US Post Office

NO 1 CURR but this is my post office and it is hands down the worst. Returning packages to sender without even attempting to deliver because they feel understaffed. One package went back to Australia. They claim to have left my two year old’s birthday present of a tea set «in mailbox» which must have been tricky since the mailbox is smaller than a shoebox. This place has cost me way too much money and time for a service provider. Burn it down and start over. (not literally but please start over)

I know this is USPS and NOT A THING WE HAVE TO SAY MATTERS AT ALL. But I need to say this or I will have to fucking die in my sleep.
So, basically, whoever sits behind that pathetic window MAKES THE RULES. They can deny, accept, hold your mail, not ship your package etc depending on how helpful they want to be that day and this is 100% FACT.
These are adults with full time jobs with benefits, they get to sit on their asses in their little safe cage with no sense of integrity or responsibilities. They know no matter how loud you scream, how mad you get, they don’t actually have to care, because they are used to their easy fucking life sitting around like pigs and ALWAYS getting away with it.
Your kids and family should be embarrassed of how little you actually work for the people you were hired to work for.
You abuse your rights as union workers, you’re crooks and incompetent losers. I feel genuinely bad for the people who have to stand on line for 30 – 40 minutes because there is only one person working at the window. But then again, they don’t care.
Your stupid little fucked up heads can’t seem to understand this, it’s almost like they’re begging you to just pay more at UPS for easier service.
So fuck you all. I hope you all lose your fucking jobs because you sure don’t deserve them.
That Chinese guy who works at this location, WINNY or whatever the fuck your name is — someone please punch him through his face for me. I will pay for your package at UPS.

Update, I called the 1800−275−8777 and filed a complaint. Let’s make this Post Office much better and trustworthy!
It’s the second time now that my package is missing. I get an email saying that they left a ‘sorry we missed you slip’ but there was nothing there and I was home. Last time my package ‘disappeared’ I went to the post office to pick it up but after a long waiting they said it was nowhere to be found so I had to contact amazon to get it reordered. File this petition to change this post office to the better!

SAME REVIEW: THIEVES!!! This is the FOURTH time a large and expensive package has mysteriously been delivered but in actuality disappeared. After calling the main post office number (don’t bother calling the local number – they pick up and hang up on you or send you directly to fax) and holding on this line for 50 minutes two separate times, I have been told we all need to open formal complaints with the USPS Consumer Affairs Division. Call 877-​ask-​usps and ask for customer service. It will be another hour of your life wasted due to the incompetence of this place but at least you can do it in the comfort of your home instead of hours spent at this hell hole. Get a CA number issued. The rep said this is the best way we can really get this place to shape up. STOP STEALING OUR PACKAGES!!!

I’d been good at avoiding this place except someone recently sent a package to my home instead of my office. Since this post office will never make any effort to redeliver anything (or even deliver the first time), I took my pink slip and began the slow, regrettable journey to the Worst Post Office in the World.
I had a real Jekyll/​Hyde experience here picking up my package from a woman who was sweet as could be and then dealing with different woman who yelled at me for not writing the address on a package I needed delivered. The big surprise was someone here actually giving a crap about their job and being nice for once because I always expect everybody here to be outwardly irate/​indifferent to customers all of the time.
Best thing you can do is avoid ever having to go here.

If an employee or manager happens to see this review… seriously guys, call an internal meeting and figure things out. This place is a complete malfunctioning shit show every *single* time I come. I dread having to come. Getting a «missed package» slip or needing to restock on stamps is like realizing you’ve been cursed. It doesn’t matter if it’s a Saturday morning or a Thursday afternoon, the line is out the door, there’s 1 window open, the employee is miserable (and is determined to make customers feel ALL their pain) and you’re going to be stuck waiting in this hell hole for way, WAY too long.
Also there is no self service machine so you’re at the mercy of «the system». Honestly, something needs to be done here. I’m looking into a 1 – 800 # to call because complaining on Unilocal might warn other customers but it won’t fix this place’s backwards organization.
On the plus side you strike up a bond realllly quick with your fellow line waiters. What’s that phrase? «Misery breeds company»? Or maybe it’s «Misery breeds revolt»?

Can I give this zero stars?
Bring. A. Book.

Filed a complaint today, I would recommend everyone do the same. Worth a shot.
Call 1800 275 8777 and say «File a Complaint» (and then speak with an operator). Then file a verbal complaint against the post office.

