This place is a solid 2 Stars… but I will be ordering pick-up food again. I ordered the Kung Pao Chicken — this was pretty good. It was on par with other Kung Pao Chicken I’ve had from other restaurants. Rice was great — cooked perfectly. All of those stars got lost on the General Tso’s Chicken that my boyfriend ordered. We always go half and half on dishes and I literally couldn’t eat more than a bite. First of all, it was a PALE brownish color. It did not look or taste like General Tso’s at all! We wound up throwing out the whole dish and just eating mine. Maybe it was an off day, but I would NEVER order their general tso’s again. 2 pints of white rice and 2 dinners cost $ 20. I will update when I try food from here again. Note: this was a pick-up order. I did not eat-in.

My grandpa called earlier in the day to make a reservation. They said we should get there by 6 and leave by 7:50 for the next party that would eat after mahjong. Totally sketch. We were a party of 12 and they sat us in this tight room next to the mahjong table behind this out-of-place divider on the second floor. The party was playing mahjong while we were eating. The food was decent but not something to rave over. The only good dish was the oysters. Service was absolutely horrendous. I totally understood we had to get out within 2 hours but they didn’t even wait for us to finish our soup(which takes up a considerable amount of space on the already small table) before bringing out the food. We waited probably 30 minutes for simple pepper and vinegar for the soup which delayed my uncles’ desire to consume it. After bringing out all the food, we only saw them maybe twice to exchange plates. After we finished eating, we waited for someone to come ask for the check. No one came after 20 minutes so my grandpa had to call the front desk. Waited for another 15 minutes before someone came up with no check and my grandpa had to ask for it again. Would never go there again. Totally terrible.

The upstairs portion smelled like cigarette smoke and there was a section blocked off by some cheap dividers where it sounded like there were people playing Mahjong. It’s 6:30pm on a Sunday… What the $?%!?

I’ve been here three or four times, once with family and all the others for take-out. Their food is of quality; I wouldn’t go as far as to say it’s the best, but it is definitely one of the good quality Asian restaurants in the area. For a quick bite, I’d definitely recommend this place. They are often not too busy, so it is not difficult to be seated quickly. However, the reason for not giving the four or full five stars is due to the fact of the attitudes that I’ve seen waiters/waitresses throw at me at times. I understand that their jobs are rough, but I don’t think it’s neat to throw me attitudes here and there. Obviously, this doesn’t hurt the other three stars because of the food qualities here. Recommended.

