An absolute gem. After 6 years of floundering in another program for autism, our son is thriving at SLDC. There are many reasons for his success, but perhaps what sets the school apart from every other program we’ve seen is a near ZERO staff turnover rate, due to excellent training, morale and an environment which nurtures not only the children but the adults who work with them. The other «just pinch me» quality we found here is the willingness of the school administration to work with us and not view parents as a nuisance they’d rather do without. The school operates with complete transparency — welcoming parents into the classroom and making themselves available and accessible. Students are treated with what I can only describe as grace: intelligence in each and every child is ASSUMED. And the school has the technology, creativity and drive to give its students the tools needed to communicate.
I can’t endorse SLDC strongly enough — and this is coming from a parent who, two years ago, had pretty much given up on finding an innovative program in Southern California. Thank you, SLDC.

I can’t believe that there are not more reviews on SLDC. I’ve been involved with this nonprofit special education school and therapy center since 2001 and I can’t think of a better school for kids with special needs. There’s a reason students are referred from more than 45 school districts. They really know what they’re doing!

SLDC is a great school for developmentally disabled children and young adults. Located near Knott’s Berry Farm, SLDC serves both the LA and Orange Counties. The staff is very professional and care very much about their students. I remember going here often when I was young (no, I wasn’t developmentally disabled) and I was very jealous of the students. They receive a lot of one on one teaching instruction and participate in fun activities. If you have or know someone who’s child would benefit from a structured, friendly and caring learning environment, look into SLDC.
