This is hands down the best film editing program in New York City. The student to teacher ratio is absurd, often close to 1:2 or even 1:1. The teachers are working editors, talented ones, award winning people with a range of knowledge, values and a passion for teaching not only the technical ins and outs of film editing but also the necessary requirements for navigating the professional world of film editing.
I took this class recently and was absolutely blown away. I already work in the industry and have been making headway and took the class as sort of professional development expecting to gain a line on my resume and some useful skills. Instead, I was given the tools necessary to start to become a film editor. I was connected to other editors in the industry, I learned things about the trade and about the challenges facing film editors, and I walked away with two of the best scenes I’ve ever cut. Absolutely, without a doubt, worth the money. Can’t say enough about it.
