If you haven’t been to Eddie Brady’s in the past year or ever it’s certainly time to check out this Buffalo gem. I’ve always liked the casual laid back atmosphere. Recent remodeling updates in the past year or so really add to the value of this space. Several craft beers on draft but of course you can always get a bottle LBL and other«mainstream» beers. This place is super casual and that’s what is so great. Popcorn is free and quite addicting. There is a menu and kitchen is efficient and makes a great meal! So if you’re downtown and looking for a no fuss, care free hangout bar to catch up with friends — — this is the place for you.

When we came here this past weekend, I invited a friend who goes out in Buffalo frequently. Her reaction upon arrival was«I had no idea this place was here.» I’m guessing that the sentiment is shared by many Buffalonians. Eddie Brady’s is off the beaten paths of Chippewa and Allen, so it doesn’t get a huge amount of foot traffic. That means that it’s usually not too crowded, although it does manage to support a pretty sizable group of regulars. The draft selection is pretty good, featuring both domestic brews and a selection from local craft breweries. My visits here are usually late night, so I have yet to eat any actual food, but I’ve heard good things about the kitchen and will dine there eventually. There’s free popcorn at the back of the bar area and an electronic jukebox toward the front. Danny the bartender is awesome! Overall, Eddie Brady’s is a fun dive bar with a great crowd and laid-back atmosphere. You might just have to walk a little out of your way to enjoy it.

Best dive bar left in the city. Fun spot to come and have some drinks. The food is very good too. We actually went here before going to Toutant and this place left such an impression on us that we went back the next weekend for dinner. I had to fried bologna sandwich and it was delicious. Pat the owners brother is the Man. He is so nice and honestly appreciates your business. He comes up to you and honestly takes a interest in your life and wants to know everything about you. I love that about him and this place. Absolutely one of my go to spots in buffalo.

My fiancé works in the area and heard the fish fry here was amazing from many of his coworkers. I had not had a fish fry in years and so we decided to try it out for lunch today. The fish fry was AMAZING! it was breaded perfectly and had a nice light crunch. I normally do not like coleslaw but found their sweeter coleslaw delicious. The staff were all very friendly and the service was extremely fast. I am very glad to have stopped in here today and will most definitely be back. After reading some of the other reviews I have to say that this place certainly gives you a «homey» feel. I loved it the minute I stepped in. I only sat in the front area near the bar which was beautiful but now wish I had seen the rest of the place!

Recently attended a holiday get together here… what a great place! The food was delicious. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. As a first time visitor I was very impressed with the inside of the bar. The recent renovations look wonderful… the ladies restroom is what all bar restrooms should look like — but almost never do.

As someone who used to frequent this place often in college I was excited to go back to meet some friends there on a Friday night. Maybe because it has a ‘Cheers’ like atmosphere where everyone knows your name(or your friend’s/mom’s/cousin’s name) but it is great. I didn’t have a chance to get something to eat since we had just eaten but I am excited to go back and try some food which I heard is awesome. The inside has been completely redone and cleaned up but still maintained a friendly tavern feel. Great jukebox, friendly bartenders and a cool place to go and catch up with old friends(or anyone really). Cant beat it, this is a great buffalo bar.

Great happy hour, but a ghost-town by 11:00 pm. No snooty theme, but if ur Irish, it may help matters !

Let me start by sating that Eddie Brady’s did not spend 1.5Million on renovations. .they will not get you a Chef’s table aside the bar. and they will not special order Portuguese baby eels for your Non-GMO after drink snack. They will serve you drinks though. in a college style bar, with service(From Danny) that it always non-pretentious. and makes me come back, because this is the type of bar that I like. It’s a gin mill, darkish, with old popcorn, and pub food. the beer selection isn’t avant garde, but it isn’t advertised as such either. what they offer will do the trick, but if you’re looking for an escape from the fancy bar scene, and a place to relax and enjoy the simpler things. I find this place to be a great getaway. I can admit, I often won’t find myself here until about 230−3AM. but when I do show up, at such a late hour, I’m still greeted with a warm smile and a stiff drink. I feel if you can show up here without any pretense, you’ll leave a little more imbibed than you arrived.

«Dive bar» isn’t quite the right descriptor of Eddie Brady’s. Generally when we’re talking about dive bars, we’re talking about bars that are virtuous because of their utter lack of redeemable assets. We’re NOT talking about a place with great bones that’s being absurdly managed. SPACE: Eddie Brady’s inhabits a wonderfully quaint space on Genesee Street fellow lovers of architecture will no doubt love. The bar is old and lovely. The molding and the fine-textured ceiling afford the space an elegance you’ll elsewhere only find at the Hotel Lafayette and its ilk. Really, the space could be dolled up and turned into Prohibition Era chic in a heartbeat. Rather, dingy lighting. Rather, yard sale reject furniture. The space deserves so much more, could accomplish so much more in better hands. Wow. BEER: When you run out of a keg of beer on tap, the absolute tackiest thing you can do is to put a big cup over the top of the handle. This is a last resort. Ugh. Otherwise, the selection here is pitiful. Look, when the city is gravitating towards craft and microbrew offerings whether we’re talking about Niagara Street, Hamburg Street, Hamburg proper, Amherst, or wherever, there’s no excuse for having such an appalling selection of domestics. FOOD: My reason for entering here was to watch the World Cup while eating a cheap sandwich. If for some reason you are NOT serving ANY food(despite it being 6:30 on a Saturday!!!), you really need to TELL customers before they place a drinks order. Drinks are always served first, yes, but it being dinnertime on a weekend, it’s entirely possible that they want DINNER. MUSIC: I ventured in during the start of World Cup season. All over Buffalo, bars are showcasing World Cup action. They’re turning off their Pandora, their iPods, their jukeboxes, whatever, and ensuring that patrons get their fill of vuvuzelas, hooliganism, and announcers from who know where. Why on earth was this place pumping music I would only otherwise find at a rave? Oh, and did I mention that the bartender and I were the only two in the venue? That both of us were trying to watch the World Cup? ENFIN: I utilized the word«absurd» in my review not haphazardly but because I honestly cannot understand any of the decisions that led to the FUBAR that greeted me. I really cannot see any reason to revisit short of a visit from Kitchen Nightmares. 1 star for atmosphere 1 star for food 2 stars for drinks 1 star overall

