I love the chicken makhani. It tastes better than most indian places and its not too sweet. The food is pretty fresh and the place looks great inside. Our waiter was very friendly and gave us great suggestions. I personally feel like taste of india is a gem in buffalo and its been in business for 25 years. This place has a great lunch buffet and many vegetarian options as well. The okra bagi is very good and I love the tondoori. If you want spice in your food, they will give you. Naan is served with raita and all the entrees come with a handful of rice. Goat biryani is good. Give this place a shot and disregard other Unilocal reviews and try it for yourself

Actually I will give the zero rating. The food tastes average but the guy who is serving the table is so arrogant that even he is not at all willing to serve the food… the worst restaurant service I’ve ever seen in USA. It’s a waste of money and time… hope this helps the restaurant to improve and others to avoid this kind of service less restaurant.

This is by far the most unhygienic restaurant I have ever been to. I visited this place with my family on a busy Friday night and we noticed how inefficiently the place was being managed. When one of the tables next to us was vacated, the table wasn’t even cleaned and the waitress overturned the soiled table cloth instead of using a new one. Later, she went on to lick her finger while separating out the paper table mats. Gross! The food quality was poor. The rotis had a layer of oil on them and the rice was cold and tasteless. I wonder why the restaurant isn’t forced to shut down due to poor hygienic conditions.

I went to pick up food and there was this nosey stupid counter guy, who started flirting with me and asking too many questions as if I was Indian or not? How is that any of your business? I’m your customer, not a street girl who you trying to pick up! Plus the Veggie Somosa was so old and burned. They put bell pepper in Chicken Tikka Masala. Who does that? Do they even know how to make it? The Chef doesn’t know how to cook. He didn’t even fry the poori properly, it was frozen from inside. Horrible customer service for a take out order. Plus Over charging for shitty food. I cook better Indian then them, when I’m not even Indian. Never going there, total waste of money and horrible experience!

Loveeee this place!!! Remind me of home cooking from Bangladesh. So delish. The buffet is full of variety but my favorite dish is the chicken mahkani and garlic naan. Staff is super nice. It’s a go to place for me!!!

Came here for an early dinner on a Monday evening. I was skeptical at first because there wasn’t that many people, but when the food came out… It was amazing! I ordered the Lamb Makhani and my boyfriend ordered the Chicken Curry along with naan. Both dishes were very flavorful and served in great portions for the price. Very pleased with the service and the food, will definitely recommend and come back.

Wow. Indian Spicy Chicken Chili. That was amazing. Worth the price. Definitely fresh ingredients and house-made flavors. Chicken had a beautiful grill on it. Rice was a great portion with it. Will definitely be adding this to the list of places to go back!

Food is great but their delivery, third party is not there. The Papadum am is so small and the reika is less than one ounce! Wow, for $ 6.50 is ridiculous. Overall the portions are so small.

Ok let me start of with the fact that I dislike writing reviews because I usually find it unnecessary, plus my brother is a Restauranteur who enjoys critiquing restaurants for — quality, quantity and service accordingly to the money that is spent. This restaurant is by far the worst in every possible way. This is an offense to Indian food. I have given this restaurant a total of 7 times to taste different dishes and experiment with what they offer. My husband and I have complained multiple times about the food but they still don’t clean up their act. Quality– for instance, the basic yet popular delicious dishes in India such as daal and chole are a disgrace in this restaurant. No flavor, & it tastes pretty regular. For 12 bucks I was expecting a boom, I am in India eating this delicacy. But boom, I am still in America eating regular food. Indian food should be Indian! No way around it. You cannot alter the spices or cut corners here. My husband is a non-veg, he ate all the non-veg curries possible but ended up throwing all of them after the second bite(from the buffet) The naans are served burnt and hard Daal in several occasions was too salty or too bland.(NOTE: salty does not mean full of flavor. Flavor should come from aromatic spices which it also lacked in) Quantity– Last visit on sunday for our anniversary 3÷13÷16, We were suppose to eat in the buffet but they only had 2 veg options which looked awful so I ended up ordering aloo tikki and bhindi. Aloo tikki came with the most bland chole in the entire world. No depth, and an insult to Indian cuisine. Aloo tikki was decent though! The bhindi they brought the first time was extremely spicy that even with raita(yogurt) my eyes were about to fall out of my head(and trust me as a pakistani, I eat some heavily spiced food). I told them to remake it. Second time came around I had already eaten other stuff(aloo tikki, chole, naan and rice) so I took one bite and it was decent but a little on the oily side. I asked the guy to pack it up since the plate was barely untouched and it was $ 12 so I was definitely not leaving it behind. The guy takes it in the kitchen and brings it back in a bag. Shame on me because I did not check what was inside. Once I got home I noticed that they kept MOST of my bhindi and packed in the smallest container they have. When clearly I ONLY had ONE bite. So QUANTITY is also a NOGO. Stealing people’s food is not nice Service– was actually good. Very polite men and It’s not their fault. They are just following orders and serving what the owner provides. I guess all that money that people spend is directly going in the owners pocket because there has been NO improvement in the food. Oh yeah all what they serve is such as naans, rotis, and parathas etc… you can find them packaged at any indian grocery store for much cheaper. Look for the DEEP brand. Disappointing and embarrassing If I go to a restaurant And pay $$$$$ I expect quality and I expect it to be AUTHENTIC. I want you to make the dough for my rotis, naans, parathas etc. I need you to make me feel at home. There is no authenticity in any of the dishes except for the Mango lassi. And that is truly sad. Also, altering the taste of indian food, makes the food lose its definition in authenticity. Taste of INDIA should change their name to taste of PREPACKAGED American India. Yes American India because like I mentioned, the taste in the curries are altered(lack of aromatic spices). If you alter something, it doesn’t make it original right? I will have to pack the food I make at home and give it to the owner so he can see what a joke his food is. People save your extra money on this one and go to an indian store and get the frozen food because that is exactly what they do. You will save A LOT more money. I am going to make sure all of the restauranteurs are aware of this disappointing place so they can expose this mockery.

