I had dinner at Tango on a Saturday night in February around 7:00. Service was fine, and our group of 5 waited less than 5 minutes for a table. Our table wasn’t in the main dining room, but in a weird side room sort of near the kitchen. The main restaurant wasn’t crowded and I don’t know why we were so far out of the way, but that hardly matters. To start our group shared the chips and guac, which were pretty good. The chips were a tad stale, but you couldn’t tell with the guacamole. I ordered the NY Strip medium rare as my entrée. It was a overcooked for my medium rare, and there was a strange cheese sauce on it that tasted burned and disgusting. I kept eating it to see if there was a better tasting part, but alas this was to no avail. What saved it was the side of mashed potatoes and broccoli which were both great. The portion was good for the price($ 28) but as I said, this steak was BAD. I know steak; I worked at a very successful steakhouse for 7 years in Connecticut. My friend ordered the filet mignon, which I wish I had ordered!!! The filet was perfectly cooked, juicy, and full of flavor. The Bearnaise that came on the side was mouthwatering! I’m getting hungry just thinking about it. I turned to dessert in order to get the horrible taste of my steak out of my mouth, and Tango did not disappoint. I ordered the Warm Granny Smith Apple tart which was probably the most delicious dessert I have ever had. The crust was the perfect blend of crisp and soft and flaky. The tart came with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, which I didn’t eat. The tart was perfect on its own. The wine selection is vast and impressive for an area where most restaurants are BYOB. I started off the meal with with strawberry margarita, which was great and they even used pink Himalayan salt on the rim which was fun! Overall, this upscale restaurant in Bryn Mawr town is worth the price. The restaurant itself is nice and comfortable, and the wait staff friendly, attentive, and helpful. I am looking forward to my next visit here. I’d do 4.5 stars if I could. Everything about my experience was great except my entrée.

Food was good but as soon as I was seated a mouse ran under a booth not even a foot away from me. A couple minutes late the waitress found a fly in my drink. Disappointed and turned off. Won’t be returning here again.

I had a lovely lunch time experience at this restaurant! My meal was delicious, and the waitress was attentive and very friendly. Tango has a romantic and intimate atmosphere. Its warm and welcoming. I do recommend Tango for special or casual occasions.

Now normally this is my favorite spot on the main line. I took my wife there last night for dinner and let me tell you it was the worst experience we’ve had there. The waitress was very slow. Seemed confused. But the real issue was my wife’s dinner. She ordered the lobster ravioli which was on the specials menu. The meal took 50 mins to come out and they were frozen raviolis that were under cooked and just covered in an imitation lobster meat sauce. I was in such disbelief to see a place like tango would charge $ 30 for a dish of frozen pasta and fake lobster. I’ll be back but I’ll never order that dish again and I suggest anyone to do the same

We had a lovely evening here. The atmosphere is very pretty and the service was great. Food was good but not excellent but I would go back. The setting is in an old train station and is very charming. Prices were moderate. The salmon I had was very good.

Two stars may be generous for this place. I can’t comprehend a the five star reviews. A group of 8 of us went for lunch today. We were meeting family from out of town. The first surprising part was that we sat down at 1 and didn’t have any drinks until 1:45. I had my daughter that just turned 3 along so she was getting obviously impatient. We asked what beers they had on tap and were surprised to hear they had mad elf(very out of season). It’s my wife’s favorite but she can’t have much right now. So I ordered one that easy she could have a taste. This was a mistake. It obviously has been on tap since it was in session. The mad elf was completely 100% flat and very very stale. I sent it back and they really need to pull that keg out of the line up. I ordered chicken fingers and fruit for my daughter and the quiche for me. Her chicken fingers were what you would expect. Though the fruit was not good at all. The quiche was awful. Obviously frozen and microwaved. It was warm in spots and cold in others. The crust was soft and mushy. The salad that came with it must have been dressed hours earlier as it was too soggy and gross to even eat. My wife had a burrito that was completely bland. We all were playing pass the salt and pepper a lot. Ask the food lacked any flavor. All in all it took over two hours to have a basic lunch. Restrooms and seating was clean but the entrance way was just plain neglected. Time for new management at the very least. We will not be returning.

This place was not only immensely disappointing food-wise, it was also super inefficient and disorganized at the same time, with the result being that we ended up spending nearly 2 hours there for brunch when it should have taken one hour max. First, it took 20 minutes for the single waiter to take our order at 12:30 noon on a Sunday. When you open for brunch, you should have enough staff to properly serve brunch. Then, the same waiter forgot to put in our order so when we asked about 40 minutes later for an update on the food, and he said he’d check, and then the food comes out piping hot ten minutes later… it was more than a little annoying. Finally, it took at least another 20 minutes for him to bring us the check, pick up the credit card, and bring the check back. The worst part wasn’t even that we had an infant with us, which made this ordeal all the more tiring. The worst part was that the food is total crap. It literally is diner food in a fancy setting at double the price. I could not believe the breakfast burrito they serve and have the gall to charge $ 13 for. Or the«fruit pancakes» which were literally box pancakes with a small cup of old grapes on the side. The juice was out of a box, and the coffee was mediocre. The prices are truly inflated and definitely not matching the low quality of the food. Also, they brought out the wrong food for one of us, resulting in an even longer delay. To be fair, they did take 20% off our bill as a tacit acknowledgement of the serious mistakes and delays made in serving us, but the fact that no one even mentioned it or apologized directly for such a long wait was really unacceptable. You can’t just keep a family with a young baby waiting for over an hour and a half and not say anything about it… We gave the waiter a normal tip as we don’t like to punish waiters for poor restaurant management, but the people running this place really need to get their sh*t together… You’ve been warned — do not go here for food. We certainly won’t be going again.

