Great food, ALWAYS. It’s been a few years these guys are open and their food is always good. Georgian Bread is the best you can get in the USA. Keep up the good work!

Do not order from them, ever!!! It took them nearly 2 hours to deliver and the portions were tiny. I ordered $ 85 worth of food to get 1 small bag, not enough to feed 2 persons. The food wasn’t great either.

The food is great, the service is horrendous. Come for the food, but remember where you are, and what kind of a restaurant Tone is, which totally explains why the service is basically nonexistent. It’s a teeny tiny restaurant in the heart of Brighton Beach, so you know you’re getting the most authentic, legit Georgian eats. My friend and I came here and seated ourselves at one of the few tables. It took forever for someone to notice we were there, and then we finally got menus. We shared the phkali trio(three different dips) and they were excellent, though not served with bread, the adjaruli khachapuri… AMAZING, and a napoleon for dessert(skip it). Don’t forget to get wine! Georgians love their wine. Good prices, awesome food, pretend the waiters don’t exist because they pretend you don’t exist. Solid. Also, CASHONLY, and pay attention to your check when it comes, they add 10% gratuity automatically.

I will definitely be back. The khachapuri is amazing and I could eat it for every meal. The place is cozy inside and casual. Go go go! I can’t wait to try more Georgian food!

The food is good. Prices outrageus. The waiter did not provide the wine list. Surprise! Two glasses of mediocre wine $ 24 dollars. Lunch including tip was $ 92. I rather have brunch with views somewhere else.

This place has amazingly delicious food, good atmosphere, and is such a welcome break from the establishments in gentrified parts of the borough. I will definitely be back for more.

Tone Restaurant has a warm and simple setup with their tables and chairs. The ‘bakery’ is connected to the dining area, and you can see them prepping the fresh breads for the oven. Food — 4⁄5 Ambiance — 4⁄5 Service — 2⁄5 Our server spoke to us rather roughly and looked like he really did not want to be at work. Smoked Trout with Pomegranate Sauce — A Cheese Bread(most popular one) — A++ The prices are GREAT. If this restaurant was closer, I’d be here several times a week.

The food was delicious. The service was good, if a bit abrupt. Make sure to call ahead, they were packed and we only got a table because someone didnt show for their reservation(on a sunday afternoon lunch time). Reasonable prices. Big disappointment was that they were out of Khenkali(how!?)

We always pick up ajaruli(the bread cheese with the egg) except we call ahead and tell them no egg please. Its a tradition for me and my husband to often get their delicious cheese bread. So why 3 stars? The rude owner. Everytime we go there my husband waits in the car and i run in to pick up the order. The man seems to hate women or something. No greeting, throws the change back at me, and no goodbye. EVERYTIME. Maybe its their culture but i dont care ill be back for the delicious bread

I have never been to Georgia(the country). I have never had Georgian food. I wouldn’t never be able to point out Georgia on a blank map. I may not be able to pronounce the names of the things that I ate here, but wow. These Georgians are doing something right! FOOD: — Kachapuri Cheese Bread: this comes for free when you check in on Unilocal! It’s basically a whole bunch off cheese baked inside what seems to be puffed pastry. It is SO good. Served warm, so the cheese is still oozy. The croissant-like pastry is flaky and light. — Khachapuri Adjaruli($ 12): it kinda looks like a pizza. But it’s shaped more like a bread bowl with handles. Reminds me of fondue. They bake the bread in this big cylindrical oven(is it considered an oven??) so that the breast has a nice crust, but is still warm and fluffy on the inside. In the middle, there is a mixture of cheeses. It is then topped with a runny egg. From there, you mix everything together and dip the bread into that egg-cheese mixture. BONUS: when you dip the bread(or your fork) into the cheese, it gets all stringy when you pull away. Yuuuummmmm. — Khinkali($ 9): they are large dumplings filled with meat and some soup.(So, their take on soup dumplings) You also have the option of pork or lamb. They are larger than what I’m used to. To accommodate to the large size, the wrapper is thick. But the filling and the soup are good! I got to a point where I thought the soup was done, so I put it down. Surprise surprise, there was more! — Paklava($ 3): not baklava, but Paklava. Same shape, but not quite as flaky. I found it to be thicker, almost like a pie consistency. We also got a Sparkling Pear drink. Please do not ask me how to say it. I will fail. Miserably. It reminded me of the Ramune drinks you find as Japanese stores/restaurants. Fizzy, sweet and definitely pear flavored. SERVICE: My boyfriend and I are not Georgian, and it is pretty obvious. Our server was so accommodating — explaining the food, giving us recommendations, letting us use pictures to order, and telling us how to eat certain dishes. DECOR: Very clean, and they seem to have great quality furniture, utensils and plates. They have a huge window, so it was bright in there. There is also a door and window to the store next door, so you can watch the bread being made while you wait. A great first experience with Georgian food :)