We decided to go somewhere close as in walking distance from our friends place and we’ve been to this place once before and we had a good experience so decided give it a second try. We came on Saturday at 8pm for a table of 6. They told us it would be 10mins which turns out to be half hour plus. Okay, fine the wait is not a problem since weekends tends to be busier everywhere you go. Come being seated and we were ready to order we tried to flagged down someone before getting their attention. They had nerve tell us hold on they were busy. It took us four times before one of them finally came. That’s one too many times if you ask me. If we weren’t so hungry and we had to walked about 15mins before getting there normally I would’ve just got up and left. It’s ridiculous how you treat your customers and ignored us and told us you were busy so you cant be bother with taking down our orders. So finally we ordered all our dishes and wait was long once more. The kids kept complaining they were hungry and where were the food and they want to eat. It was nearly 9pm by then. Our soup was first and only dish that came out was the fish stomach with seafood(魚肚羹). We finished that long after before anything else came. The waitress then came and told us the 6 scallops with vermicelli were all sold out and they had to «open» a fresh batch for us and told us it was going to be a long wait and if we still wanted to wait for it? Our friends and i all looked at eachother like really?! So i asked her how long are we expecting as in late since we already wasted an hour at the place and all we got served was soup and asked are we expecting three hours of a wait. She tried joke it off like«oh not that long ill be long gone and home sleeping by then if that long». So i asked again so how long is your«a long time» means she then said half hour we said yes we will wait for it not like any other food came anyways. Mind you when we got there they had a restaurant full of tables. By the time all our food came the restaurant was nearly emptied. That night they had a private party upstairs with only about three waiters/waitresses in the whole place for a Saturday night! Unbelievable i tell you! When everyone else nearly got their checks all our food came out all at once. Their kitchen must be low in chefs cooking because it seems like they cook for each table before getting to us. Our friends ordered the eggplant dish which was barely touched by any of them. I dont like eggplants myself but its one of my husband’s favorite and he didnt even eat it. Our friend’s son ordered the beef in wet sauce flat noodles(河粉) and he usually eats the whole lunch order size and hes only 5 yrs old but he barely touched it because that thing was over drenched in sauce they couldnt even eat it. It was too overwhelming. When you order it as take out they separate the sauce for you so you would be able to pour to your liking. My husband ordered the pork lung slicing in chilli sauce(夫妻肺片) it wasnt very spicy that is unbearable but he said it was not all good and he didnt finish it. Thats also one of his fave dish to order and he eats it by himself. The recommended dishes were the fish stomach seafood soup(魚肚羹) which everyone enjoyed and finished even the kids too. The scallop vermicelli, salt and pepper squid, fish fillet with chives and salted fish with chicken fried rice was also a good choice. Their eel rice(order from first time coming not 2nd visit) is good too but after this incident i am reluctant to go back again if I had a choice. Overall the food was mediocre. The service time is poor and management need to up their game on busy nights by hiring more staff whether in kitchen or out front. You are hurting your business by poor service. I dont blame the staff because they are doing their job but if you have better management skills and prepare everything with the turnaround time at your place it would run a lot smoother and you will have happier customers when they leave your place instead of unsatisfied customers who will now rethink twice about stepping in your place to eat.

Came here to celebrate a birthday! Made reservations before hand for a group and had them specially prepare the eel hot pot rice in a bowl so when we arrive, we don’t have to sit and wait for almost 30 minutes or so. They are famous that this bowl! Also has their other regular Chinese dishes which was not bad at all! Loved their oysters!! Great service and good pricing on the food as well!

Absolutely horrible customer service. My family decided to come here for dinner on the night of the Mid-Autumn Festival. We made reservations the night before for 12 people. When we arrived, the waiter gave us a small table that would fit at most 10 people. We told him we couldn’t sit our entire party at the table and we needed a bigger one. He said we could fit if we all squeezed in a little. I refuse to pay for a meal where I am sitting uncomfortably, elbow to elbow the entire night. Since they could not accommodate us, we stood up to leave. At that point, the waiter got nasty and said we should stop complaining and we were lucky to even have a table here as all the other restaurants are booked since it was a holiday. Definitely not coming back here.

Famous for clay pot rice, particularly for Yellow Eel. A company of 8 ordered a medium pot for $ 30, without knowing portion size. Ordered an additional pot rice for $ 9.95. The portion of each clay pot rice can easily fill 10 people with refills! This place also have special price dishes like Twin lobster for $ 9.99, or Peking Style pork chop for $ 6.99. Ordered 5 additional dishes to go with the rice dishes. Each dish came out sizzling and flavorful. Total bill came to $ 106.00 with a full pot of rice for doggy bag to take room! A great value for large crowd!

The food is okaaaaaay. Was recommended by my aunt. Eel rice pot: My dad thought it lacked flavor. Peking pork: it is not like how other restaurants make it. I guess they tried to make their own spin to it but I like it sweeter, redder, and tangy. Special house chicken with the fried skin: everyone liked it. Lobster with ginger and scallion: didn’t taste fresh to me. It didn’t have that pop in my mouth when you first bite into it Frog legs with nuts: It has really good flavor We ordered one of my fave veggies but I’m not sure what it is called in English. In Chinese it’s called«tong choy» with garlic.

Horrible horrible horrible service!!! Don’t ever come here. This is the worst place possible. Does not care about food customer service and sassy too! No one wants a frustrating dining experience. Zero stars if it was possible.