What used to be my favorite main line dinner spot is far from excellent now. Tango has spiraled off the dance card. They still pack in the patrons, and it still is one the most inviting decors around. The train station vibe is great, and the bar is a good place for a cocktail. The wait staff is gruff and exasperated by everything, they do not care and seemingly swing by only to see if you are properly dissapointed. The bread they bring out is an assortment of rolls not unlike what you might accumulate on a visit to wawa. Sweet butter and bland rolls. But the real descent into mediocrity has occurred with the entrees. I would have sworn up and down that Tango had some of the most creative and well executed enterees in the past 10 visits. Four of us ate there on a Saturday night around 8 pm My filet mignon was horryfying, it was without doubt a reheat. The reduction was disgusting, not fully reduced and filled with olive oil. The combination of overcooked shoe leather and oily vinegar was too much to stomach. This is the king of cuts, a tender filet, and the reduction should be almost sticky and savory. Instead it was cold. meat that had already started to breakdown. Even with a medium well order, any restaraunt understands that means well on the outside medium inside. This was a very expensive pjece of trash. My friends jumbalya included some sea creatures that«fought back» on the way down. He was happy with the spicy broth but began to look peaky half way through. His wifes shrimp linguini dish almost turned her stomach. Cold and the frozen shrimp were junk. People often make excuses, «lts busy» or «its the end of the night» I dont buy that crap. I paid my $$$. $$ and expect palatable food at least. No one asked if we liked it until it was over. The half finished plates should have said something about that. I looked the fool for raving about tango and then having such an all around failure. Even the cabernet by the glass was turning. Sorry for the fans, they still have good soups here and the place has great ambiance. There was a time when it was my favorite, now it is akin to slap in the mouth.:(

I’ve been coming to this place for years now and I always get burger and fries. Very average food but I do like their fries and fish. The staff is friendly so it’s great. The ambience is dark and gloomy but it’s great for dinners. The price is moderate but it’s the mainline so it’s not surprising. You still get your money’s worth.

Had dinner at Tango last night and I was thoroughly impressed. Bill our server provided detailed explanations to our menu related questions. My guest ordered the salmon and she said it was great. I ordered the lamb chops and I was blown away. Cooked to perfection and the sauce was amazing. The presentation on the plate with spinach and potatoes looked like it was on a cover of a magazine. Hooray to Bill and hooray to Tango!

My boss and I dined here for lunch earlier this week. It was a little tricky to find(our GPS got confused), and you enter the parking lot at an odd angle, but there was still ample parking around Noon. As others have mentioned, it is located along the train tracks, so there are brief intervals of noisy rumblings. Nothing to be alarmed about. Inside is quite pretty, and we were promptly greeted with a smile and seated right away. My boss started with the Cream of Mushroom soup(which I tasted) and I went with the Mexican Chicken Spring Rolls(which she tasted). For our meals, she got the Grilled Rainbow Trout; our server graciously allowed her to substitute risotto for the Spanish rice. I got the Sauteed Scallops with risotto. For dessert we ordered the Warm Chocolate Glazed Chocolate Bundt Cake. Overall, the quality and presentation of everything was excellent. Temperatures were perfect, and textures were spot on. The flavors… were ALMOST there. I found everything to be slightly on the bland side, as if it needed just a hint of salt. There was definitely potential for everything to be amazing, but I really think it was all just«good.» I did enjoy the dessert quite a bit. Not too sweet, and the raspberry ice cream complemented the warm chocolate cake perfectly. It was also topped with the biggest blueberry I’ve ever seen! I would probably eat here again if given the opportunity, though it would not be my first choice.

Tango is a reasonably large restaurant in Bryn Mawr, right off the main street. The location is convenient to local shops and the movie theater, and their is ample parking in the area. The food is American, with global influences, and they have a full bar. The ambiance is upscale casual, and they have several dining rooms, so it’s a good place for larger groups as well as smaller ones. The menu is fairly large, and has a variety of appetizers, salads, soups, and meat and fish selections. We enjoyed a charcuterie platter, a soup, as well as the lobster ravioli. Everything was cooked nicely, and we finished in time for our movie. Seems to be a solid location that was very busy the night we dined, which is always a good sign. The service was average, and could have been a little more attentive, but nothing of great concern.

I’ve eaten there before and had good experiences. Not so last night. Every single portion of the meal was wrong. Food came out cold, under cooked, etc. I ordered the rainbow trout, thinking it was a healthy choice. It was swimming in oil. Disaster.

