Love’s

Made a quick pit stop on my way to Arizona. Gas was very reasonable, bathrooms were clean and service was friendly.

No, no, no, no, no, no…
Enough said! No! Unfortunately, i like to ramble, so I will add more. :)
We stopped her for the chicken after driving nonstop from San Diego. We have a deep love for fried chicken (and heart attacks) so were eager to give Chesters a try.
When we sat down to begin eating we were first struck by the smell, it didn’t have that delicious artery clogging fried smell we look forward too, instead it was very burnt. I think either the oil was burnt, or old, or old and burnt, or old and burnt and not really oil. Either way, i feel this place owes chickens everywhere an apology. These chickens died for NOTHING. We took a couple bites and tossed the chicken. The potato wedges were so thick, unseasoned and clearly fried in the same old, burnt, not really oil, oil as the chicken. I am vaguely aware there was a biscuit with our meal, but wasn’t going to risk the disappointment.

Great people watching… where else can you get gas, fried corn, antifreeze, a walking cane and take a shower? Drove up here in a luxury sedan and you would have thought we were Obama or something… every freak in a 5 block radius watched us as we when inside and if the ones outside were creepy enough, the ones inside were especially nuts. Grab a chair… a drink and a snack so you can watch the freakshow. Wildly entertaining…

It is really sad that I have to write this negative review over two lousy pieces of chicken! Tonight, my husband ordered a 4 piece chicken dinner from Chester’s inside of this Love’s. When he got home, he opened the bag and there was only 2 pieces of chicken in the bag, so he called to speak with a manager (Jason) and told him about the issue. Jason asked for the ticket number on the receipt and said he would call back in a few minutes. He called back a few minutes later and said he reviewed the security tapes and the clerk did put 4 pieces of chicken in the bag so they would not be making good on our shorted order.
Really? First of all, there were only 2 pieces of chicken in the bag when we got home, not 4. There is no way he looked at a security tape and saw 4 pieces placed in the bag because there were only 2 when we got home and the chicken thief fairy was no where near our vehicle on the way home. I am blown away that this place will risk losing a customer over 2 pieces of chicken!
We visit this Love’s at least 3 times a week and spend at least $ 100 a week on gas, food, and sundries. This means we spend at least $ 5600 a year at this Love’s. We are not some young, indigent punks trying to score a free meal, we are a financially established, middle-​aged couple who would not waste our time or effort trying to score 2 free pieces of chicken when it takes us 15 minutes to drive back to retrieve it, hence spending more money on gas than the cost of the missing chicken! The fact that the manager could not figure this out is beyond me.
We will NEVER go back there again for anything. I refuse to patronize an establishment that does not stand by their customer’s and essentially calls my husband a liar by saying he will not amend our shorted order because he watched the clerk place 4 pieces of chicken in a bag when he clearly DID NOT, because there were only 2 pieces in the bag. I really hope it was worth it for them! It is really not about the chicken, it is the principle behind the whole ordeal.

Good Love’s. Been here several times. Big rig parking is a little tight so get here early! Showers are clean and there’s Subway and Chester’s. :)

this location is a truck stop… in AZ, it was clean, and well managed.
much better than other gas station and rest areas along the 10.
plenty of area to «stretch your legs» or just browse a few gift shops.

Love’s has everything you could possibly need on a road trip. Cheap gas, tons of drink choices, a bunch of options for grub! I knocked down the stars a bit for this particular location because the bathroom was not that clean compared to some spotless Love’s bathrooms I have seen in the past.

My band Hero’s Last Mission stopped here to get a late night sandwich from Subway. Let me start by saying the Loves is great! They had everything to curb out late night sweet tooths. But on this particular night we wanted Subway. The guy making the sandwiches was absolutely the worst sandwich maker ever. As soon as we walked up he rolled his eyes as if we were inconveniencing his life. Then he proceeded to take his sweet time and completely messed up my sandwich! Normally I would have been kinda mad, but this dude was so ridiculous and horrible it was almost comical! Haha! Anywho, the sandwich was alright, but heed my warning, if you are a late night sandwich fan, beware of the miserable sandwich maker!

This is going into my I-​10 collection. I get out of town and always stop somewhere between Buckeye and Tonopah for that break before the long push to Quartzsite. I frequently rent a few ounces of coffee here too.
A traveler can find a bit of anything at Love’s because Love’s is designed for people making a living and living on the road. I don’t recall buying Arizona souvenirs or Ayyam-​i-​ha gifts here, I have found decently price fuel, cell phone charger cords and antennas, coffee (of course), bananas, burgers, water, candy, sit-​down sandwiches, salad bars and entrees, and other items.
Love’s may be over-​loved. It’s often crowded, and the rest rooms may sometimes be a little off for the over-​discerning, ever-​loving and watchful mom. I’ve noticed how important clean rest rooms are to moms and others. But I’ve danced in Bouse, refuse to toss personal liquids in roadside water jugs and have been known, in locations unseen by camera or human, to water the desert sands. Love’s is fine by me.