We had family dinner here last night. Long story short, it really was not the best Chinese family-style restaurant out there in Brooklyn. This restaurant aims to serve dishes from the Taishan(台山) county from the Guangdong(廣東) province in China. Some authentic Taishan dishes served here is the Yellow Eel Casserole. They also serve other famous Cantonese and Mainland China dishes as well. Staff is fluent in the Taishan dialect and Cantonese with a bit of accent(no biggie, though!). They can handle Mandarin as well. I would recommend: 1. Sichuan Boiled Fish Fillets(水煮魚). It is simply fish fillets in spicy, chili oil broth. The fish tasted pretty fresh last night and the broth was pretty good when I scooped some into my rice bowl. I would like it a lot more if the spicy level was just a bit more. 2. Salt & Pepper Squid was good as well. It was deep-fried to the bright golden color and topped with salt, black pepper, green peppers, and red peppers. Very presentable dish at first sight. I would NOT recommend: 1. Stir-fry Crab — Minced meat and egg on crab? I don’t think so. Flavors do not compliment each other. The dish is supposedly dry but it was way too moist. 2. Chinese Watercress — AVOID! This is my family’s favorite veggie whether we have it at home or at the restaurant. Watercress was overcooked and really tasted like it was melting in your mouth. No noticeable taste of the bean curd flavor we requested. 3. Clams with Black Bean Sauce. Clams were not fresh all. Very weak black bean sauce, it was way too watery. Not the cleanest restaurant. You can see food stains on the white table cloth. I would say, wipe down your utensils before you use it. I would try to find another Chinese-family restaurant on 8th Avenue or along Bay Parkway.

my parents wanted to go out to eat dinner around the neighborhood with the family and my dad decided to try this place out. as soon as i arrived at the restaurant i looked i up on Unilocal— EEEEK! 2.5* who wants to eat at a 2.5* place? not i for sure! but oh well– what can i do? was already there. my dad ended up ordering about 8 dishes for our group of 12. and i can honestly say 7⁄8 dishes were all really good. tasty, not too salty and not too oily(like many food at chinese restaurants). and to top it off– all the food only came out to $ 250 total. would definitely come back here again(if my parents wanted to– bc i had no idea what they ordered)

This place is three blocks from my house so it was finally time to give it a try. It was empty on a pre-holiday Thursday afternoon(some folks trickled in after we say down) and the waiter who attended us was nice and friendly, unlike other reviews seem to suggest. His English wasn’t the best but it was better than my non-existent Chinese language skills so I can’t complain about that– we made ourselves understood to one another and that’s what matters! My boyfriend and I ordered sliced roast pork as an appetizer, shredded five-color Chinese duck and snow pea leaves with minced garlic. The waiter came back very quickly and regretfully made it known that they were out of that shredded duck dish, so we ordered the crispy duck with taro instead, which he said would take a long time, about 20 minutes. The pork came out quickly and unfortunately it was covered in a very thick, sickly sweet sauce that was a bit disgusting. The greens came out next and they were delicious and made up for the disappointing appetizer! The duck took about 20 minutes, as he said, but was very good as well. The prices were very reasonable and the service decent(I did have to wave my hands to get the waiter to notice that I was ready to get my credit card swiped, but I tried to be polite about it and he didn’t appear to mind) I’m planning on returning to try some of the other more interesting-looking dishes(squab, snails, frog, etc) and of course their famous clay pot eel and rice.

I usually don’t believe Unilocal stars, but this time I have to say… the general consensus is right. 1) Wait time for a table was long. 2) Wait time for food was extremely long. 3) There was rice on the floor where we sat. That’s disgusting. 4) Dishes came out in weird order, one by one, long stretch of time in between. 5) Food was tolerable, but it really shouldn’t be that way…

This is one where I should have paid attention to the reviews before deciding to eat here. I ordered the typical authentic dishes and the staples(eel rice, lobster special) and have to say that I was left disappointed by everything delivered. In addition to the specials, we order chicken, veggies, and Peking Pork Chops. Nothing crazy, but all dishes that you expect to be consistent and edible. Not here!!! We also order the fish«two ways» which when done correctly the restaurant will take a fresh fish and make soup and stir fry fish with. The soup came rather quick(good) was very salty(bad) and the rest of our food took an hour to come. At first I was quietly eating hoping my friends and family would devoir the food but when even my sons claimed they were«full» I realized it was time to jump ship. It was pouring when we went and rather than eat I walked around the block with my two year old while everyone finished eating. I’m not telling you not to try it, but if that’s not a sign — then your just brave.