My sister had her rehearsal dinner tonight at Tango and it was fantastic. The food was delicious and the service was impeccable. It reminded me of Tango as it was 10 – 15 years ago.

Food was good but service and bartenders beyond disappointing. Drove from Wilmington, De. Never again! Sorry to bother you all… Apparently the world falls apart on Parents weekend for Villanova… You need to sell your first born son to get a drink or menu. Sat at bar for dinner and had to share one menu between the four of us all the while sat a pile of menus behind the bar. No worries, you won’t find us inconveniencing you again… EVER.

I recently went to Tango for lunch on a weekend. The server was very attentive at first. I ordered a delicious burrito. All went well, but once the entrees were served, we didn’t see the server again for a long time. We waited 20 minutes after finishing the meal and didn’t see him at all to ask for the check. This has happened in the past at Tango: great service to start with, then a lack of service to conclude. This time the restaurant was anything but busy, as there were few other diners. If this lack of service happens again, I won’t be returning to Tango regardless of the good food.

Let me start by saying that the food was good. It was fresh, prepared well and had good seasoning. However, the rest of the restaurant left much to be desired. I had a reservation for a party of 10 for a celebration but after 20 minutes of waiting for our«reserved» table, without an apology, we asked to be seated at a table that had been open since our arrival. We were quickly seated but I would have expected the front desk staff to have been a little more friendly and aware of the seating possibilities. The service was slow and poor. The waiter broke the cork into an expensive bottle of wine, again, without an apology or offer to cancel the corkage fee. The bread was promised multiple times and the waiter flat out lied to the table to cover his butt for forgetting food items –he was called out on it, embarrassed and then didn’t engage with the table the rest of the night. My water glass was empty before the appetizers came and was never refilled. For the amount of money it costs to eat here, I really was hoping for a better experience. However, based on the service I would not recommend the restaurant. You would likely have a better time just eating at the bar, if you don’t mind the very loud acoustics of the restaurant.

Excellent service. We were with a difficult older friend who kept requesting special things from the waitress. She was truly a saint. This was my second visit here and the food was better the first time. The fried calamari was lightly fried and tasteless. The one dipping sauce was sweet and did not help the missing flavor of the calamari. Our wonderful waitress warned me that the jambalaya is spicy, but I ordered it anyway. It did not look that appetizing, but was very good. The chicken, scallops, shrimp, calamari and sausage were cooked perfectly. Often jambalaya will have over cooked seafood. I would order it again. A great location adjacent to the Bryn Mawr train station.

Holy copious menu choices, Batman! I came here with my parents, brother, and his fiancée this past weekend for a dinner/to check it out as a potential rehearsal dinner venue. It was altogether a very pleasant experience, if not an extraordinary one. My biggest impression was that there were SO many choices. They have a sizable regular menu, plus a king daily specials menu as well, which made choosing pretty difficult. We began with some appetizers. The first was the Mexican spring rolls(soooo yummy, but sadly only included included 2 tiny rolls, which we split into bite size pieces.) second was the ahi tuna, which was good but nothing spectacular. We also got the spinach and artichoke dip which came with pita pieces and nachos and was delicious. Complimentary bread with a oil/cheesy dip was a nice addition. All of my dining companions got fish dishes for entrees(salmon, crab cakes, and scallops, respectively), and only the scallops were declared subpar. The crab cakes came with sweet potato fries and a delectable maple sauce. I had a chicken quesadilla, which was good and a nice portion size, if nothing to write home about. We were all stuffed, so we didn’t partake of dessert. At the end of the meal, we asked the waitress about renting a room there, and she was very helpful. She also had one of the owners come over to chat with us, and he was friendly and helpful, as well. Final note: the inside is very cool – old fashioned and dark. It wasn’t too loud either, which is always a plus. Overall, a very good meal!

Love having Tango so close to home. The atmosphere is fantastic and the food and service follows suit. Nestled up against the tracks of the R5, they have a back room that is designed to resemble a train car. Pretty nifty. The main dining area also has a good vibe. Open, high ceilings, a rough industrial look to it with painted ceilings\vents, tasteful artwork and I love love love the natural look to the«unfinished» walls. It’s great when I have people in from out of town and want to grab a quick, convenient bite at a nice upscale restaurant right in town! It is a bit pricey, but that comes with the location! For example… a burger is 15 bucks and I couldn’t imagine eating brunch here on a Sunday morning as I could feed a small orphanage at Denny’s for a few dollars more. But to treat ourselves to something special without having to go into the city this place is great! I would probably go here more often if the menu wasn’t so fishy… The previous restaurant here was called Lewis and Clark’s and the menu was meatier! But Tango has a filet and a strip steak and I can usually find something on the MEAT menu or a special that didn’t come from the sea… The desserts are pretty good here too… We almost always get the molten chocolate cake, but it wasn’t on the menu for restaurant week this year so we got the Apple Bread Pudding and it did not disappoint! Tango also has outdoor seating in nice weather, as well as several different«party rooms» available if you need some privacy or have an event. The bathrooms here are top notch! Clean, well lit, nice faucets etc.
