I’ve had Frach’s Fried Ice Cream numerous times and have tried each of their creations and must say they are each amazing in their own way! For those unfamiliar with fried ice cream, they premake their icecream and have have it wrapped in a cake-like dough. And then depending on which creation you choose, they’ll either fry the dough and ice cream by itself or they’ll cover it in tempura batter and then fry that. Then they cover it with sauce, whether it chocolate, caramel, or fruit… it’s ALLFRESH and homemade! And it’s then topped off with whipped cream(also fresh!) The owners Freddy and Zach take pride in their creations and ensure that each customer is receiving a work of art. They have great customer service and their truck always looks impeccably clean!

We got Mexican, Carmel ice cream and chocolate sauce. Was good. Was it super special, not so much. I appreciated the different combos but I have to agree with other reviewers regarding price. Not worth $ 12 bucks. Service okay, no one in line and one person waiting and guy didn’t bother to address us. Better off going to Sweet Lady Jane’s or Portos. Beverly Hills hotel has a killer soufflé for $ 20. This was In front of Ralph’s with no place to sit.

Driving home today I was craving ice cream. As I was about to make a left into my street I saw the food truck and it said«fried ice cream». I guess it was meant to be. I got the vanilla ice cream with chocolate cake. This was recommended for a first timer. It’s covered in tempura batter with whip cream on it and I chose the caramel syrup. It hit the spot but it didn’t meet my expectations. It was too sweet in my opinion and kinda heavy(I probably shouldn’t have ate it all by myself). I’m knocking down an extra star because of the price since I don’t think it’s worth $ 12, should be somewhere around $ 8. That’s the price you usually pay anywhere else for something like this. I’m not saying I won’t try this place again, it’s worth giving it one more shot with the Japanese or Thai ice cream which seems a bit healthier.

Walk away if you’re trying to devoid yourself of the best things this world has to offer. I get it you’re on a diet. Vegas is next month. You promised yourself no sweets. More power to you. However, I’m going to talk to those of us able to savior in all the Universe’s sweet creations. This is it. Let me begin. Choose a dessert type i.e. Thai, Mexican or Original followed by housemate ice cream of your choice + toppings & then the magic happens. OR you can do what I did and order the monthly special. I couldn’t pass up the«Green Geisha». Yes, it’s about as exotic and beautiful as it’s name suggest. A house made sake ice cream covered in key lime cake neatly wrapped in a tempura shell. Topped finally with house made blueberry compote & whipped cream. Truly one of the most unique and divine desserts i’ve ever had. Served by the most sincere faces I’ve come across in the service industry. Freddy, you made my night. When you find this truck no matter the time just go for it. I know, sweets are usually the last thing eaten. however, at the OC Night Market I saw them turn away 30 people because they couldn’t fulfill their orders in time for closing. Did some investigating and it looks like you can find their daily locations on instagram @Frachs!

Hate to knock a small business as I love to support, which is what I thought when I saw $ 12 for ice cream, I said whatever I’ll support. So I ordered the classic vanilla or something like that. Dude it’s all hype me and my friends were not satisfied. It’s was like a small ass amount of ice cream in cake batter? In a waffle cone feed fried with more batter on the outside. It was like just hella soggy and alllllll the powdered sugar making a mess everywhere doesn’t help either. The dude serving was cool no problems with service or anything, but just the product wasn’t all that. I swear I would’ve been better off going to 31 flavors a block away. Still had to support a small business since I know the grind is tough.

Previous to my visit to Frach’s I have probably only had fried ice cream once or twice. I saw the pictures of their delicious creations floating around FB and Instagram and knew I needed to give them a try. On Friday night at The Great American Foodie Fest they had a ridiculous line so I waited patiently until today to give them a try. The variety of options was impressive. They have a nice selection of ice cream flavors, sauces, and shell seasonings. I went with the Mexican inspired option since I’d be sharing with my husband and he isn’t as adventurous with food. My ice cream choice was pineapple and the sauce was chocolate. The shell was crispy, but not too difficult to break through. The shell tasted great with the pineapple ice cream and the chocolate shell. I loved that they load the top of the creation with whipped cream and a few cinnamon tortilla chips for some added yumminess.

Stopped at Frach’s Fried Ice Cream Truck today. Got the caramel ice cream in a vanilla cake that melts in your mouth and leaves you counting the seconds until you can enjoy it again. I wish I could crawl up and live inside this dessert!!! You have got to try this delectable, decadent delicacy.

Stopped by with my girlfriend after a long day of work. It was our first time trying it out, we were not dissapointed. I’m writing this review as I’m literally parked right in front frach’s food truck.

I got the Japanese Green Tea with chocolate sauce upon Zach’s recommendation and it was AMAZING!!! The coconut on the outside makes it so crunchy while creating an amazing nest for the ice cream! Zach was so nice and friendly! Seriously, above and beyond good customer service. My friends and I got there as he was closing shop and he re-opened just for us. I got to try each of the different styles and they were all quite tasty. Support @FRACHS and get an amazing dessert. #winwin

Wow in a bad way. Cool truck, I say keep it but. 14 $ for a fried cream special is too much the moment the product is done just right. The dish was dragon fruit ice cream fried with a special kiwi sauce. — dragon fruit ice cream = unique, strong — fried shell = wayy to hard like lazy frying — kiwi sauce = way tooooo little sauce So like I was saying early tonight, as the truckie I am: «the idea and flavors are there but the execution is seriously SERIOUSLY lacking.