This was my first time trying Georgian food and it will definitely not be my last. Décor: Beautiful wooden tables and big wooden chairs, seems like they polish them often. The walls are made with big stones stacked together. The windows are huge so a lot of natural light gets in, which is always a plus for me. There’s a room on the other side where they cook the bread in a huge ceramic bowl looking thing, I wish I could’ve taken a photo of it… Oh, and there are 2 flat screen tvs so I’m going to assume they show games when they’re on! Woohoo! Lastly, the ambience made it feel like I was eating in the country-side in Georgia(where ever that is) and no, not Atlanta, Georgia. Food: First, don’t forget to «Check-In» on Unilocal!I received 1FREE Kachapuri cheese bread which is… exactly what it sounds like! The Bread(might be puff pastry) is light and fluffy, and the cheese is thick but melty, so when you break the bread, the cheese holds onto each other for dear life aghhh! We started with the Pear flavored sparkling water, or Georgian Lemonade.(Don’t ask) It was very good! Not too sweet, not too fizzy. Khachapuri Adjaruli($ 12) The best way I can describe this is like a Bread-Bowl. It was baked with farmer’s cheese and topped with poached eggs. The bread, again, is super fluffy and goes really well with the cheese/egg combo. I can almost taste it in my mouth as I type this out. Absolutely delicious! Khinkali($ 9) The best way I can describe THIS dish, is the Georgian Soup Dumplings! You can choose either Pork or Lamb and we went with the LAMB! The dough is super thick, which I don’t normally like, but it has to hold together with all that delicious meat/soup inside. The lamb is tender and really well seasoned, and the«soup» aghh delicious! When you think there isn’t anymore soup, you drop the dumpling back on the plate and there you go, more soup! These dumplings had my girlfriend and I sipping soup off the plate, sheesh. I’ve been wanting to try another Soup Dumpling spot other than the 2 I already go to in Flushing, Queens. But let me tell you, a Georgian bread café was the LAST place I had in mind, let alone, a none-asian joint. Finally, for dessert we orderd the Paklava($ 3) Or Baklava. It didn’t look like the Baklava I normally see, so I thought they were completely different. I think it’s the same with Flan, and how it varies with different cultures. Anyway, this Paklava had more of a Pie consistency; the top wasn’t flaky like a baklava, but more like a crust of a «pie.» It had a nice gingery taste to it and I LOVE ginger. And although my girlfriend isn’t a fan of ginger, she thoroughly enjoyed it; probably ate more of it than I did. Service: The waitress was awesome! There was a little language barrier but she was successful in explaining each dish we found interest in. We even showed her the photos on Unilocal!and not only pointed it out on the menu, but talked a little about each dish, and showed us how the Georgian’s ate it. We really wanted to try the Chicken in Garlic sauce but they ran out of chicken, so we’ll definitely be coming back for more!

It pains me to give it less than 4 stars but my food was just okay. THEQUALITYOFTHEBREADINTHISPLACEISJUSTOUTOFTHISWORLD. SOFT. FRESH. DIFFERENTTHANANYBREAD I’VETASTED. The staff was sweet but there was a significant language barrier which I didn’t mind because she tried her best… it was just hard to understand her. Service needs a little help… Everything is served in the prettiest plates, cups and dishes. Its really cute. The place is not very big and has a cozy feel. I ordered the Ajaruli Hachapuri($ 12) and, as per the Unilocal deal we also got a free small khachaPuri cheese bread. The little cheese bread was pretty awesome. Soft and flaky. They have one of those authentic oven contraptions chilling out in the opposite room that you can see through the glass if you sit in the dining room. The Ajaruli Hachapuri was a bit to heavy and cheesy for me. When you get it you mix the egg with the cheese and its really cheesy, as a cheese lover this took it to a different level, a bit too much for my liking. I tried my friends kabob with veal and beef it was just okay I wasn’t impressed. She waited about 30 minutes for her meal. They said it would take longer to cook but that is a bit much considering there was only two more tables in the restaurant actively eating. The Georgian pear sparkling drink was just horrible. So bad. Maybe its an acquired taste but it tastes like artificial preservatives with a sparkle. Definitely don’t ever want to try that again. My suggestion is if you go to Tone try the bread! Share an Ajaruli Hachapuri if you love cheese and eat the bread!!! I will be coming back for the bread…