I recently saw a review comparing this place to the SOUP NAZI on Seinfeld, but only for services rendered for an entire zipcode (11 216)! And another review that said «There IS a God and he HATES you because THIS is your post office!» I spend a lot of time dealing with the mail here (I buy and sell a lot of stuff and have always used the USPS) so here are a few tips if you are having a problem with mail not being delivered and notices not being left.
First of all, don’t even try calling this place. No one answers the phone, and if someone accidentally does they realize they have made a mistake and put you on hold indefinitely. Don’t do it, no way. You are going to have to walk there. If you don’t get there at least 15 minutes before it opens at 9am you are looking at a line of 6 – 12 people. If you get there after 9am the line could be out the door. The dude behind the window is going to want your ID and your address. He isn’t interested in talking to you or hearing your problems. He KNOWS why you are there, he has dealt with literally THOUSANDS of lost packages and notices not left over the years and chances are he is friends with the people who perpetrate the acts. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if he and they get some kind of perverse enjoyment out of watching you squirm. So, hand him your ID and give him your address and cross your fingers and pray the soup Nazi deigns to give you your soup! Have a tracking number if you got one but don’t offer it unless he says it is not there. Then and ONLY then can you show him the tracking number and say «But the tracking number says it is here.» He might be moved to go look again and magically find it. Chances are 50 – 50 on that one.
But whatever you do, DON’T leave hand written messages for the mailman to «Leave the package» or «Please ring the bell for #3 because I am always here» they will be ignored. Your mailman lives in a bizarro world where up is down and light is perpetual darkness. And finally, here is a Pro-​Tip for the wise and brave. Do NOT get registered mail or anything that you have to sign for! Just have it sent the cheapest, simplest way possible (media mail). ESPECIALLY if it is something important – I know, I know, you are thinking «What the Hell?!» The reason is because if you have to SIGN for something that takes the mail carriers TIME and there is not effing way that is going to happen, and what, leave a notice it arrived but it is back at the PO waiting for you? NO effing way on that! If you have the huevos and you want to roll the dice, then have that rare antique heirloom shipped to you 1^st class with insurance yes, but not registered or with any kind of signature confirmation. WHY? cuz that package is gonna get «Lost» and sent back to the sender (Best case scenario) or «Lost» and on the mantle of some lucky PO worker (worst case scenario). And whatever you do, do NOT, I repeat DO NOT confront your mailman about any of this. As with the infamous Soup Nazi, there are tales of destinations being surreptitiously «blacklisted» and then never receiving their mail again!

This place is a joke. Total incompetence all around. They will not answer the phone, they are rude and they do not leave a slip when you’ve «missed» a delivery. Never a good experience here.

I’ve never had an issue with the United States Postal Service until I moved to this area. The special people who work for this branch have lost/​stolen nearly 100% of my packages. Whenever something is shipped to me via USPS, I know it’s going to be lost/​stolen and might as well immediately file a claim.
The one time my tracking actually said available for pickup, due to a supposed missed delivery, I spent AN HOUR AND A HALF waiting in line only to be told it couldn’t be found. I was told I’d get a call regarding the package but never did. None of this came as a surprise to me, as they have lost/​stolen (probably the latter) nearly all of my packages. The real surprise came when I noticed people were waiting just to exit the building, as they had locked us all in. Pretty sure that’s illegal. So after waiting all that time for nothing, I had to wait longer just so I could leave.
This place doesn’t deserve the single star I’m forced to give it. I’m writing this as yet another package is «Out for delivery» at 20:00. I’m sure it’ll be here soon…

Literally the worst post office. Awful customer service and they don’t follow their office hours at all. Closed on a Saturday at 2:00 right be for Christmas. Awful!

Impossible to get a hold of on the phone. I shouldn’t be getting a busy signal every time I call. All I need to know is where my package is that was supposed to be delivered a week ago. Shouldn’t be that hard to answer a phone and give me an answer.