This restaurant is truly an authentic Cantonese Chinese restaurant target to serve primarily the Chinese population in the area. This means that if you come here, you better be with someone who can speak and read Chinese if you want to enjoy your meal. My two favorite dishes that we ordered were the yellow eel clay pot rice and the lobster with ginger and scallions. The yellow eel clay pot rice comes served in a giant clay pot large enough to serve a big party. It is a hearty dish with a generous portion of eel mixed in. The lobster with ginger and garlic is one of the restaurant specials. It is sauteed in the sauce so it is guaranteed to be very flavorful, and the lobster meat comes right out of the shell. Although they serve Sichuan food here as well, it is much less authentic than a typical Sichuan restaurant. I would recommend against ordering it if you are looking to enjoy something that is truly ma la. The service and atmosphere is what you would expect from a typical Chinese restaurant so don’t go in with high expectations, but you also won’t break the bank eating here.

Shady! Lol Went there last night for a birthday dinner. We booked a «Vip room» for karaōke and it was located behind what looked like an emergency exit… It was like an illegal extension of the second floor in the restaurant. When I was addressed to go to the second floor to meet my party I couldn’t even find what they were taking about until my friend came out to get me after calling her. There were only three waiters working last night but it was pretty busy as the second floor’s «party rooms» were packed and a good hand full of tables on the main floor were taken as well, so food came very slow. I dont remember a single dish that stood out to me so I won’t be going back there. We ordered fresh oysters which was clean and pretty good but it wasn’t enough to make an impression to me. Also artists and songs were very limited. There are a lot more restaurants that serve better food and have a wide range of songs if you want to sing.

First impressions: the service is slow. They didn’t give us enough place settings, and just one menu for the table. There were also only two waiters and they have a party/VIP room upstairs, which they seemed to value more than the tables downstairs. The specials taped to the wall are also all in Chinese, so good luck with that. I overheard another table complaining they had waited over an hour for their food. A waitress also said that the typical wait time for the clay pot rice casserole(that they’re known for) is about 40 minutes. About 45 minutes after ordering, a waiter told us that the kitchen was out of the fish we ordered. Seriously? Most places do that within 2 minutes. It’s not that hard to count WHOLE fishes. But the food that did arrive was surprisingly decent. The crispy fried chicken was tender with tasty skin. The bok choy was also good, but you really have to go out of your way to screw that up. Then after we got those two dishes, the same waiter came back and said they were out of the fatty beef dish that we ordered. That means they didn’t even START thinking about that order until over an hour after we placed it. Our rice was cold at that point. As a replacement, we ordered a shrimp dish with cashews. Instead, what we received was a different dish with walnuts. To add insult to injury, it was also more expensive. Our last dish(eel casserole) arrived an hour and a half after we first sat down. The pot was actually smaller than a typical one, so the portions were tiny. They also decided we didn’t need a spoon. Basically, the food isn’t bad. But the service was so horrendous that I could never recommend it for anyone. FYI, if you’re wondering how this review is so extensive, it’s because the entirety of it was written while waiting for food. At least their WiFi is good for something…

My first judgement of this place was a typical takeout restaurant. Their take out menu screams«chinese takeout» you know? But it wasn’t until I stepped into this place and saw a more nicer version of a chinese restaurant that I thought. Even though I only ordered beef and broccoli over rice, it tasted pretty good. I also enjoyed their buffalo wings. I love the hot pepper flakes they incorporate into the wings. There was a bit of a language barrier and my waiter didn’t understand much english but for the most part, he understood everything I asked with a bit of my lackluster Cantonese kicking in. I enjoyed the oranges at the end of the meal. Oh! and they have free wifi at this restaurant too. I’m a huge wifi geek so this made me quite happy.
