took it off the menu so I needed to find a new source. Gary Bric’s Ramp is now my go-to clam chowder spot, even though it’s quite a drive from my office. I got a couple orders to go, along with some fried calamari, which my dining pal liked but I didn’t. It’s thick slices of calamari steak, which is great for some, but I prefer those squiggly head things. It’s a personal preference so no fault on the part of the restaurant. I’m looking forward to trying the patty melt, tuna melt, and a steak at some point. I’m not someone who likes to go to bars but there were people there who were having a nice time at the bar with friends. I didn’t see the main restaurant area so can’t comment on that. The server & bartender were both nice. Check the place out sometime!

Love coming here. Lately I’ve been in once or twice a week. Trying different things, and they have all been great. The service is awesome! And the food is even better. Clam chowder is always a must at Gary’s. The outside looks a bit aged but don’t let that fool you, the food is awesome. Walk in there and check it out. I haven’t had a bad thing here. 5 stars cause the customer service was excellent. I gave it a 4 at one time but then had a very awesome experience that made me boost it to 5.

First time here. Overall our experience was great. The service was good, but at times lost sight of our waitress when it got busy. I came with my family. They got stuffed mushrooms, salmon, and shrimp. Everything was to their liking. Unfortunately I got the Lemon chicken and had to send it back. There was no lemon flavor at all. It was topped with a few slices of lemon which gave it a little flavor when squeezed but still was not satisfying. The gravy on top was not very good either. I decided to get the chicken verano and it was delicious! With all entries you get a soup or Salad and a side. Good portions and food is presentable. There is no pictures on the menu. I would prefer some pictures myself. They have a phone policy there. I will post a picture. Wine and beer is good. The owner Gary is very nice. Chatted with him for a bit. I will definitely be back to try a new dish.
