This is a small quiet museum. Perfect for perusing the history of Texas. Some beautiful fossil specimens and lovely covered wagon. The staff is generous with their information and are open to answering any questions you may have. Cool and still this museum, though small, is worth a visit.

Great place to take your kid or browse around yourself. This is a small museum with some very interesting exhibits that will appeal to kids. I took my son and he loved the dinosaur bones and the old west exhibit. They have a room with a few snakes and turtles in terrariums. Lots of books and toys for kids to play with and learn from. Folks who run the place are real friendly and knowledgeable.

We did a birthday party here for a group of 3 – 5 year olds. It was pitch perfect! They provided invitations. We showed up. The kids roamed around the museum for around 15 minutes until most of the guests had shown up. Then the museum host gave a little interactive lecture on dinosaurs with lots of great visual aids. She was wonderful– she accurately judged the kids’ knowledge of dinosaurs(which is much more than the parents’) and didn’t talk down to them or over their heads and the kids oohed and aahed. After that, she gave them a tour of the dinosaur artifacts on display and pointed out the things she’d been talking about. Then they went outside and carefully unearthed«fossils» from buckets of sand. Back inside for a bathroom break, hand-washing, and pizza(that we provided). Then they made dinosaur puppets and went on a scavenger hunt. Finally cake(we provided, but they can provide) and present opening, ending with goody bags(they provided). They easily adjusted to last-minute guest additions. Everything went smoothly. The kids had a great time. I can’t believe how little it all cost given how much value we got from the experience. They have a number of choices besides dinosaurs for activities. We may have to do this again next year with another feature animal.