Was walking to On pre-Halloween night near Porthos, and decided to get dessert here instead. They had a large variety of different fried ice creams with got our interest. My favorite of the two we tried was the«Japanese» style, which had Panko crust on the outside and green tea ice cream inside. What was nice was the crust was thin and light– which made for a nice treat while walking outside. The«original» was a tempura battered ice cream, which didn’t taste much different than the traditional fried ice creams I had before. Nothing to «original» I suppose at least for this flavor. Next time I want to give a shot to their«Thai» style, which is a bread covering with possible Thai Tea flavored ice cream!!! Wish I got it tonight, but now have something to look forward to next time.

Now that’s a Frach-ing good dessert. Frach’s Fried Ice Cream, an LA-based food truck, has reportedly been to the desert before. I read an article about their summer stint at Grand Bazaar Shops outside Bally’s. However, I think their true Las Vegas debut happened at the Great American Foodie Fest in Henderson this weekend. I was intrigued by the concept, and I was impressed enough that I had them twice in the same day. They have a few different styles of fried ice cream, which vary in the shell surrounding the ice cream as well as the available flavors. Both of my encounters involved their Frach’s Thai($ 10 at this event), a homemade ice cream core wrapped in what they call toasted exotic spice bread. I liked this bread a lot. The spices really came through, the texture was crunchy but not too hard on both occasions, and it was complemented by the powdered sugar, whipped cream and the honey(other sauces also available: chocolate, caramel, strawberry, pineapple). The only reason I’m not giving five stars is the passion fruit ice cream, which I had in my first encounter. I am very familiar with the flavor of the actual passion fruit, and I even ate one such fruit earlier in the day before trying this. Much like the artificial stuff often found in boba drinks, the flavor of this ice cream bears no resemblance whatsoever to the fruit. It tasted good, and the ice cream was very cold and smooth. I enjoyed everything except the«passion fruit» flavor, so I ended up getting the lemongrass-ginger Frach’s Thai again in the evening. Fortunately, those flavors were more authentic, and they were consistent with the ice cream texture and the spice bread. I think I’ll be happy with this or with the Vietnamese coffee options for Frach’s Thai; lychee sounds like it’d be another faux flavor. I can’t wait to try Frach’s Fried Ice Cream again! Maybe I’ll have to give their Frach’s Japanese or their Red Dragon a go today, which is the last day of Foodie Fest. Otherwise, I hope that they return next year! They’re definitely a must-try in my book.

Um where has this been all my fat life? It’s like why when Im trying to be healthy this goodness comes into my life? Experienced this divine goodness at an outdoor movie laced with food trucks. The line was long so I knew it was amazing. I went simple– the original, vanilla ice cream, chocolate coating and caramel syrup. The juxtaposition between the crunchy fried flaky shell and then the soft thin layer of chocolate cake with the ice cream core was heaven. Drool. Oh and the dude who sold it to me had a dreamy accent and piercing eyes– so he got a tip! I let it melt a bit so it was easier to get through every layer(that’s a fatty tip)

At the OC Night Market, I spotted fried ice cream. I LOVE fried ice cream. I’ve had it at the Houston rodeo and at random restaurants. I was surprised there was a truck selling just fried ice cream. If that’s all they sell, it must be pretty good, right? The fried ice cream was phenomenal! Flawless! I got the Japanese fried ice cream with green tea. The green tea ice cream was smooth and creamy. Not too frozen, as you might anticipate considering the ice cream remains intact after being fried. The shell was delicious! There were little confetti strips of coconut weaved into Panko, which resulted in a interesting texture. I was anticipating tempura-level of Panko crunchiness, but I didn’t really taste the Panko(which is not a bad thing at all — just not what I was expecting). Coconut complemented the green tea flavor surprisingly well. Presentation of the dessert was cute and the first spoon dig is like opening a mystery box to uncover the secrets within. The staff in the bus were friendly and helpful! Would undoubtedly been a 5 star if not for the $ 10 price. Being a food truck and in LA and at a festival, I anticipate higher prices but the price is higher than I’m willing to pay for fried ice cream. To me, fried ice cream is not a luxury high-class dessert, like tiramisu. It’s like apple pie to me. Looking at historical Unilocal reviews, I see it has been more inexpensive in the past. I personally think the perfect price point is $ 8.