Favorite place for Indian buffet! The inside is beautiful and clean. The staff might or might not be nice, depends on what side of the bed they woke up on. As for the food, the vegetarian dishes are the absolute best. It had a few things other buffets didn’t have. If i remember correctly, they had eggplant and the others didn’t. That dish is probably my favorite so far. The other meat options and naan were pretty much like everywhere else. Still delicious.

Not a big hit for me. The food was good enough to eat, but not good enough to bring me back. We tried the buffet which was $ 15. The buffet did have a couple of items that I hadn’t seen another buffets, but it was a smaller size. On the plus side, it did seem clean and the naan was pretty good. Our server was pleasant enough, but not overly attentive. For the price I would definitely pick Spices of India or Zaika over coming here again.

I’m so happy I finally made it here! I have not been to this space since it was Ichiban, and I was pleasantly surprised by the updates. The space seems much bigger and lighter, yet it is still very cozy and intimate. The booths are very comfortable and give you plenty of room. The space has been split, and there is a banquet facility available in front. From what I saw, it looks like a gorgeous space. The service was impeccable. Our waiter was very friendly and patient as we poured over the immense menu. So many choices! He waited until our menus were closed to return, which I find to be a sign of an attentive waiter. We ended up ordering a sampler platter for an appetizer, garlic naan, Beef Curry and Chicken Vindaloo. The sampler platter was excellent. Their sampling of Tandoori Chicken made me wish I had ordered it as an entrée. Strips of white meat chicken marinated and cooked to perfection. The other standout was the samosas. So delicious and perfectly spiced! The Beef Curry was delicious. I would say it was a bit above the medium I ordered, but excellent overall. The Chicken Vindaloo fell a little short because it was more chunks of potato than actual chicken, but it was obviously cooked down quite a bit and the delicious flavors were very concentrated. Overall, this was an excellent meal, and I was very impressed!

This is by far my favorite place in Buffalo to get indian. Although I haven’t ventured to far from my favorite items such as chicken biriyani and of course the garlic naan, everything is at a great price and is beyond delicious. Order take out or sit down– a very cute place with great staff!

I love love love love this Indian restaurant! Has been my favorite for decades. They are Courteous, attentive and so polite. They have recently moved across the street on Sheridan to a fairly similar sized restaurant. I love the new look and if you haven’t tried Indian food before or just want to try out what they got, try their Taste of India special. It’s to die for. Also try their garlic Naan, reita(yogurt sauce excellent with their naan), their rice pudding and the Indian tea! They have a two sister companies one I believe on Harlem and the other is India gate on Elmwood. I also love their Elmwood location as well, plus the Elmwood village just rocks! They do take out, delivery with an outsourced meal cab(sorry can’t recall the name at the moment) or eat in.

Over the past few times I’ve come here, I’ve gradually begun to become a fan of this place. Taste of India has a very varied selection of food. They always have a soup on hand to go along with the fried fritters as well as the main trays. The buffet also includes chai, a good selection of pickles and chutneys as well as dessert. Naan is decent — it isn’t the best the city has to offer but it’s fresh and will satisfy your craving. Taste of India presents a solid Indian buffet with fresh ingredients. However, this establishment could work on its customer service. The wait staff was less than attentive on repetitive visits and I felt like I had to constantly ask for my water to be refilled or plates taken away. This was a bit frustrating.