Disappointed in this restaurant as there aren’t that many places to eat in Coney Island, which is why we had high hopes for this place. The portions are small. The lamb and eggplant stew dish was served without an accompaniment(rice, potatoes?) in a tiny pot. Portions aside, I can make more tender lamb in my pressure cooker at home. The famous dumplings were 1:5 meat to dough ratio. The slightly bizarre part was our order of bread. We waited for it for at least 45 minutes after we finished our meal(no exaggeration). It was good but the raw egg was really unappetizing. I was so taken aback by the sight of the completely raw egg that I asked our waitress if it was undercooked(and I mean to the point of transparent egg whites here) but she assured me it was the way they served it. The bread and cheese was good but I couldn’t get over the snotty consistency of the raw egg dripping off of it. The only reason we waited for the bread was the pleasant atmosphere in the restaurant and our lovely waitress. For bread, a small entrée, and dumplings, our bill came to $ 44, which is pricey for what this place is and the quantity and quality of the food they serve.

After visiting here, I start to think that the Georgian bread may turn to be the best. Good bread is something that is not that hard to achieve, but bread that can make you feel that you can enjoy it by itself, maybe with little butter and good coffee is something rare. And I have been trying breads from all over the world all my life. And I really likes was that everything tasted homemade, and that is something that you need to search a lot in NYC to find one. I did not try their meat dishes(yet;), but I tried the Imeruli Hachapuri, and it had tastes that I never had before. Maybe it is just the Georgian food, and not necessarily this particular location, but it doesn’t really matter, since the food was great. And I will return here to try more food, or just for more Hachpuri… With all of that said, it is delicious, but since it is a very basic food, I think they could offer better prices.

The food here is great. We started with a traditional salad which was fresh and delicious. It had a perfect balance of oil and vinegar. For second the second course, we had Khachapuri. The bread was crispy on the outside yet soft and airy on the inside. The middle was bowl shaped and filled with cheese and egg. It was some of the best cheese bread I’ve had. For our main course, we had chicken and lamb shishkebab. They were cooked to a perfect medium rare with a delicious seasoning and char. It was some of the best I’ve had. I’d rate the food 4.5 stars. The service was abysmal. There was no one to greet us; we had to walk around to the kitchen to let them know we arrived. Almost all of the tables were still dirty with plates even though we were the only ones in the restaurant. We checked in on Unilocal and tried redeeming the free khachapuri offered through Unilocal. They claimed to be out of this check in special, but they did have the most expensive khachapuri on the menu. Moreover, I had to stand up and grab my own drink from the fridge even when we requested drinks. At no point were we offered more drinks when we finished ours. At the end of the meal, it turned out the computer was down and that we couldn’t pay by card though we were entitled to use a nearby ATM.

Excellent georgian food. The hachipurri paodjarsky(cheese bread with egg) is out of this world. The harcho soup is very good. All the food is unique and they use a lot of different fresh spices which makes the food fresh and have a lot of flavor. Fairly priced and good service I will return.

Watch out. This place will NOT honor the voucher they sell on Unilocal, changing the condition of it when presented at the end of the meal. When I tried to speak to the guy who is probably either the owner or manager, he totally ignored me. The waiter is extremely slow at serving– evening serving other parties that were seated later. I guess we’re not Russians enough.

I was so blown away by this place, we had and amazing meal! We read the reviews and thought it sounded interesting, but the food was really unique and delicious. Now we’re wondering if all Georgian food is alike, or this place is truly exceptional. Might need to visit the motherland! The stuffed breads were fantastic, and we didn’t have a single bad dish. Delicious version of a soup dumpling too. It seems like chefs from around Greek, the Middle-East, Russia, Afghanistan, and China had a meeting and came up with this. We also loved the service, and though the décor was all paper-thin, there was something fun about it. We’ll be back!

I wandered by this place by happenstance on an early morning. I have several clients who are from Georgia and have always wondered what the food was like. I love Eastern European cuisine and i was super excited to try this. I can’t recall what the name of the savory pastries were called but one was with herbs and potatoes while the other was meat. My friend had the meat pastry while I had the vegetarian one. They were amazing and I will be back for sure! Cheap too and the lady at the counter was so helpful and thought it was amusing for my excitement that I was trying Georgian food for the first time! They remind me actually of little larger than the average empanadas.