Wednesday afternoon my friend Jim, the one with the ghetto pass, and I were super bummed about Ukrainian separatists capturing the key rail hub of Debaltseve, so we scored some MDMA and headed to the Brevoort Station U.S. Post Office in Bed-​Stuy. This post office is old school. You might remember it from such classic Spike Lee works as Do The Right Thing, She’s Gotta Have It, and Mountain Dew commercial starring Mo’né Davis. The place screams early 90s street authenticity, from the Keith Haring mural in the bathroom to the fresh sounds of A Tribe Called Quest and De La Soul radiating from bulky boom boxes.
As known quantities in the Post Office scene, Jim and I had rolled through this joint quite a few times and were familiar with its ins and outs. But as we were vibing out to the envelope rack, sucking in those gorgeous blues and manilas, something I had never seen here before caught my eye. Mounted on the wall in a gold frame behind the shipping window was what appeared to be a rare oversized stamp measuring about one foot by 5 inches. On it was a portrait of a man drawn in rough and thick black lines on a white background. He wore the ceremonial chimere of a high-​ranking Postmaster and a crown of leaves that emanated from his head like flames. I pulled out my Kobo but couldn’t find anything like it in any of my stamp databases. So we asked a hunchbacked postman by the name of Borge what it was.
«Ah ah ah, that is one of the rarest stamps of all. It is the Icon of Horace Maynard, history’s cruelest Postmaster-​General, a man so vile and dissolute he was reputed to bathe in the blood of slaughtered Pony Express horses in order to keep his silken mane soft and shiny. In 1872, Maynard commissioned the country’s greatest engraver, a man by the name of Phineas Bicker, to forge such a stamp that it would soak up his sins and grow old in his stead, while he remained ever youthful and pure.»
In my inebriated state I could think of nothing more than how gorgeous that stamp would look hanging in my —- chamber. Overcome by desire, my mind concocted a brilliant scheme for acquiring it.
«Borge,» I said. «May I please have that stamp to put in my —- chamber?»
«Absolutely not. It is on loan from the Smithsonian. Any attempt to take it would be met with extreme peril on your part. Greater men than you have tried and failed.»
«Who? What guys? What were their names?»
«I don’t know,» said Borge. «I wasn’t here for that. I just heard about it happening while I was catching a smoke, that’s all.»
Jim suggested a better plan to me. He took me out back to the dumpsters, where we emptied a huge box of copies of Not That Kind Of Girl. Jim covered me in bubble wrap and fit me into the box. The ruse was complete. I looked just like a box. Jim filled in a packing slip for me and took me to the shipping window while I slept to conserve my energy.
I awoke several hours later to what seemed to be a dark and empty post office. I broke out of the box, practically salivating over the thought of owning that gorgeous stamp. I crept to where it hung and turned on my keyring flashlight to find the stamp was gone! I had been double-​crossed, for sure! The police would probably be here any minute to the pin this theft on me!
I groped around for any hint of the painting and found only a note taped to the wall. It read, «look behind you.» As I turned around, the lights came on, and a chorus of people went «Surprise!»
Indeed, there had been a ruse: a ruse to surprise me with a big party to celebrate the one year anniversary of my job monitoring Instagram for nipples! Everyone I knew was there: Jim, Terry, Horace, my horrible wife, and Borge, who turned out not to be a hunchback but just a minor scoliosis sufferer. Together we feasted on cake and hot wings and danced through the night.
According to the Buddha, desire is what prevents us from escaping the cycle of life and becoming the balls of energy we all want to be. In Bed-​Stuy, I learned that desire can both drive men mad but also be used to trick men for party reasons. For life lessons, bashes, and mailing things, the Brevoort Station U.S. Post Office is one of the best in the City. And that’s the truth, Ruth.

This location is garbage they should take away some of the worker’s jobs and replace them with other workers with a more pleasant personality and people willing to do there job properly. My mother sent some items to my daughter. On 2÷5÷2015 they sd they delivered it but it was never delivered. Apparently it was delivered to the wrong house and we never received anything. Postal service said it was placed in the box but still no box or items from my mother
As our neighborhood change I hope this post office is gentrified one day! Completely aweful!!!

The more things change the more they stay the same. As soon as I posted an update, my packages stopped coming. Returns and pink slips, I assume it’s the holidays, it’s cold, it’s winter. My wife goes down to pickup my package as an authorized agent. Is told she can’t get the packages! They need my id. File two complaints with the USPS. Low and behold no callbacks, however a callback from an inspector. I’m not sure what’s going on with this office but I’m hoping the hammer drops soon.
Today, go down to pickup my packages and record the whole thing. get to the window and am told I can’t take photographs, of course i’m recording and wholly aware of my rights. They refuse to give me my packages until I stop recording. I stop recording, they eventually find my packages and then take a photocopy of id to send to the USPS inspector. I told them, PLEASE. PLEASE do that.

UPDATE: Amazon is adding more lockers in the area, for FREE you can pickup your package (since USPS wont deliver it anyway) from an Amazon locker. If they don’t deliver there, Amazon reimburses!
By the time you get to the locker, scan your code, pickup your package in the 1 minute it should take. You’d STILL be on line waiting for your package at USPS and the best thing is. it’s free!

I’ve never even been to this post office physically and it’s the worst one.
Unfortunately, this is my area code, so nothing much I can do. My postal carrier is pretty polite, though today I noticed that she left one of my neighbor’s mailboxes WIDE OPEN. Fortunately I came out as soon as she left and closed it.
I had a package sent to me at home and it was supposed to have been delivered Monday the 5^th. I was home ALL DAY and no one knocked or anything, and when I checked the tracking number, it said that a delivery was attempted just 10 minutes prior. So I scheduled a redelivery for the next day. No package. Rescheduled again for yesterday. No package. So I finally called the USPS 800 number and filed a complaint and I was told someone would call me the next day from the Bed Stuy office.
Someone actually called me and said they found my package, and they pulled it and put it on the truck to be delivered. Why didn’t they do this 3 days ago???
I was on the lookout all day today for the package, and was about to give up when the sun set and I saw nothing. FINALLY, at 5:50PM this evening, my f-​ing package was delivered. The dude DIDN’T knock on my door or the basement door, and the ONLY reason why I heard him was because he was speaking loudly on his cell phone and I heard my mailbox open as he was about to put that stupid salmon slip into it. I ran outside and caught him, grabbed my package and went inside. Never again. I’m having everything sent to my bf’s job. Ugh!

I’d rather get ebola than ever have to come here.

Had a scheduled appointment to get a passport, but only one person was working the counter and it took him over 20 minutes just to get through 2 people. I waited over 45 minutes just to be seen and they were incredibly lackadaisical about everything.
