Do yourself and your family a favor and stay away from this place.
They don’t stand by their products, they don’t honor their «warranties,» and they don’t understand customer service. I bought a set of 60k mile tires from J&M that were thoroughly shot before they had 30k miles on them. I went back the shop to see what kind of warranty they had and was basically told by the shop manager that this was normal wear and that I should have had the tires rotated more often! I have my tires rotated with every oil change at around 3000 – 4000 miles.
I should have known there was something wrong with this place when I first got the tires. After the first week one tire had developed a slow leak. They said there was a nail in it and «repaired» it. The next morning the tire was completely flat. The slow leak became a fast leak, thanks J&M. So they replace the tire, but never balanced it. I didn’t realize it until I had the car up to 60 mph and it felt like the steering wheel would shake out of my hand. By that time I had enough of these clowns and took my car to a qualified mechanic.

My first experience with J&M was a few years ago when some Broomall punks slashed a G-​Force tire on my Mustang. I took the wheel of and rolled it right down to J&M since they are REALLY close to my house. Thankfully they had the tire in stock and mounted and balanced it in about 30min. I wheeled the tire back home and put it on my Mustang and I was ready to rock
I now own a Buick Regal GS, and the car came with Pirelli P-​Zero summer rated tires. I didn’t realize how bad summer tires actually were in the winter. Last winter, we had snow like every week and it was suicidal to drive with these tires in the snow. I figured a good All-​Season Tire would be best for me so I wouldn’t have to change them every season. After doing MUCH research on high performance All-​Season tires that would be good in snow I decided on Continental Extreme Contact DWS Tires.
I called J&M and spoke to a very nice man on the phone. He said they didn’t have the tires in stock but they could be ordered and there in a few days. I gave him a credit card number and he ordered the tires for me. I got a call a few days later and dropped my car off to have the tires installed. Came back to pick up my car, and I was good to go. My Buick is like a new car now, handles like it has AWD in the snow! I love how they also gave me free tire rotation for the life of the tires. Its a nice touch, and since they’re only a few blocks from my house I’ll definitely take them up on that offer.
Bottom line, could I have gotten the tires cheaper on Tire
Of course! But did I want to deal with the hassle of lugging 4 tires over to J&M? NO! Both times they were prompt and professional! What more could one ask in a tire place?

I never should have stopped going to J+M!
I used to go to J+M for my inspections every year. I then saw that Tires etc on Baltimore Pike had (at the time) a much cheaper inspection rate. My mistake! See my reviews on Tires etc for more details.
Anyway, I am now back at J+M and couldn’t be happier. They may not be the cheapest place out there, but you definitely get what you pay for. I am confident that they ACTUALLY inspect your vehicle for safety inspections and will let you know if there is an issue. (Unlike Tires etc)
The guys at J+M are very friendly. They do not push unnecessary services.
My only real complaint is that they tend not to call you until right before they close to tell you that your vehicle is ready no matter how small the job was, or how early you dropped it off.

My husband called these guys this morning because one of our tires started leaking during the weekend. I wouldn’t be able to take the vehicle in until 10:30. They said they would be busy but I should call ahead and they could let me know about the wait.
I called about 10:20 and explained that my husband had called, could they let me know if it was better to come right then or another time. I was put on hold. After several minutes a different man picked up. I explained that I had been put on hold, my husband called earlier, and I was just waiting to know if it was a good time to come in or if I should come later.
He became very defensive and rude. He denied talking to my husband earlier in the day and claimed he only came in 10 minutes earlier. He said the first man I spoke to just arrived five minutes earlier and that no one was there before that. Unilocal says they open at 8 AM.
The whole thing was bizarre. He wouldn’t tell me if I should come in, just kept saying that no one had been there to speak with my husband. Okay, I’ll just go to a tire center with higher ratings, who knows whether they can fit me in, and can handle customer service. I went to Mr. Tire nearby and had my tire patched immediately and had an amazing experience with them.

Did not live up to brake warranty. Brakes were grinding after a few months and
J&M claimed nothing wrong. I couldn’t take the noise anymore
and had it checked elsewhere. Results: Cheap pads
Had them replaced (I paid for them)
QUIET QUIET QUIET

Automotive things are kind of intimidating for me. Whenever I go to a Pep Boys or other big chain, it seems like I end up talking to some young guy who really lacks that much desired compassion for my vehicle’s plight. Not so at J&M Tires. They are prompt and courteous and above all, relaxed, which is incredibly reassuring. They’ve been able to order the tires I need on two separate occasions and have them in in a day or two. I think the prices are very reasonable and the service is prompt. What I love about this place is that when you call them, they always answer the phone, and they all know what they’re talking about. I’ve never felt rushed or worried about whether they really heard what I was saying. It’s great!
What’s even better about this place is the waiting room. It’s large and full of books, couches, a television, and even children’s playthings. When I say it’s full of books, I mean it — an entire wall is full of worn novels that are there for anyone to read. I started reading the novel «Roots» recently, and was told to take it with me if I enjoyed it — and the wonderful woman who told me this even figured out what book I had started before! It’s incredibly relaxing to be there and I have found that instead of dreading having to bring my car in, I look forward to it! It’s like being in a family living room.
I know that this is supposed to be a review about tires, but come on — if a tire is a tire, a little ambiance doesn’t hurt, does it?

Tired (get it, Tire-​d) of getting ripped-​off by Tires Plus, Pep Boys, and other large chain tire places? Well then call J & M Discount Tire for a quote. Their prices include everything (mounting, balancing, etc.). There will be no surprises or stem fees. And, no doubt from my experiences with J & M, the price will be better than you’ll find elsewhere, even at Costco. And tires from J & M come with free rotation, for the life of the tires.