Do yourself a favor and get the Unilocal deal for Toné Georgian bread in Brighton Beach. Then get the adjaruli. The waiter was so nice and mixed it up for me(20 seconds btw) because I looked so perplexed by the raw egg. It cooks in the bread boat with the cheese and butter. Then you can dip pieces of the bread in it. Seriously one of the best things I’ve ever put in my mouth. Wow. I couldn’t finish the whole thing by myself because it is super rich, but I will definitely be back with a friend to help me out!

Have no choice but to downgrade my review to 2 stars, and here’s why: — Ordered through Seamless 2 times, both for take-out. First, order was«never received» and only after calling credit card and confirming that money were taken out Tone Café agreed to make the food. Half of which, even though on their menu on Seamless and on paper menus at the café, was not available(not temporarily, but because they decided not to cook it any more!), so I had to choose something else and pay the difference. Second time, I arrived half an hour after the promised time to be told that my order«only just now was received», so I waited another 20 minutes for them to make it. Guy at the counter said they constantly have issues with Seamless(yet for some reason still have an open account) and advised to order by phone. — Called to order by phone. Again, a lot of items are not available, after a few tries I got frustrated and asked, well, what do you have — they guy said, come and find out ANDHUNGUP. I am leaving 2 stars instead of 1 because food, if you are lucky to get it, is good; but I have since found another place for a wonderful khachapuri. I don’t know how the experience is for a dine-in, but after this I am no longer tempted to find out.

¡Me encanta la comida de la Republica de Georgia! El servicio fue bueno, pero los platillos son un poco caros para lo que son. Igual, recomiendo el lugar, una buena atmosfera y un menu muy interesante que vale la pena de conocer en Brooklyn. From now own, I will post my review in Spanish. I found a lack of review in Spanish. Hopefully, my reviews are helpful for Spanish speakers and learners. ‘Till next time(Hasta pronto!), Edu

Overrated, but more importantly, engaging in illegal practices. Don’t get me wrong. The food is solid. You won’t walk out saying, ugh, the food is horrible. You will walk out saying, ugh, the service is horrible. The first time I went to Tone Café, I came with my husband and MIL. We opted for our own dishes. I was dying to try the khachapuri, so I did. My MIL ordered some eggplant dish and my husband ordered some stew dish. After 20 minutes, my MIL’s eggplant came out. Then another 20 minutes later, my husband’s stew came out. It was another 30 minutes before my khachapuri came out. Basically, I waited almost an hour and a half for a piece of bread with cheese and raw eggs to get prepared or whatever the whole they were doing back there. No explanations, no apologies and no tiny appetizer to at least feed me something in that time frame. But they certainly had no problem charging the full amount for a ridiculous wait.(Seriously, how does a stew come out before a piece of bread?) Nevertheless, the other dishes were good enough to write this off as a bad experience. I ended up coming back with the sister and BIL. This time the food actually came out with normal timing. We ordered an eggplant app(which was good but not as good as last time), khachapuri(which was much better this time), potatoes and mushrooms(pretty good) and the chicken with garlic sauce(okay to goodish). We were hungry and devoured most of it. When the bill came, it looked off. I grabbed a menu and compared it to the bill. Several items were priced a few dollars higher on the bill. I ended up asking the waiter to match it up since I didn’t know why it was wrong. He got really mad and said that the prices on the receipt were right and the menu prices were wrong and they hadn’t bothered to change them yet. This wouldn’t have looked as bad but the menus were on regular pieces of paper and about 1⁄3 of the items already had crossed out prices. He marched away angrily and gave us a new bill, only refunding $ 2.25 of what was owed. We were still shorted close to $ 10. This is not just wrong; it is an *ILLEGAL* consumer practice. Businesses are required to honor the prices listed. I’m sorry but the food isn’t so out of this world that I can justify coming back a third time considering such crappy service and illegal practices. You’re better off going over the Coney Island Ave bridge and hitting up Nargis Café, where the food is better and they actually care about service.