UMAREYOUSERIOUSTHERE’S NOWAYTHISPLACEISREALITISSOFREAKINDELICIOUS Yall there is a reason Frach’s has 5 stars from pretty much everyone — it ROCKS. I had the pleasure of tasting the deliciousness that is Frach’s fried ice cream for the first time at the Stagecoach country music festival this year and I swear it changed my life. Yes, you are paying $ 10 for ice cream, but the servings are HUGE and worth every penny. There are so many fun flavors to try here — the Original, which has a cakey outside, the Mexican, which is cinnamony and includes chocolate tortilla chips, the Thai, which includes a bready outside and spices, the Japanese, which combines Panko and coconut flakes, and even the Vegan(self explanatory!) There are dozens of ice cream, shell, and sauce combinations to choose from, too! I had the Mexican with caramel ice cream and chocolate sauce and I’m not kidding when I say it may be the best damn dessert I’ve ever had. The center is frozen and creamy, the outside is deep fried but light and sugary, the homemade whip cream is divine, and the tortilla chips were a sweet bonus. I am already looking into ways to track this food truck down for the future…

I first tried Frach’s Fried Ice Cream(Frach’s) when they were in San Diego for the Great American Foodie Fest at Qualcomm Stadium. I had never heard of the truck before, but apparently they have a HUGE following, since they are the first truck to serve fried ice cream in the U.S. You learn something new every day! The truck itself was closed for some time when the fair opened(I went on Friday evening, opening night) but I waited for that truck to open so I could get dessert. I had my heart set on trying that fried ice cream! I was first in line, and let’s just say that the wait for the truck to open was worth it. I was gawking at the prices a little – $ 12 for a ball of deep fried ice cream?!? – but I realized the ball actually could be shared between two people(if you feel like sharing). If I were hungrier, I probably could have easily downed my own, but since I was sort of full from the other food we tried that night, I agreed to split one of the ice cream balls with a friend. We placed our order – you choose what type of fried ice cream you want(Original, Mexican, Japanese or Thai) – and you get to choose what ice cream flavor you want, as well as one sauce. The owner(I’m pretty sure he was the owner) took our order and he recommended the caramel sauce for the«Original,» so we went with that. I ordered my dessert sans whipped cream – though the Frach’s whipped cream IS homemade, the owner assured me – just because I don’t like whipped cream. It only took a few minutes for our dessert to come out, and it was worth every single penny! I’m not sure if I’ll ever get to try this dessert again, so I was really happy that I got to experience this novelty! It’s definitely worth it if you’ve never tried it … and I would gladly shell out $ 12 for this deep fried ball of creamy goodness again(if it were $ 10, that would be more budget friendly, but the dessert was freshly prepared and super good). Here’s what we got: «Original»: I decided to keep things simple and go for Frach’s signature item … plus, this dessert was basically a twist on the classic ice cream and cake. It featured cold, smooth and decadent homemade ice cream in your choice of flavor(chocolate or vanilla) and a middle layer of warm, soft, homemade cake coating designed to complement your ice cream and protect it during the frying process. The outer shell coating is made with hot, crispy, crunchy tempura and the whole ball is topped with a sauce(your choice) and whipped cream(which I opted to skip). This is probably one of my favorite desserts of all time. I’m NOT a fan of melted ice cream … but Frach’s really has this deep fried ice cream business down to a science. The ice cream was smooth and hard, and the surrounding layer of chocolate cake really was moist, fudgy and warm. It was so cool that the ice cream wasn’t a soupy mess! The layer of cake was decent in terms of thickness — you get a good mix of cake AND ice cream with every bite. The exterior tempura layer was the«icing» on this cake, though. The layer was perfectly fried — not too hard and crispy, and they don’t skimp on the amount of batter used, either. And the owner was right — the caramel drizzle(I would have gone with chocolate if he didn’t make that recommendation) was the perfect finishing touch on this dessert. There was crunch in every single bite, and I enjoyed the subtly sticky sweetness from the caramel. What an amazing blend! … it’s easy to see why Frach’s has such an incredible following. «Frach’s Mexican»: I had debated getting this fried ice cream flavor, but decided to go with the«Original» for my first visit … this«Mexican» version will have to wait until next time. It features the ultra-smooth, decadent homemade ice cream core surrounded by an outer shell coating made from crushed corn flakes with cinnamon sugar. This flavor is completed with warm, whole wheat tortilla chips that are tossed with cinnamon sugar and served for dipping. From the photos, it looked like the tortilla chips were more of a garnish and I would probably crumble them in my ice cream once I break through that tempura shell. I look forward to trying this flavor on my next visit! «Milkshakes»: If I’m able to deviate from that fried ice cream goodness, I would want to try one of the featured milkshakes. I would probably stick to chocolate – my traditional choice if no further decadent flavors are available – but Frach’s milkshakes sound unique because each is hand-whipped on the spot with milk to achieve a creamy texture. I would probably opt to pair the milkshake with a chocolate or caramel sauce(no whipped cream); you could even choose to pair yours with BOBA popping pearls. I’ve tasted some pretty delicious milkshakes during my time, but I anticipate trying the version from this revolutionary fried ice cream truck. If their fried ice cream balls are any indication of their desserts, this milkshake is sure to be award-winning.

Super delicious! I loved their batter, and I love how big it was. You can share one ice cream, and you’ll be stuffed. It was a busy night in weho for Halloween, but even tho it was raining, everyone and their mothers had to grab a fried ice cream! You won’t be dissatisfied. $ 10 for a reg vanilla temp with vanilla ice cream. Do it!