Eddie Brady’s is a perfect dive bar. The bartenders and patrons make you feel like you’re at home. This bar has an interesting history and is a great place to stop in for a drink.

Visited to kill some time before I was going to see a band. Nice townie feeling bar. Seemed like a nice place to stop in for a drink or two. I’d go back if I was in the area again.

Housed in an old saddle and tack shop from civil war era… a basic old style neighborhood pub. Cheap drinks and beers bottled and tap. $ 6.00 grill selections. Thier cheeseburgers are WONDERFUL handmade cooked to order perfectly… no frozen pre formed«meat«here…such a great find! Service was very good and friendly. Only 3 or 4 tables and the bar to eat at though which is fine for it is a small pub. 6 draft beers and 2 large perfect cheese burger’s for $ 32.00!!! We will be back for sure!

Eddie has a a nice bar. He opened this Jewell of a pub /gin mill /dive right in shadow of all the confusion that is the«Chippewa experience». I think he lives above the place and makes the soup they serve… good soup. Drinks are basic, strong and reasonable in price. The bar and back bar is old wood. The back of the barroom leading to the rest rooms is an ally(now enclosed) from the early 20th century, with sign posts still attached to the brick walls… The building is circa: 1863. Most of the wall décor is vintage Iroquois beer signs and historic Buffalo framed prints. Eddie is a very tall, very big guy who mumbles alot… I like him! Basic, very good«griddle» bar fare is served at lunch on the week days and afterword. sometimes. Complex drinks are not a good choice. Our group needed 10 shots of something but only 8 shot glasses were available. The patio has a few tables on the street… I met some peeps from Toronto waiting for a Sabers game there once. They loved the beer prices and hospitality. A regular crowd regularly shuffles in… they are friendly, as are the barkeeps. An old style pub, close to but far away enough from the downtown action… Bluecollar style slurps… Pour me another Eddie !!!

I made my way into Eddie Brady’s last weekend after walking around my hood with a friend and searching for the perfect place to catch up and have a drink. Because it was Saturday night, Seabar was packed with a special event going on, and Chocolate bar was shoulder to shoulder. These were the two places I thought might be appropriate and fun for meeting with a friend around 930 to chat. I was wrong. The Chippewa nightclubs are not our scene, and we wanted to go somewhere where we could breathe. In those two places we were gasping for air. Well, like I said, we found our way to Eddie Brady’s, where we should have headed from the start. Located just a half of a block from my place, it worked out really well. I am glad we ended up here because it was the perfect atmosphere: a relaxed pub, a few heads, and open seats at the bar where a bartender was happily waiting to wait on us! He was super pleasant and friendly. I ordered a beer– there’s not that special of a selection or anything, but that’s fine with me. I just wanted a drink. Another thing that was really cool that happened was how while we were talking, The Shining was on BBC. Because everyone in the entire bar was commenting and watching, the bartender turned off the music, and turned up the volume of the tv nice and loudly so that we could all hear Shelly Duvall wimper and cry in fear of her psychotic husband. Good times! I am looking forward to going back here some night with friends for drinks, or to try their food one day for lunch.

Let me embarrass myself for a moment, by admitting that: I tried Eddy Brady’s…on a work night the night before a presentation… and got a diet pepsi and sandwiches to go… with a coupon. Although I’ve lived in Buffalo most of my life, I’m trying new(to me) places. Part of that is exploring the Buffalo First coupon book. I new Eddy Brady’s was a pub, but I could not have imagined how awkward(to me) my visit would be. I was that guy. I had my bag so I didn’t have to leave my laptop in the car, I checked email on my droid. Somehow, an ex-coworker was there with friends so I could at times fake belonging. I explained my situation to the bar tender, and he didn’t care. He just made me sandwiches — damn good ones. And he gave me a free soda. The menu is simple. It offers you a choice of sandwiches: Chicken, Italian Sausage, etc. They are cooked on a small bar-side grill(kinda like the Pink), and come with chips. I had the Italian Sausage, which was one of the best bar sandwiches ever. It was a thick moist sausage patty with spices, mild chiles, and cheese mixed in and topped with grilled peppers and onions on a sesame roll. The smell alone satiated my senses. I will be inclined to stop in too or from any trip downtown.

A great pub located off the beaten path of downtown Buffalo. I wish it was my local. Great sandwiches, beer, staff.