Man, this place needs to invest in some air conditioning. I hate to think what it’ll feel like in there come the middle of the summer. Maybe that’s why the waiter is so grumpy, he’s sweating to death. These things aside, the food is actually really good, especially all of their bread items– bread with cheese, more bread with more cheese, and even more bread with cheese and eggs. We had the Adjaruli [$ 10], which is a kind of khachapuri with two poached eggs in the middle! This massive piece of bread, shaped like a boat, comes to your table and you’re instructed to scramble the eggs really fast. After awhile it begins to look like just that– scrambled eggs with gooey cheese. Just rip the bread off from the sides and dip. Amazing. If you let the egg/cheese mixture cool down, it’ll become a little congealed. Not so amazing. The Phkali Trio [$ 10] wasn’t my favorite. As it’s name indicates, it’s a trio of spinach, eggplant, and green beans, meant to be spread on bread [or eaten with your fork since you aren’t given bread?] The eggplant was definitely mixed in with some kind of cream, sour cream maybe. The spinach and green beans had nice, almost middle eastern, kind of spices on them– this must be the Georgian herbs and spices. The Hinkali [$ 9] reminded me of a pork dumpling that you’d find at a dim sum restaurant. The ground beef was excellent. A serving has 9 pieces, they’re big, heavy, and greasy. After two you’re ready to call it a day. I don’t know what it was about the coffee, but it was incredible. I actually drank it black with 3 brown sugars. It’s light tasting and not bitter. You definitely don’t need to spend a fortune here to be stuffed. In fact, you can get half of what we ordered and walk away happy. Sit by the window for people watching, otherwise, it’s kind of small with limited seating.

I found Georgian Bread on Unilocal a while ago, and was very intrigued. I am a pizza girl. I’m a cheese girl. I’m a fresh bread girl. This place seemed right up my alley. Unfortunately, it was at the bottom of a very long list of bookmarks, so I only just made it out there this past Sunday. Take my advice while the weather’s still favorable: make the trip to Brighton Beach, take a stroll on the boardwalk, and don’t put it off any longer. This Georgian cheese bread is incredible. I arrived around noon on Sunday, and there is a bakery counter on one side, and a small-ish restaurant on the other side. We decided to have a leisurely lunch at the restaurant. I started with a Georgian sparkling water, while my husband chose a neon green Georgian tarragon soda. I had a sip… it was sweet, bitter, and herbal. Not my favorite, but husband liked it(he also happily drinks dill and beet infused vodka though). We decided to order 2 khatchapuri — one round with farmer’s cheese/mozzarella, and the famous elongated boat variety with 2 poached eggs and cheese. The round khatchapuri came out quickly, along with our side of green beans. The green beans were a nice side, served cool and peppered with garlic and shallots. It reminded me of Turkish food. The round khatchapuri was very filling, and honestly we should have stopped there. But we had already ordered, and were dying to try the poached egg. The latter was not already prepared, so we had to wait 40 minutes for it to be freshly baked — NOT A PROBLEM! I will wait hours for freshly baked cheese bread. The waiter was very attentive and friendly during our wait. «just 10 minutes more guys, it’s in the oven as we speak.» The poached egg and cheese katchapuri was worth the hour subway ride, worth the 40 minute baking wait, and worth every exquisite calorie. This was one of the most decadent, rich, delicious things I’ve ever had, and it’s a must-order. We were instructed to use our forks to mix the gooey egg and cheese together, then dig in. Sadly, we only made it through about a third of this guy before we threw in the towel and wrapped it up. Feeling«sick-full», we decided to counteract our gluttony, walk the 10 miles to Prospect Park South, then finish it off on a park bench there. It was not nearly as good as in the restaurant, but it held up for a few hours, for all intents and purposes.

What a cute little shop! The boyfriend and I came around 7pm and was worried that they ran out of Khachapuri(Georgian bread with cheese). I asked the owner how big they were(because I was totally clueless, and yes it was my first time — cherry popped!), he pointed at the train on top of the clay oven and luckily enough, we gotten 3 orders. He was extremely nice and friendly although he didn’t speak English too fluently but he understood us, the language of food! The 3 Khachapuri was heavy, felt like over 5 pounds of heavenly deliciousness. The aroma was captivating but I needed to hold off until we got home to try it. It was still warm by the time I was home and the initial bite was pure heaven. Soft and pillow-y with the right amount of salted cheese in the center. The best I can describe it would be it tasted just like pizza, without the crazy tomato sauce. This would go so well with dips like artichoke, spinach, hummus, etc. For just $ 6, you can get the Khachapuri which is about a foot in diameter. After eating this, I can totally say«so long pizza!»
